Burn Notice

So... Here we are. I knew this is what the conflict would be. Man.... My heart was in my throat the entire time Mike and Sam were tussling. I was so afraid Sam was going to get thrown off that bridge and go splat. Luckily they were over water. Did anyone notice how the weather itself was helping sell things this ep, with a light rain and wind in scenes? Maybe that was the production crew, but it was super subtle. Anyway, let me live in my fantasy that the heavens themselves are mourning the loss of BN.

Mike was having a real crack up moment on the roof there. I want to believe he would have an almost unconscious reaction to save Fiona, but the seeming writing on the wall is that things could get REALLY dark.

That the show is still getting this kind of reaction out of me tells me that even running almost on empty it's better than similar shows are in their prime. Can't wait for next week. Who's flag draped coffin will it be revealed to be from the preview?

This was a fantastic episode and I can't wait to see the finale. I have no idea how this will end....and that is so exciting!

It's exciting, yet nothing just came totally out of left field either. Mike's frame of mind, his decisions this season are consistent with his character. Simon's appearance may have been the tipping point, but things have been boiling under the surface since Nate's death. By the way, that was great use of Nate tonite by Sam. He really had a point. Even if Jame's organization is some kind of Robin Hood outfit, who can tell them when they've crossed a line?

This is all heading towards that bitter sweetness Jeff was talking about.

Final episode promo. :(

On another note, I agree with y'all. This ep. was so great. & the whole time Mike & Sam were fighting on the road out there, oh my god...I was so nervous thinking Sam was gonna die. And the whole thing with Fi... The finale is gonna be insane.

Was really worried there for Sam. Looks like Mike will rejoin the old team & fight a good fight.

two things I noticed from the promo.

I see Fi. No Sonya.

Military funeral. Question is who for? Mike the former Ranger or Sam the former SEAL?

Edit:

Re-watching the promo again in slow-mo.

It's Mike. Army dress blues are folding the flags unless Strong or Jesse have an Army background we don't know about. It could be a fake out too... TDKR.

It was undoubtedly a good standalone episode. Too bad it is so sloppy in the sense that it kind of overlooks every aspect of the characters that had been developed for 7 years. Everything that Michael was doing, are things that Fi has been encouraging for years. The writers have just been too fluid with story and characterization for me to really give a damn at this point.

When hax Fiona ever encouraged Michael to either betray the CIA or join a world wide vigilante network? She's wanted him to walk away from the life of covert ops, true. What's going on now is a whole other kettle of fish.

If you pick any pre-season 4 episode, I guarantee at least once in the episode Fiona will suggest solving the problem by putting a bullet through the head of the baddie and his goons. It is really no different than what Michael is signing on for. Hell, Fiona's background is in arms dealing. She was a member of the IRA! The effin IRA! A terrorist organization! This is something she has never repented for. In fact, in the episode with her brother, she expressed that she remains sympathetic to the cause. Now we are supposed to buy that she is Captain America?

My guess is definitely the latter, they'll [blackout]totally TDKR it[/blackout] and [blackout]fake Mike's death to get him out of this[/blackout] for good.

If there is any sense to the last seven years, that's what I expect to happen.

It was a really well acted episode, the scenes with Mike and Sam and Mike and Fi were very tense, and Kendrick remains an enigmatic entity, but I agree with Matt that Fi's role as moral objector doesn't truly fit.

Honestly I wish they'd made this season 3 seasons ago to freshen things up when the show was starting to tread water, as this has been the most exciting and complex story the team have had in a long time and I would have liked to see Mike go all the way into becoming disillusioned to the point of actually running James' organization, and then make the following seasons about him turning back and then finally redeeming himself..

I'm gonna freaking miss this show...

When [BLACKOUT]Maddie said she was going to sacrifice herself for Michael,[/BLACKOUT] from that point on, I lost it.

I can't believe they killed Maddie. Of all the characters, I did not suspect her.

Haven't really been keeping up with this final season, but caught the finale tonight. Pretty decent but pretty standard at the same time. Glad Sam is still gonna be fighting the good fight

Maddie went out like a boss. Still, she shouldn't have been this involved in the series.

Liked how everyone recited their lines from the opening credit one last time.

I would watch a Sam & Jesse spin off.

That was an awesome send off to a wonderful show. Maddie made me cry and all the lines being said made me laugh. I loved it I'm going to miss this show a great deal.

I find it funny that the same actor played the main villain in two of my saddest series finales of late. John Pyper-Ferguson played Stanton Parish in Alphas, and here he played James Kendrick. He was excellent in both roles. The comic nerd in me is now thinking of a lot of characters he could portray.

This finale hit me pretty hard. I am glad that the series is getting a conclusion and ending with some closure. I love the show, but it's better to go out instead of dragging on like some shows. *cough* Supernatural *cough*

Can't believe that they killed Maddie. Of all the people that I was thinking that would die she was the last person on my mind. I thought that Jessie would be the safe choice since he's only been around since season 4. Michael was too tied into Fi, so I figured that she wouldn't bite the dust. Sam would hit hard because he's so lovable, so I was prepped for USA to go for our heart strings instead of doing what's safe. Damn why'd they kill Maddie?! She never hurt anybody.:csad:

I did like the finale though. I spent the past year watching the entire series and catching up where I left off, so I'm glad I got to see it go like this. I can see a spin off, but if they never do anything else with the characters I'll be fine. I'm loving Graceland, so now that Burn Notice is over I'll give another USA show a shot and watch Covert Affairs on Amazon Prime.

Now Alphas was sad because I didn't know that it would end. Damn you Syfy! *falls to floor crying*

Man.... That was a damn good ending to the series... Maddie was a badass...

Damn :waa: Also, loved the Season 1 callbacks.

So does this mean that Michael was narrating all this for Charlie right from the beginning?

rogue_agent: That's an interesting point. Fiona did say to "start from the beginning", why wouldn't he recount how he got from being a spy to the cabin? Nice catch.
