i wouldn't mind a spin-off following Faith and her path

can we please get Dushku a successful tv show? lol

I'd love a third Buffyverse show! It should be as different from Buffy and Angel as Angel was from Buffy. A Giles show set in England, it was going to happen at one point. It could have cameos from others characters, Faith, Illyria, Spike, Willow. Maybe Buffy cameo too. Sigh. I want it back. I love Joss but his shows post Buffy/Angel aren't as good. There's just a magic there and it'd be a sin to not ... make it a trilogy of sorts. One more series or movie or something Joss, please!

or even Giles the early years

or a show following the rise of a watcher, their training, etc

She could've had it if she hadnt turned it down the first time. Faith&Spike traveling together wouldve been fun to watch.

i didn't know about that

the duo seems odd, i wonder how a series would've worked out

sidenote i started watching Arrow on netflix (which i finished in a week) and Gunn was a guest character on an ep

Yeah Joss wanted to do a spin off of Faith traveling around the world fighting baddies and Spike was suppose to come with her but Eliza wanted to distance herself from the character for the time being. I believe FOX was down with it so it probably would've gotten picked up by them.

Angel and Cordelia seemed odd yet they surprisingly worked out quite well in the early years of Angel

I remember Joss even advising her that she should do whatever she wanted, had he asked her to she would have probably said yes to a Faith tv series, i think she did well by deciding to do something new. It can still happen though, once Joss gets less busy with Marvel, and Spike or Angel could appear in an episode as long as the one who appears had become human.

The comics could be a good place to explain that, since they right now take place in 2005, if Angel or Spike started to age during that time they would be able to be portrayed by their respective actors convicingly. Either way, i would like to see a 3rd tv show too to form this kind of trilogy, my vote goes to either Faith or Fray, i would prefer the 2nd one since i think it would give the chance for more new ideas and serve more as an overall conclusion to the Buffyverse.

that is very true

it wasn't until i started watching buffy from the beginning on netflix that i realized how much cordelia grew over the course of the show

the first ep i ever saw ever was the graduation day when it originally premiered and then i watched angel until the end. going back in reverse so to speak really made me appreciate cordelia as a character more. she was a shallow vapid cheerleader and she evolved and grew up. i hate what they did with her towards the end of the angel series but those first few seasons of it, she was one of my fave female characters on tv at the time

I think the problem with getting anymore buffyverse stuff is more a rights issue than anything I really would like to see more but as long as Fran Rubel Kuzui and her husband, Kaz Kuzui remain alive a movie is out of the picture as they own the film rights and any TV show would have to credit them in some way and pay them which I do not think a Studio would be willing to do.

I know its odd that Whedon doesn't outright own the intellectual property but he doesn't and I think even if he did he would not want to make more. He has moved past that but I think Noxon, Greenwalt or Espenson would jump at it along with Gellar maybe if you could persuade her though I dont see that happening either.

FOX owns the main rights to the show so they wouldnt have to pay them anything or credit them. And I am sure that FOX could get around them having the film rights.

They had to have a credit on each episode of the show simply because they made mention of the movie in the pilot and throughout the first season coupled along with the fact that they do own a portion of the character. So while I would think that FOX could get around it they would have to change some canon I would think.

I think Joss Whedon still hasn't let go of the Buffy, he has certainly moved past Angel though, he only showed passing interest in After the Fall and was barelly involved in the plot of Angel & Faith. Though with Marvel he hasn't written much of Buffy, he only wrote the first issue of Season 9 if i remember correctly, and it was with another person.

Though i'm willing to believe that he's no longer very interested in the Buffyverse and now prefers to play with the Marvel toys

Oh do they already have credit on the show?

Yeah, the Kuzui's still own a portion of the character to this day, and that's why they both got producer credits on Buffy and Angel despite having almost zero involvement in the shows altogether. That's why there was such an uproar when they wanted to do that reboot movie as well without Whedon, because they absolutely could with the amount of rights that they owned.

