Fantasy Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel the Vampire - Part 3

Just don’t make it a reboot - get Joss on board and make it Fray, and they’d have my money.

Maybe Sarah Michelle Gellar could even return for a team-up with Fray, or even a supporting role as her mentor. Hell, I'd even like to see the daughter or son of Buffy fighting alongside Fray. Not familiar with the comics, but the concept of a slayer in the future does sound cool.

Fray the Vampire Slayer would work well as the show's title. I know her name is Melaka or "Mel" for short, but Fray just sounds better. Lets people know that it's connected to Buffy, while also being it's own thing. I wouldn't want it to take place as far into the future as the comics seem to, but I would like for a significant amount of time to have passed. I'm thinking 20-30 years after Buffy.

But if Whedon isn't involved, I'd like to see a new Slayer. That way, the showrunners can do new and unexpected things with the character without having to adhere to the comics, like they probably would with Fray. If we get a new slayer and keep Fray in the distant future doing her thing, that would work for me too. That way, we could get a faithful Fray spinoff down the line. I can already imagine an episode with the new Slayer being temporarily whisked off into the future somehow, crossing paths with Fray and setting up her world.

Maybe more like 50 years or so. They could come up with all sorts of reasons for SMG to appear - that's the nice thing about shows revolving around magic, lol.

Yeah, but that's what the Fray spinoff would be for: so we can still get the futuristic aesthetic, the devolved Watchers council, banished demons and the vampire resurgence. I just don't think I'm personally ready for a new main show to be set that far into the future yet. Good point about the SMG thing, but again, I'd just like something closer to current times since we haven't seen that version of Buffy's world yet. The world's changed since the 90's and I think that's worth exploring in a series.

I love the idea of an older Buffy that's raising a family until she's lured or forced back into the life of slaying. Then we get something mirroring her earlier days; but instead she's a busy mom this time, balancing her home life, work life, and slayer life. She wouldn't be the main character, but it would be awesome to still have her in the show with that storyline.

Yeah, that's what my first post was about. Having a main series about a new slayer taking place in present times and being mentored by Buffy, then having a spinoff in the future starring Fray. The best of both worlds.

Another reason I'd like to see an older Buffy is because I want her to reflect on her mother's unexpected death. Perhaps Buffy is now her mother's exact age when she died, and she's deeply messed up over it.

You're right. At first I was suggesting that, until I reconsidered it in the same post. Whatever ends up happening, I just want a quality show! Just give us more of Buffy's world already, lol.

Lindsey McDonald was one of the best characters in the Buffyverse, IMO. I thought he was one of the more interesting and deep characters, and it is very interesting when you compare and contrast him with other big characters, particularly Angel and Spike, IMO. Spike, for example, like Lindsey, was bitter and jealous when it comes to Angel, but instead of allowing those things to consume him like Lindsey, he went out, fought hard, dug deep and forged his own path and became a champion in his own right. He even managed to win over Buffy and beat Angel in a fight. Lindsey, on the other hand, could not win over Darla in the same way. Both wanted to be the big bad also, but were never quite that. In the end, Spike managed to win Angels trust and respect, whereas the former Wolfram and Hart lawyer never achieved either of those things.

I felt the writers made it very clear that they wanted us to compare Spike and Lindsey when they had Spikes hand cut off around the same episodes he was interacting with Lindsey. Both characters can look at the other and see an alternate version of themself, how things may have turned out for them had things been different, had they shown more determination, drive, and fortitude in Lindeys case, or had they allowed themselves to wallow in self-pity and bitterness in Spikes case.

Overall, I feel Lindsey is one of the more underrated characters.

I tried to watch Buffy on Amazon Prime the other day. The film quality didn't look very good.

See that's when I think it got good. Obviously not BTS, but story-wise: the best stuff to me was the Angelus arc with Faith and Willow, and the Jasmine portion, both of which came after the pregnancy was well-known. And the finale was probably my favorite of the series.

I gave up around the time Cordelia cut her hair short, dyed it blonde, and Connor appeared. I might've gotten to the end of that season but got bored.

I remember giving up on Buffy before Season 7. Maybe even by Season 5. I was fed up of the Scooby gang and all their Whedonisms. I did watch the occasional episode here and there like the musical one or the finale.

She got pregnant in early S4, so it was before the pregnancy. But the haircut in Mid S2-3 was just her having the freedom to finally do whatever, especially the blonde since Joss didnt want 2 blondes on BTVS during S1-3.

She honestly looks much better as a brunette. I used to have a poster of her on my wall. I think it was this one, or something similar:

Bad haircuts happen to a lot of actors on long series sadly lol. SMG in S6, DB in S5.

I totally agree that they ruined Cordelia in season 4 and sadly she never got a deserving end to her arc. Although I already hated the developed romance between her and Angel that started in season 3 if I recall correctly.
