Sequels Bryan Singer would love to return to X-Men universe

i have said this time and time again lots of x3 problems can be fixed it is just the matter of putting the effort to go back and look at the mistakes. Also how to intelligently fix or alter the damages from that film.

i def want him back why wouldn't you x2 is easily in the top 5 of best comic book movies in my opinion and everyone after him ratner and hood have made horrible films.

Yeah, but the biggest problem of X3 were the deaths of extremely important characters. If writers would go and try to fix them, and bring these characters back somehow, than the credibility of the X-films is weakened even more. Having the cure not be the cure would make everything about X3 a waste. It'll just show audiences that nothing in these movies stick, and that will cause them to lose any weight they had. I don't think anyone could pull off Xavier and Scott coming back without it seeming totally out of place.

Actually having the cure be a failure would even anger magneto towards the humans even more. It would show that magneto was right saying the human would strike first and it would bring more chaos which would be good

I think the cure should just be the Legacy Virus.

That is a direction I would love them to take if a sequel was ever made!

I agree, the legacy virus is an awesome storyline, I posted a possible trilogy ages ago, where I thought the next logical steps would be...

X4-Sentinels (Trask + Graydon Creed) are created in response to/fear of (the public display of) how dangerous mutants have proven to be (D. Phoenix + Magneto's war) plus the Legacy virus outbreak is hinted at

X5-Legacy Virus makes headlines and spreads like wild fire amongst the human community, villainous humans watch as it kills mutant-kind, sabotaging any hope of an antivirus--intro Sinister + Morlocks (safe haven where a cure is rumored to be developed) an interesting twist could be the revelation that it's actually the negative effects of the cure plus, a human contracts the disease and like in the comics, the story should be treated like the A.I.D.S. outbreak

X6-Apocalypse what humanity has been trying to prevent in the past films has finally come true: human irradication (idea from X-Maniac)

If Singer comes back than we'll see that Cyclops disappeared for five years to come back and find out that he knocked up Lois Lane......No way I'm good.

Between his decisions have Rogue and Storm drop the accents for no reason, dumping X3 and causing a **** Storm of confusion that led to the guy from Rush Hour directing, and the fact Superman Returns was hard to watch than a straight razor going into my eye.....I feel NO need for him to come back. There are plenty of directors much better than Brian Singer, if they do more X-Men sequels they just need to start with someone of amazing quality from the get go, not some guy who may or may not do it justice.

^ Rogue had an accent, it was more subtle though. And Storm dropped the accent because Halle couldn't do it properly. I think X-men is where he belongs, when it comes to superhero movies.

Rogue's accent was nonexistent in X2 or X3, and if Halley Berry couldn't do the accent established with her character through every comic book written with her being from Africa than Brian should have made an executive decision and either gotten her an accent acting coach or have told her to take a hike and replaced her with one of a thousand better actresses. He was the one with creative control of these aspects, therefore its his job to get them right. The writers wrote the amazing scripts, but it is up to the director to stop and go "How can I make this all make sense on screen." The witters for the movie AWESOME, David Hayter is AWESOME, Brian Sing.....he failed big on many levels. He needs to stay away from comic films all together and go back to his wannabe dark emo genre.

I'm pretty sure Halle had an accent coach. In the commentary for X-men, I remember something about Singer saying how funny it was that there were a lot of accent coaches because so many of the actors had to portray accents. And Fox would never let Singer replace Halle. She made dah money!

dude you are making no sense Brian did great in xmen 2 the accents didn't bother me. I did not expect someone to do a full blown african accent for a full trilogy and h had n say in x3.

i think he was more concerned with tellnig a great story the abscence of the accent did not hurt her character really in x2

rogue did have a small subtle one in x2 tho

I think we should get a new director. Singer had his shot, now its time to go with another director's vision. As much as I enjoyed his X-movies, I agree that his desire to return to the franchise does smack of crawling back with his tail between his legs. I think he's finally realized that leaving the X-men for Superman was a big mistake and is now wishing to recapture his glory. Way too late, Bryan. Way too late.

I find a bit ridiculous to think he wants to use X-men movies to recapture his glory, he doesnt need the x-men for that, he can do many different movies to be recognized, with good critics and all.

The X-men are just another superhero movies. He just like the characters and he started the movie universe, so he should continue it..... I think.

Well, obviously what made him leave X-men was glory in a sense. He said he always loved Superman, but I really suspect that part of why he left is because he thought that Superman was going to be a bigger movie. Greed in a way.
Bryan Singer hasn't done very much since Superman and he got a lot of praise (if I am not mistaken) for his work on X-men. It seems to me that since Superman wasn't as good as everyone expected he wants to come back to X-men (something that he did well on). I doubt he'd want to do X-men again if Superman had done as well as they wanted. How is that not trying to recapture glory?

why it cant be just love to the x-men universe?

