Tribute to the old Bat Cave and films

ive said it a thousand times and ill say it again: under the right circumstances, Jim Carrey could've done a perfect Riddler or Joker

How did you work that one out?

for starters

He pretty much summed up the personality fit for the character in "The Mask", in which everything was surrounded by a cartoonish aurora. He physically throws himself into each character he does (ex. The Mask, Bruce Almighty, Ace Ventura, etc.) and The Joker is not what you call "calm", which is how he has been portrayed for the most part.

Psychologically, he has it down as well. If you havent seen "The Number 23" (which I highly recommend to anyone), he nails the insane quality perfectly.

I think he would have been better as the Joker (comics or BTAS one). His Riddler was a lot like the Joker anyway.

I prefer dark low key caves as well. But I thought the picture just looked cool and I thought I'd share it just for the hell of it since this is a Batcave thread.

The Batman Returns cave was pretty good too. It wasn't as big but it looks more convenient with the computer, the workstation and suits being close together rather having everything far apart.

This is still the best I've seen around it's very true to nolans batverse

To me the cave has always been an extension of Bruce's psyche, he's not a happy man, he likes the dark, embraces it even. He prefers to stick to the shadows. Which is why I didnt mind the Cave in TDK being as bright as it was, it was showing that Bruce had hope, that he was looking at the brighter side of things. He wasnt hiding his presence, everyone knew about him, he was in the spotlight.

But I do want the Cave in TDKR to be dark, it needs to show the frame of mind that Bruce is in. He's sticking to the shadows in this movie, he's gonna be on the run from the cops, he's not looking on the bright side like he did in TDK.

That's why I think this would be the best choice, its dark, dank, and but not to dark to show that Bruce hasnt lost that hope for a better tomorrow for Gotham, a tomorrow that he's made his lifes mission to fight for

Lit well, that would be excellent. I love the way it incorporates the tunnel sections.

Would allow for a big cave, which is nice.

If it's a cave then it should at least look like one rather than an underground museum. It hardly resembles who Batman is which is important because it's supposed to be his home/the place he's most comfortable at.

this image works because it takes the arching foundation of the southeast corner of wayne manor and improves on it just like alfred suggests. still debating if i like how there are two floors though. imo everything should be on one level in case there is an emergency and batman needs to move quickly . but thats me being picky.

i'm still waiting to see if anyone can include the various streams of water in the cave from the waterfall.

The issue I have with most of these concepts is they're very isolated. It's something I would expect from a film that didn't have a budget to capture the vastness of a humongous cave. So they opt for something that would fit in a studio.

I'd like Nolan to expand what we saw in BB. A never-ending canvas where there will always be new areas to discover. Perhaps this is a bit much, but my ideal batcave is one that makes your jaw drop at its immense scale:

I wonder how the Nolans will explain how the contractors who worked on the new Bat Cave were able to keep quite about what they built? Interesting.

Probably wont. Bruce will have to move it down there himself, unless Lucius is that much willing to help him one more time

What if Bruce orders the items he needs and puts them together himself? I dont expect the batcave to be as extravagant as its in the comics so it could be done by one man, his butler and his trusty company CEO. Of course that will all be explained through pure exposition like the hamfisted "it will be nice when Wayne manor is rebuilt so that instead of not sleeping in the penthouse you will not be sleeping there."

well, Lucius pulled out the Tumbler by himself and that was noticed. So its difficult to see how moving an entire cave underground alone can go without suspicion

I agree. Lets see some great scale and big scope shots of the new Cave!

^^ I love it. It's pretty much the way my concept drawing is supposed to be like (a couple pages back). There is no need to make it fancy and I really can't imagine Bruce hiring a group of workers to build an underground museum or bunker. You'd think Batman would be more comfortable in a large, dark cave much like the rest of his buddies (the bats). All what's needed is a parking spot, a place to store the suit and accessories and the computer/s. The more basic it is the better. The Batcave should look like the type of place that only a Batman would ever be comfortable in.

I loved Caine's delivery of that line.

In what way was that line clumsy?
