By the Bristling Beard of Odin! The Thor Thread - Part 2

It was awesome seeing Simon Bisley doing some work on Thor.

He should be doing the book full time.

based on the recent interviews with Aaron, about how he's been building towards his unworthiness with Thor always being uncertain whether today will be the day he can't pick up the hammer anymore, I wouldn't be surprised if Fury just said "You know you're not worthy to hold that thing.."

It'd be the knock to his confidence and self-esteem that's the final nail in his worthiness coffin

I have a feeling it's something like, "You're not prepared to deal with today's problems and you know it" or something like that. Thor ended his confrontation with Roxxon feeling pretty broken because he was completely out of his depth the whole time, unable to deal with Dario Aggers' strategies, which relied on modern conventions like legal technicalities and government sanctions. It, um... it didn't make a whole lot of sense, given that Thor lived as a modern man in the modern world for at least a decade (his life as Don Blake began on Blake's first day in medical school), but that seems to be the greatest failure Aaron's set up for Thor, at least in Thor's own mind.

Sounds like Thor's being hit with Johnny Storm Syndrome, wherein no matter what personal journey you undertake whatever you should logically know from your experiences will get thrown out the window by whatever writer comes next.

More like because he was never Don Blake in the movies, they're trying to erase any influence of Blake on the comics. Same as White Fury, present-day Dum Dum, etc. I'm expecting Peggy Carter to have a hundred new adventures revealed all of a sudden anytime now.

Or that.

honestly, i truly believe that somewhere during his decade on earth living with us heathens, Thor clearly has double dipped in the french onion dip atleast once. That being said im all for his unworthyness, idc who his father is thats unnacceptable.

MY biggest question is, will Thor keep his Weather powers he was BORN with?
Just because he becomes unworthy of Mjolnir doesn't mean he becomes unworthy of his birth powers.

he still will be thor, just without his hammer, atleast thats my understanding. He is still the god of thunder, he was before he had mjolnir

There's STILL that B.S. that half of marvel thinks MJOLNIR gives him the weather power even with a bunch of different stories showing other wise.

I made a guess *shrug*

Yea, I myself never thought the powers were solely in the hammer, but I do know some people who do. But a powerless Thor could be neat for story opportunities? Or has that been done before without giving him a mortal identity like Jake or Donald?

me personally, i have 0 interest in reading a "thor becomes a regular average joe" comic.

Hercules is powerless right now, see all the neat stories being told about him? :(

It was terrible. Not even Pak could make that interesting.

There were a few good bits here & there, one of my favorites being Hercules saying to Hobgoblin "You play at being a monster. I've spent my whole life slaying real ones." or something like that, but on the whole... yeah, not that great when compared to what came before.

I hope the female Thor run is short lived. Spider-Ock was less than 2 years, I'm expecting a similar time frame.

Yeah, and between Thor, Steve, and Logan, my 3 favorite characters are not their characters right now
it's totally lame

I'm betting it'll be phased out by the time Avengers 2 debuts in theaters.

I was planning to skip this female Thor nonsense myself. The in universe narrative justification is really weak and overall it just feels like a cheap sales shock publicity stunt.

I'm not miffed about it like some, it obviously won't be permanent so why not try and enjoy it while it last?

What I found funny was the letters page.
On the one hand you have this levelheaded long time fan that is taking it badly but expressing himself in a rational way despite the hasty dismissal of something he has not read.
Then the counter point is written by an emotionally unstable suicidal wreck that invest far too much hope and attributes far too much importance to the comic.
I really feel Aaron did himself a disservice by printing that letter as affirmation for his creative decision.
That woman needs a lobotomy.