I think he probably would have a bit more interest in Buffy franchise if he could do more with it outside of the comics

I don't know if it's fully a lack of interest either, so much as time. He's the new "it" director after the success of Avengers, and probably has stuff being thrown at him all the time now, plus he's currently in the middle of Avengers 2 work, and he's got a hand in tieing in a lot of the other Marvel movies being worked on as well.

Glad to hear you're enjoying it so far! I'll be very interested in hearing your thoughts on S5 once you finish. That one remains my favorite of the bunch. But yeah, S2 and S3 especially are fantastic also.

Also, once you finish the show, you might want to go back and watch "Restless" from S4 again. I know it's not everyone's cup o' tea, but it's one that really benefits from re-watches. Over the years it's become my favorite episode the show ever did.

You watching or planning to watch Angel?

I finished season five today and I loved it. Might be my favorite finale beside Season Two. Damn, the latter half of this season Whedon just liked to rip your soul out with sadness. "The Body" is probably one of the best episodes. It's not something I'd go and rewatch anytime soon due to its nature, but damn it if it wasn't great directing and writing. This episode pretty much shows Whedon has as much as a knack for directing as writing. It was nice to see a medium so writer's driven be just as involved in terms of directing.

"Restless" was great because it wasn't your typical "Let's do some crazy ****" finale. It was a nice respite considering Adam wasn't even the main villain for the entire season, so a finale that wasn't off the wall exciting was appropriate. But it was just as interesting as an exciting finale would be otherwise.

Whedon really captured the bizarre world of dreams while still being thematic. I mean the man with the cheese on his head. Dah fuq? Genius though.

And my favorite episode thus far is either "The Zeppo" or Spike's first episode. Xander being my favorite character and all, "The Zeppo" is such a genius episode about him.

I gotta say, Spike's arc if pretty damn convincing and highly entertaining. He's one of my favorite things about the show and his change is part of it. At first I was worried that he'd be "neutered" to appear just for the sake of it, but it actually makes sense and is endearing to him as a vampire while his acts are of humanity without a soul. He's more interesting than Angel for me anyway.

If we're talking about spin-off's I'd be perfectly content with a Xander/Giles/Spike road trip television series or tv movie. Just three of my favorite Buffy characters riding along the country having to solve **** while bickering is entertaining to me.

And I'd like to get to Angel when I have time. But first I want to finish Buffy then get onto Firefly.

Yeah they have a credit on every episode of Angel and Buffy, its downright stupid, but they literally did nothing for either show but collected a check because of their willingness to produce Whedons original script for the movie which introduced the character to pop culture. Like Spector said, they can make a movie tomorrow and their really isn't a damn thing Whedon can do about it, or FOX for that matter.

Am i the only one who has found the thing with Demons not well explained? Buffy, Angel and co. kill them without remorse because they are not human and therefore mostly evil, but thoughout the series they have been shown to have just as much diversity and emotions. [BLACKOUT]Expecially when Angel killed that slave demon in the finale of Season 5, during the whole Season it seemed like he was practically asking for help, then Angel poisoned him to poison one of the members of the Black Thorn[/BLACKOUT]

never really thought of it. I guess Buffy was cool with Anya when she was human but after she became a demon again, she had no problem trying to kill her

I think because majority of demons didn't have souls but could gain a sense of morality/turn good. But majority of the demons they did kill were just evil.

Graduation Day was the first ep I saw too. And went on to watch her from Angel onward and then I went back and caught up. I think Cordelia by season 3 of Angel was the most developed she got.

They should have a Faith spinoff with Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus" as the theme song. "Reach out and touch faith!"

Gotta say Angel as a character on his own show is very different from Angel from Buffy. At least season 2-5 Angel. Plus Wesley joins and grows and outcools Giles and rivals Angel in the badass department.

IMO Angel was a better series. It really hits its stride in S2 and S3 as a whole was the best television of the entire Buffyverse

Really? That's quite bold. I guess I'll need to check it out for myself eventually.
