Of we all know in some form or other it will happen, but since there has been little to no news recently...

Michael doesn't sound that enthusiastic about the future of the Batman franchise.

In an interview with British magazine Shortlist, the actor -- who played Butler Alfred in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight -- said: "As for the future... if they ever make another Batman I will be in, I will be the butler..."

He went on: "But I don't know if they are ever going to make another Batman. If they do it won't be for quite a while."

I thought we all learned to ignore Caine becasue he just says random information that doesn't amount to anything.

-To sum it all up. Yes he is right a new Batman movie won't happen for awhile. Why? Because WB wants the team from the past 2 movies to come back. If, Nolan after inception, or another movie after that decides not to come back. WB will make another Batman movie without him.

HIGHLY doubt any of that. MC is great and all, but crazy as hell. If he had cited something, like said "Chris told me he doesn't think he wants to do another since Heath passed..." or something of the sort, i'd buy it. But there's nothing here but his opinion which is prolly based in "Hmmm, Chris hasn't mentioned anything to me. That must be the end of it all."

They re probably keeping it a secret from him since he cant keep his mouth shut. The guy's brain hasnt aged well.

I heard they're filling right now.

They just didn't tell Michael. :(

I would not be upset if they said TDK was the last film in the Nolanverse..so much you can do anyways since his Batman world is realistic.....then we could maybe get a Martin Scorsese directed Dark Knight Returns and sequel films.

Maybe WB would like to branch out from the Nolanverse. Nolan already said that Batman is the only super hero that exsists in his universe. Perhaps WB/DC would like to incorporate the other super heroes to get a universe going like Marvel did. Maybe it would be a plus if Nolan doesn't comeback.

Although I know you're not much of a fan of Nolan's Batman films, I would be incredibly disappointed if he doesn't return for just one more.

I also, would like to see Batman go back to having some more of a fantasy vibe in a future film but would really like to see where Nolan would take him for one more outing.

If Nolan doesn't return it will just be like Burton's films all over. I enjoyed both but to my dying day will always wonder what he would have done for a third film.

You ve probably seen my posts where i admire Marvel's strategy and how well its executed. I am forever asking for a similar thing from DC. Superman will be rebooted, GL and Flash are coming, so do we need a Batman reboot so that he can fit in with the rest? I hope that DC has some people overseeing their movie projects so what they should do is reinforce them with comic book writers, connoisseurs, etc who would guide the directors and oversee a similar merging process. Marvel's best comic book writers give more than a hand to Marvel's movies.

DC should force Nolan to open his grip on realism just a bit (going back to Begins realism levels and style of direction and maybe even a bit further). I know Nolan feels like god almighty now and he is probably full of himself, but it wouldnt be hard to get him to "unrealism" it up a bit.
And after this glorious origin, it would be a shame if we didnt see the story going on. Do we need another reboot? Do we need random directors coming in and doing a story that ties to no continuity? And yes Snyder, we'll read the goddamn DKR, you dont have to adapt it page by page!

Another director should take it up and keep it going. Its what happens in the comics whenever a writer or artist is replaced. The new guy will work on the merger of the franchises because i know Nolan would never comply to such a demand. I dont know about you, but i'd like some cameos, or maybe even team ups. It doesnt necessarily have to be a Flash or Superman cameo, but Question, Green Arrow, Black Canary and other more grounded characters could easily appear. And since they'll probably never get their own movie, DC could promote them through these films (as long as its done right and not overplayed). Though i suspect that even that will enrage many batfans so the cameos could happen in Superman's more open world. For example a Green Lantern could warn him about a new threat from space without further participating in the story. Or he could visit Bruce to ask him for advice, help, tools, etc.

Each major franchise (Batman, Superman, GL, Flash) can keep doing its thing and every few years they can do a Justice League movie. Grimdark Batman fans can choose not to watch it because it wouldnt be their batman! :whatever: (see video. Btw this episode was directed by Paul Dini)

Ok i agree with you, but not with the part in bold. It just doesnt make sense. Had Burton done 3 films you would have wondered what he'd do in a 4rth. But Nolan has to come back even for those who dont like his work, because he put Batman in a position that he has to come back from. Burton didnt leave anything open. Besides, the way he was going, his next Batman film would have been an S&M film with batsuits.

im very surprised WB has not said anything. its been a long time now. maybe MC is right?

If there weren't a Batman 3, I'd eat my hat, crap it out, and then eat it again.

There's going to be a Batman 3, it's just debatable on who's going to direct it.

Doubt that...WB knows better to make the same mistake twice.

Yup. Batman is DC's cash cow. If Nolan doesn't return you can be sure that WB will pull no punches in getting the next best possible director. And if Oldman or Bale drag their feet on returning if Nolan's not at the helm, you can be sure that WB will open up their check books to make sure they are happy with the direction the franchise is going.

Yeah that's likely.

It's so funny to me that THIS thread brought you back out of hiding.

I believe WB is holding a special dinner this February for their anniversary. I'll bet B3 will be announced there.

I want Nolan to come back just because he needs to finish his story and redeem Batman.

There is 100% certainty it will happen. A Batman movie that is the second highest grossing movie of all time will get a sequel, no matter what.

And Christian Bale, Michael Caine, and Gary Oldman will star in it.

The big question, of course, is whether or not Nolan will be back.

Batman 3 will happen but question is when? Long as we get Nolan return.....

I never thought that TDKR was like Scorsese's style.

I always imagined that he would work well adapting The Long Halloween because it was very Film-noir/Crime film and full of gangsters.

Maybe that or something entirely fresh that is the Film-noir/Crime film genre and is still full of gangsters.

I completely agree.

And yes Snyder, we'll read the goddamn DKR, you dont have to adapt it page by page!

I'm not excited at all about Snyder's interest in TDKR adaptation, either.

Anyway, it will just be over-the-top gore, shock value that Snyder is known for and I seriously hate that psycho characterization of Batman.

Another director should take it up and keep it going. Its what happens in the comics whenever a writer or artist is replaced.

Exactly, this is what they should do when Nolan decides not to direct.

How can Snyder do TDKR page by page? the film would be like 3 hours........

Snyder did Watchmen page by page (with some changes) and it was on the edge of being 3 hours but it was cut.

The director's cut DVD/Blu Ray of Watchmen will probably be 3 hours and will have the alternate ending that is closer to the GN.
