Captain Marvel Brie Larson is Captain Marvel!

They could've had her in a modification of her original costume, which could've been just a female version of Captain Marvel's classic costume:

Instead of her bare legs showing, she could've had red on her legs like Captain Marvel, making it a full bodysuit.

The dominant colour would've been red, with some blue (or black) parts.

That would've been more interesting than what we got.

Marvel can't seem to steer away from the same design elements they keep using. They even put some of that on Spider-Man's costume with those black lines on his legs.

Pretty sure that one was the inspiration for this concept art.

Can't tell for sure if she has blue shoulders like the original Ms Marvel suit, but it doesn't look like it. Even though the domino mask would serve no purpose, I still would like to see it. I just liked the look.

No, it doesn't, but that's the only thing thats missing.... other than the mask/sash, but that serves no purpose as she isn't hiding her identity from anyone, just like most of the MCU heroes. Everything else is there from your example above is there.

I think it needs the sash to break up the long stretch of blue at the bottom. Also, the sash is iconic.

Hopefully she decides to tie it around her. Maybe it's something that belongs to Mar-Vell? Maybe he wears a dress and that's all that remains of it. :o

As for the domino mask, since they're pretty much ineffective at hiding identities, I'd see it as being more decorative. Some cultures wore masks not for the purpose of hiding themselves but just as a form of attire.

She's seen wearing the sash in other concept art, so it could make an appearance. Who knows though.

Look... I actually agree that the suit is a bit too derivative of quite a few other costumes in the MCU at this point... But let's keep our powder dry. It's a BTS shot from a very limited time of shooting. And as others have pointed out there are any number of practical reasons the suit comes off as it does.

Again... I'm not 100% blown away by it either but some of the criticism is sounding a tad overblown now.

If people want fanservice I'm sure there'll be a porn parody they can sink their teeth into.

Carol's suit doesn't come from Earth, though. The same set of rules that apply to Cap's (baggy, tactical etc) shouldn't apply to her Kree suit

Why shouldn't it? How often do you see actual soldiers or military personnel wearing form-fitted uniforms? Not often.

I guess it depends upon what her primary warrior function is. Those human mounted soldiers and pilots from our history generally wear a more form fitted uniform than the modern infantry and other dismounted troops. Because of the need to have everything out of the way should they need to bail out and rapidly abandon their vehicle/aircraft. The camouflage function that the bagginess aids by breaking up the humanoid outline in is secondary to the fear of burning alive.

But for the aesthetic of the MCU, those would feel completely out of place. The practicality of those suits for a vigilante/superhero in the MCU would be next to none. You also have to remember that Carol Danvers is someone with a military background, which accounts for her more covered-up look.

But again, nobody is asking for skimpy. You can have a sleek, feminine, striking costume design without showing legs or cleavage. Maybe what we've seen so far is an ill-fitting precursor to that, but I can understand why people are underwhelmed for now until that proves to be the case.

I keep coming here instead of going to Shazam sub-forum by mistake.

Ha, well I feel oddly patriotic in saying the gay version looks better than the straight one, I must say. More comic accurate too.

That some fans are so obsessed with her needing to look "sexy." Or should I say, the stereotypical version of what "sexy" is.

And the fact that it's almost always female characters who get this kind of debate around them, the double standard is irritating.

It's Brie Larson, she already looks really attractive.
