Captain Marvel Brie Larson is Captain Marvel!

I love Carol Danvers. I have the very first issue of Ms. Marvel from the 70s, probably have the first 30 or so issues in my childhood comic collection stored away. Cannot wait for this movie!

At the Infinity War premiere:

I like that they chose a great actress who is also quite relatable. There's no doubt Brie is an attractive woman, but she's not ridiculously, out of the ordinary beautiful and I LOVE that. I feel like Captain Marvel could be one of my friends or even me. She looks like a normal woman and not a Victoria's Secret model. Really happy with the casting.

Yes exactly she is definitely relatable which is what I think Marvel goes for when they cast their superheroes in this universe. The fact that they went after Brie at all is genius. She is an Academy award winning actress on top of it.

I did.

And I think she’s very beautiful. There’s more than one way to be beautiful and she is beautiful inside and out

Yup.

The common man and woman can relate to Scarjo and RDJ. :o

Well, if you think about when RDJ was first cast as Iron Man, he wasn't as highly regarded as he is now. He's a man who has had some very public issues. Also, although he's an attractive man, he's not exactly an Adonis and isn't physically intimidating in the same way Chris Hemsworth or Hugh Jackman are. There's a reason women love him and men want to be him and that's because he's relatable.

Scar Jo... not so much. That woman is FIRE. I don't relate to her at all lol.

It would have been so easy (and obvious) to cast some insane beauty like Charlize Theron as Carol and I'm so glad they didn't. If I ever have a daughter, I want her to grow up with heroes like Brie Larson.

Whew, she would have been prefect. Beauty aside, she's also a very talented Oscar winning actress. I've come around to Brie Larson, but just because a woman is unusually good-looking doesn't mean she can't be relatable. (I'm talking in general, not specifically to you, btw.)

Not that Brie wont be just as good, but I actually think that Evan Rachel Wood would've been perfect for Carol.

Anyway, in regards to the whole 'relatable' thing, yeah, as far as I can remember Marvel was built on the ethos of 'regular joe's with regular problems but extraordinary abilities/god-like powers, so casting the likes of RDJ and Rudd fits in with that whole ethos.

I can't stand Evan Rachel Wood outside of Westworld (took me a while to warm up to her on that show too), so I personally am very glad she's not Carol. Brie has a certain instant-likability factor that very few actresses her age have and will do wonders for her in this role, imo.

Evan is perfect for batwoman, Brie is perfect for carol

Evan would also be great for Poison Ivy as well.

Tbh, I’m also not totally convinced on Brie as Carol though that’s entirely on me, I haven’t seen her in much and the only movie of her’s that I took any significant notice of was Short Term 12, after which I had her pegged for Sue Storm or something along those lines. Part of an ensemble. I just don’t get the more hardened attitude that I associate with Cap from her.

That said, I recognize that i should be pass the point of doubting MCU casting choices for their leads. I mean, Chris Pratt and all.

Brie posted this on Instagram, love the 90s pop star look

Ha! I can see that becoming a major fashion icon soon. Similar to the way black panther started to influence fashion
