Burn Notice

The wrap up won't be until after the break. But then the final episodes air. They knew it was the end for some time. It's why we got the big Fiona break up at the end of last season.

It said there were only 4 episodes to go. Is there a break now until the winter (like in previous years) and no Burn Notice next week?

Hmm... Maybe I'm wrong. I will have to investigate more. TOO THE GOOGLE MACHINE!!!!

Well, given Jame's actions this last episode, I really think more than ever that he is actually grooming Michael as his replacement. This organization would be well suited to Michael's overall world view. Now he could help people on a grander scale and with more resources than ever before. But... It would mean leaving Fiona forever I think. :csad:

If that's the case, then the CIA will always be trying to take down Michael Weston. He'll be the equivalent of James Kendrick, and eventually they're going to try to send someone in to infiltrate Weston's organisation the way Michael did with James.

Also, James hasn't actually told anyone his last name yet has he? So if Michael and his friends accidentally slip the name Kendrick in there, they'll know he's been talking to someone else.

And I checked. There are only 4 left to go and it ends at the end of the summer. No winter episodes like in previous years. Or they could have had a break earlier in the season and left several until November, but they chose not to do it that way this time but have a straight run through.

The episodes will continue on, there is no break.

108 7-10 15/Aug/13
109 7-11 22/Aug/13
110 7-12 05/Sep/13
111 7-13 12/Sep/13

That's what I figured. Let's hope it's all tied up within 4 episodes.

Jeff D. has said the finale would be bitter sweet. I just have a feeling once Stanton Parrish is taken out, Michael will end up actually taking over his operation. His noble streak and need to feel he is doing things for the benefit of others, his need for a "mission" is a big part of who he is. I could even see James telling him that he wanted Mike as his successor for some time or even that it all came down to James being behind the initial Burn. Needless to say, Fiona would not be happy if Mike were to now have a new "mission" and if he were to choose that over a life with her, then he would most likely never see her again. Sounds bitter sweet to me.

Nice theory. I can see this happening. The rest of the crew will join Michael or disown him or die because of something stupid that Strong and the CIA pushed making Michael's choice easy, take over James's operation.

I'm just happy that the show is going out on a note of high quality in the drama department. I have never been as down on it as some have been these past few seasons. But I will say, it seems that Nix never really had a good handle on the conspiracy that Burned Michael in the first place. If you were to go through the seasons and try and follow that thread it does not flow very well or make a lot of sense. They tried to cover that flaw by having a "big bad" each season that you could get behind Michael taking down, but that part of the show was very flawed in my opinion. But I think the breezy, action/adventure nature of the show stayed undiminished and the characters and "case of the week" stories were always enjoyable. I look forward to what ever Jeff D. does next (WB, please cast him as BATMAN!!!!!!!) and I know my summer entertainment in the future will be a little poorer for not having a quality show like this around. Let's all have some yogurt in remembrance.

I will have yoghurt in cherishing memories of Mike's farewell.

I just had one before I read this thread.

A lot of parallel themes going on last episode. I was so hoping the hit on Steel was a test for Mike but instead they went for stark angle without any easy outs, for everyone it seems this time. I was never under any illusions as to what Mike had done as a CIA agent in the past. Like Jack Bauer I assumed he's done some repugnant things, but killing a man who was presented as a character who was genuine in his affection for Mike is as dark as the show has ever been. But as great drama it works. I'd say the show's motor is purring as crisp and clean as Mike's black Charger. Can't wait to see how this all plays out, no matter the road it goes down.

Yeah one of the things I liked about the latest episode.

No way back for Mike now IMO, it's going to be interesting to see how they close out.

No way for him back with Fiona or maybe his friends, but he could still come back to the CIA. After all, Jack Coleman ordered him to carry out the hit. Maybe he'll get what he always wanted by being back in the CIA but it will be a pyrrhic victory.

Yeah, I could see that. Let's remember that Jeff said the finale would be bitter sweet. I have always thought that even though the show is light and breezy, that Mike the character is kind of tragic. I mean, he wants back in to a life that has brought him and his closest friends and family nothing but pain and loss. But I think that despite Mike's talent for blending in and assuming new mission specific I.D.'s, he can't change his own essential nature at this point. He will always be this driven person that needs a "mission".

And it has begun.

After last nights episode all I can say is WTF Mike?

Ok, no way back to the CIA now lol.

Wow. Did not expect to see Simon again.

Pretty badass fight though.

I don't remember when Simon played before. Which plot was he involved in and which season?

I don't remember what season but Simon was invovled when Mike had that handler with a British accent.

I'd forgotten Simon was going to pop up, that really pushed Mike over the edge, it's like he's completely lost himself at this point.

I have to say the 'Clear & Present Danger' influenced shoot-out was really well done.

I don't know why but I don't want Michael to go back to the 'good' side.

No way back indeed. Set the controls for the heart of the Sun. They are going out with a bang though.
