Fantasy Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel the Vampire - Part 3

Dark Willow Season, if only for this, which, to this day is till heartbreaking....

Ah, that's one of my favourite scenes.....sometimes Joss could overdo the schmaltz with Xander but it was absolutely perfect here. Xander's finest moment up there with The Zeppo.

As for the talk of a new show, I could live with a new cast with a new story. S7 kinda ruined my desire to further see Buffy in a leadership role so while I'd love to have SMG back, I'd want her role to be more interesting than mentor.

A new cast with Willow and Faith back as mentors would actually be really cool to see.

Just did another three episode stint

First one was with angel having visions. Interesting twist that Buffy was having them too. Was nice to see some hints at how horrible angelus was over the years, but also, he was a pretty lousy human maybe too

THe Hansel and gretel episode wasn’t my favorite. But it was nice for them to show that willows parents don’t really seem to know or care what she’s doing.
I forgot about Amy lol. And MOO? Come on Joyce lol

The episode where Buffy loses her powers was really good I thought. The betrayal she felt from Giles was a really good scene and seeing her play vulnerable was pretty darn good. And man, the subtle part where she wanted Giles to go with her to the ice thing in a role where her dad usually filled it and he ignored it, man, vicious. This might be one of my favorite episodes so far.
And Giles is fires

Might be hard, but try not to forget this episode when you get to S7. It actually introduced a major, MAJOR part of the final season.

This is probably not the last time you'll find yourself saying this. ;)

"Helpless." :hrt: I like Buffy's relationship with her friends and all, but her relationship with Giles was the true heart of the show, imo.

If you keep doing trios, your next trio is amazing. :D The next episode was the one that made me realize how genius the show actually was, and the two following eps (which are basically a two-parter) are where the main arc of the season takes off in a big way.

I've been watching again too. Just finished Angel S2 and Buffy S5.

Honestly, even the episodes I don't like are starting to grow on me.

Not looking forward to Angel S4 when I get there, though. That season is gross.

I didn't like the Cordelia stuff but I liked S4 for how heavily-serialized it was - it was almost like Angel crossed with 24, lol.

cool, i think i know what you're going to say it is though

yes. giles is one of my favorite characters and i really like the interaction between the two of them. equal parts humor, equal parts heart. that's why i said it was buh-rutal when she was trying to invite him to the ice thing and he wasn't even listening to her at all or caring. or if he was listening and just shutting her down because he knew he had to stick the needle in her? even worse

looking forward to my next trio of eps, but it might be a day or two (or a few lol) because i go back to work saturday

What do you think it is?

Yeah he was emotionally detaching himself because he knew what he had to do and hated it. Not his proudest moment.

What do you think it is?

those creepy demon things were summoning something and it happened to take forms of people angel killed, like Mrs. Calendar and the housemaid, etc. It kept calling itself the First evil and i really think i've heard that phrase before.

it wasn't just one form so it was something that could take the form of anyone from anytime it seems. so like if someone else had seen it, it probably would have been other people. Giles might've seen Jenny though, but if it was Oz or Xander or something, i doubt it.

Spoilers so be warned about clicking

The First was the Big Bad of Season 7 and its primary form was that of Buffy herself

Working on completing my Buffy comics collection.

I had thought I already had every Buffy/Angel/Tales/Spike/Fray comic story ever published between loose issues, hardcovers, trade paperbacks, and omnibuses but it turns out there is one out there that is super hard to track down.

From March 1999 - February 2000 there was a Buffy comic published two pages at a time in 12 issues of Previews, Diamond's monthly comic book catalog/magazine. And the story was never archived, so it has never been reprinted in any form. I can't even find scans of it online.

So far I have tracked down:
March 1999
July 1999
August 1999
October 1999
November 1999
December 1999
January 2000
February 2000

So I still need April, May, June, and September 1999. Can't find them anywhere.

But once I do, that will be every Buffy franchise comic story ever told so far.

Chosen turns 15 today.

Ugh, I'm so old.

In similarly depressing 2018 news...

Emily Nussbaum
@emilynussbaum

I had hoped that Warren from Buffy S6 wouldn’t be such a resonant character in 2018.

How is Warren "resonant"? He's as much of a pathetic loser now as he was then, more.

Just turn on the news on any given day.

Marti Noxon regrets killing off this specific character and thinks they pushed Buffy to far in S6.

While I was recently re-watching the series, I started an informal tally of all the regular or recurring “hero” types who bought the farm. Then I noticed they were all female. :wow: Granted, male characters like Flutie and Snyder didn’t make it - and they weren’t especially villainous. But I wouldn’t call either one of them a close Buffy ally (much less one of the Scoobies). Now maybe this was just a statistical fluke. Given the female-centric nature of the show, the odds favored more women characters being killed off. I guess… :thf:

A bit late but yeah, never got why they felt the need to go so dark.
Season 6 was already heavy with its overall feeling and them, but then they made this noticeable cut after the musical episode and decided to go even darker down.

I think they had more female allys then they had male which makes it look worse, majority of the male reoccurring characters were villains and died. I think the only major male ally they had came in S7.

how does Buffy fandom rank in pop culture/cult love?

does it have as rabid fanbase as that of Firefly?

how's its fans compare to say Trekkies or Star Wars or Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter nerds?

Buffy > Firefly in my opinion. The show is still very popular I think and is loved my a huge fanbase.

Oh, c'mon. I love Tara as much as the next Buffy fan, but in a dramatic sense killing her off in that season was the best thing they could have done.

The "they killed her off because lesbianz!" crowd at the time was so lame. No, morons, they killed her off to send Willow right down the rabbit's hole of her addiction and have a big intense finale to the season.

Granted, it was probably Joss' idea and not Marti's, but it's pretty lame she's backtracking on the choice all these years later.

Buffy is constantly in the top 10 shows in whatever list it's in and has a huge fanbase. I'd say it is certainly bigger then Firefly.