Many directors just want to work with whay they like, not for have succeed or more glory.

If he wanted more glory, he could do a gay drama like Harvey Milk or a war drama.

Not everyone works for glory, guys. :cwink:

No I'm making perfect sense, Brian Singer didn't tell an amazing story, the writers did, he just had the responsibility of bringing it to life on film but in many aspects failed (IMO). But sadly no one ever credits great writers like David Hayter (who is also responsible for the amazingness that is Solid Snake) but Brian Singer is a horrible director who in part is responsible for the script in Superman Returns, he actual helped write that piece of **** to show of his "artistic perspective", thank god he wasn't allowed to write anything in the X-Men or we would have seen Nightcrawler boning Mystique, oh wait that's right, WE ALMOST DID! Because of his "direction" he asked Alan Cuming to look sexualy attracted to Rebecca Romijn during their scene together.....HOW ****ED UP IS THAT? Don't even waste my time parading this guy around, nothing you can say can save him from the failure that he has become.

It is my belief that Bryan Singer does.

I do agree with you in that people really do not give enough credit to screenwriters for movies. You can have a great director, but if the script is crap the movie will be crap also.

^so true about the script, I mean it's like the talented singer who gets crappy songs and is consequently labled a bad singer... but to be fair sometimes you have to take a stand and let 'em know what they're putting out ain't so good... but I'll remain vague on the issue as there were time contrainsts and IDK what exactly happened behind the scenes

+the dissapearing accents was bothersome to me aswell... and I think they should've gotten accent coaches if the accents weren't strong enough I mean Halle's accent wasn't the best in X1, but it wasn't disgustingly horrible either... and again there was no way fox was dropping Halle from the film, her and Hugh Jackman's names and/or faces are probably on every piece of promo material of the X franchise

I suggest you watch the special features on X-men 1.5, because they really shows how much influence Singer had in sculpting the movie, and how much he worked on the story. He is credited for the story on both X-men and X2. Yes, Hayter is great and isn't recognized enough, but saying Singer had nothing to do with the story is wrong.

And I never interpreted any sexual tension between Mystique and Nightcrawler. I doubt that was the intention. That look was just a nod to the fans that they have a comic book connection. No romance.

The only parts of this that are correct were your comments about Hayter. What you're talking about from 1.5 was a short that was used basically for the intention of bolstering Singer's ego, more than likely at his request. He had very little to do with the script/story other than directing it and changing small bits and pieces around, he did not write it.

Alan Cuming even commented on that look in an interview (can't remember which one) saying that was "twitching his tail at her" and making obvious sexual references to incest. It is fairly obvious to ANYONE who saw that sceen that Nightcrawler wanted to jump Mystique's bones in that film.

^ Speaking of Alan Cumming am I the only one who thought that nightcrawler was miscast? Cumming looks nothing like Kurt, brian could of done better casting on that one, but then again it wasn't wolverine so he probably didn't care too much.

From Wikipedia:
Singer and producer Tom DeSanto envisioned X2 as the film series' Empire Strikes Back, in that the characters are "all split apart, and then dissected, and revelations that occur that are significant... the romance comes to fruition and a lot of things happen." Producer Avi Arad announced a planned November 2002 theatrical release date, while David Hayter and Zak Penn were hired to write separate scripts. Hayter and Penn combined what they felt to be the best elements of both scripts into one screenplay. Singer and Hayter worked on another script, finishing in October 2001.
I read a lot of Hayter AND Singer there, but I guess you'll believe what you want to believe, whether you're right or not. What I'm talking about from 1.5 wasn't just one thing, it was throughout all the features, from him trying to envision Magneto's helmet, trying to make things more realistic, talking to the actors about their character and their motivations, to making changes to the script all the way throughout the movie if he felt like things should be tweaked.

Saying the only reason why the movies were good was because of Hayter is ridiculous. X-men could have ended up being something like Fantastic Four and Daredevil, but Singer was hired and fought for his vision and made it realistic and believable. He's talented, just watch Usual Suspects. But he ONLY directed that one, so I guess he didn't do much on that one too...:whatever:

I agree, there were alot of people better suited for the role. Another thing that bothered me was the choice to give him scars all over his body instead of fur....Whats that all about? Please keep Singer away from any X-Projects, PLEASE GOD!

I'm sorry but his "tweaks", "minor script changes", and "designs" were the worst part of the films. If he had left it alone as it had been written it probably would have been a lot better......and Magneto's helmet sucked by the way.
