Fantasy Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel the Vampire - Part 3

Ahh that picture makes me sad. Both because I know how depressing Zander's life has become, and because Buffy and Giles didn't come to the reunion

I'm glad to see him interacting with fellow cast-mates though. He was notably isolated when EW did the Buffy reunion special.

David Boreanaz refused to be in the same room as him.

The new Buffy comic is certainly testing me as a fan...I know its a reboot but the characters are so different (more advanced)...Cordelia is a saint who wants to save the enviroment and doesnt have a bad bone in her body (atm) and Willow is all hip with her hip girlfriend while Xander is depressed.

Yep. Nicholas confirmed it at a con (18:10 mark)

I wouldnt want to be in the same room as Boreanaz too, the guy is a *****ebag.

Im kind of liking it so far.
They need to do more world building but so far im quite happy with what they are doing...its better than season 12 comics thats for sure.
Of course i can only approve of it when Spuffy happens but so far its okay.

I just wish someone would get the rights from Whedon, there would be so much potential for the buffy universe but nothing seems to go.
Barely any merchandise or anything...i want more buffy stuff.

Well

Well, I did meet him at a convention, and he is an odd guy. I had to wait an awful long time for him to show up at his booth to get an autograph and was kind of disappointed after.

^He's an odd guy indeed. Haven't met him personally, but his troubles with addiction has been prolonged and saddening.

Yeah I heard that. I don't know the details (obviously) but it seems harsh on Boreanaz' part. Brendon has done some crappy things no doubt, but Boreanaz is no saint either.

Look as far as Boreanaz goes, I understand he doesn't want to be typecast. I like Bones and SEAL Team, but he doesn't really have the greatest attitude toward Buffy/Angel fans. Just a vibe I got from interviews though.

I just watched that over the weekend myself. I had no idea how badly they mangled the remaster. I knew it was bad but... wow that was bad. And sloppy. And lazy.

LOL the level of careless ****ery to put out a shot where the crew is that clearly in the picture.

Thank God I've got the DVDs.

That's true. Please tell me they didn't do this to Angel.

Damn Zander looks like he's getting ready to play a Sherloque version of himself lol.

Everyone else is looking great though. Although I can't really workout who's next to Fred and who's beneath her between Wesley & Spike?

Really ah that sucks when cast mates fall out, was there every any info on what caused the friction?

I almost got the DVD set once but put it off. Later when I heard there was a remaster I decided to get it but then the stories of how poorly remastered it was started coming out. Now I'm going to look for a DVD set that doesn't suck.

Since Disney owns Buffy now, I do wonder if she'll be showing up on Disney+ with a rebooted series in the next few years. Buffy would be perfect competition to Netflix's Sabrina. Last I heard, Whedon was working on a new version for Fox in 2018. Maybe he's still handling it.

The one next to Fred is Kennedy from S7. And of course the one guy that no one may know is Clem if I'm not mistaken.

Oh yeah is that the girlfriend Willow has in the final season?

No way Clem I forgot about him all together lol

A Buffy reboot always seems to be 'in the works', honestly I've stopped taking news about it all that seriously. Last time it came up it felt like a pretty half-hearted maneuver from Fox to have another IP on the list for their impending sale to Disney.

I do wonder if Disney will have any interest in Buffy moving forward. The studio is loving the strong females these days and our Miss Summers helped make that mold. Maybe someone can dig up that animated series? The format change would shave off some of the edges and make it a pretty good fit for Disney+

My big want is a proper HD remaster on Blu Ray. As much as I appreciate Whedon's aspect ratio beliefs, I expect the show may have received better treatment if he was willing/eager to see it converted to wide-screen. 4:3 is a hard sell these days. Sucks that Buffy hasn't earned a proper restoration, and also sucks that Angel won't likely see one either without the sister show.

I really think Disney+ has a good chance of getting a Buffy show. This might be the strongest chance it has gotten thus far, since it seemed like Fox was dragging their feet. Perhaps Fox's hesitation was purposeful, if they considered the fact that the Disney purchase was gonna put most of their projects on hold indefinitely or outright cancel them. Or maybe Whedon just wasn't ready yet. People love their supernatural shows and Buffy is one of the most well known, with a massive built-in fanbase. It really is perfect competition for shows like Sabrina, Supernatural, and The Magicians. Maybe even American Horror Story. Personally, I'd love a Buffy show that's similar in tone to The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. So mixing in campy humor with pure wit, sheer horror and supernatural fervor that digs deep into the mythology with a well-assured intelligence. Pretty much the old show, with or without Whedon's involvement. I'd rather he was involved since he created Buffy, but there are plenty of other people who could do the Slayer justice.

On a side note, I wouldn't count out the series getting an eventual blu-ray release either. Disney loves to capitalize, as they should.
