Last week, in the wake of Netflix’s recent decision to cancel both Daredevil andIron Fist (not to mention Luke Cage) just when both series seemed to be hitting their respective strides, a big fuss was made over a report that Daredevil was also the fourth-most popular series on the platform when it began streaming, something that made Netflix’s move seem particularly odd in retrospect.

With Disney gearing up for a new streaming platform of its own, where new series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will live, it’s easy to work out the logic as to why the partnership between Marvel Studios and Netflix came to an end. Still, though, the fact that Netflix doesn’t make a point of publishing ratings data about its programming made it impossible to substantiate the claims about Netflix’s supposed popularity.

Today though, Netflix published a 2018 list of “All The Shows and Movies We’ve Loved Before,” detailing the popularity of its top-performing content as measured by a number of, let’s say, “imprecise” metrics. While the report doesn’t include any hard numbers, its list of shows with the “highest average watch time per viewing session” is conspicuously devoid of any of the new seasons of Marvel shows that premiered this year.

Netflix makes a point of indicating that the list’s rankings aren’t reflective of a show’s overall popularity, which makes one wonder what the point of publishing the list in the first place was, if that’s the case.

But the Marvel shows’ complete absence from the report is telling in and of itself.
Depending on how you look at it, either Netflix is owning up to the fact that a lot of people are really feeling the Marvel binge fatigue, especially after a handful of seasons of rather lackluster solo series...or this could just be Netflix’s very polite way of acknowledging that its little corner of the MCU is truly coming to an end.

it clear what their problem is

I actually think this is good news. Two years is not that long, and at the very least it confirmed that Marvel can still use Charlie Cox as Daredevil, and they don't need to recast. Do we know if this only applies to the movies, or just the TV series?

This doesnt confirm they can still use Cox. It just means they cant use him until 2020. There could be issues that could create problems. Plus if Disney puts Marvel Studios in control of future marvel shows it could result in a very different approach to any future shows. Feige and Perlmutter supposedly dont get along or agree at all. Feige and Marvel Studios could decide to do their own thing from the ground up and just forget the Netflix shows. Essentially doing what Disney did with the old star wars canon.

oh yeah ,this below .
the actor are free to be used
as stated below from Newsarama
This clause doesn't seem to preclude actors from these shows from appearing in other non-Netflix Marvel projects; both Stan Lee and Alfre Woodard have appeared as different characters on both sides of the Netflix/Marvel Studios divide

THR also notes that The Punisher - whose second season is said to debut in January - was not part of the initial Marvel/Netflix deal, and therefore may not (or may) be subject to this clause. However since Punisher debuted in Daredevil before being spun off, these contract terms are very unclear.

it'll give the writer's at marvel enough time to sort things & since this was linked to the Cinimatic univers and certain characters from that are getting tv series of their own ..... it should tenichally apply to both sin the tv serise were link to the cinimatice universe .

but they're the ones to answer this best.

MARVEL's NETFLIX Heroes Have 2-Year No-Appearance Clause In Any Other Projects - Report
Although Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist don't have a future at Netflix - they may not be appearing anywhere for the next two years due to a clause in the Walt Disney Company's original 2013 agreement with Netflix, according to Deadline.

Although Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist don't have a future at Netflix - they may not be appearing anywhere for the next two years due to a clause in the Walt Disney Company's original 2013 agreement with Netflix, according to Deadline.

The Hollywood trade reports that the characters which debuted in the shows - as well as the shows themselves - are effectively mothballed from any non-Netflix projects for two years from the date of their cancellation. If we go by the dates their cancellations were announced, these clauses would elapse October 15, 2020 for Iron Fist, October 22, 2020 for Luke Cage, and November 29, 2020 for Daredevil.

A similiar window of exclusivity for DVD and Blu-ray editions of Marvel's Netflix shows has led to those physical releases coming out 18 to 24 months after their streaming debut.

This clause doesn't seem to preclude actors from these shows from appearing in other non-Netflix Marvel projects; both Stan Lee and Alfre Woodard have appeared as different characters on both sides of the Netflix/Marvel Studios divide.

THR also notes that The Punisher - whose second season is said to debut in January - was not part of the initial Marvel/Netflix deal, and therefore may not (or may) be subject to this clause. However since Punisher debuted in Daredevil before being spun off, these contract terms are very unclear.

Marvel's initial deal with Netflix was announced October 2013, with their flagship show - Daredevil - debuting in April 2015.

This doesnt confirm they can still use Cox. It just means they cant use him until 2020. There could be issues that could create problems. Plus if Disney puts Marvel Studios in control of future marvel shows it could result in a very different approach to any future shows. Feige and Perlmutter supposedly dont get along or agree at all. well Disney removed perlmutter from control of the movies & it workd out better for the movie versse. and the two people running the tv side producing are both Joe Q& lobe. just put those guys under feige perlmutter should just being owner and not running the show on any thing at all anyway.

Perlmutter had three strikes here against him with both inhuman's and rushing both iron fist and Defenders too. so it should be taken away from him with his bad chose's

Another thing they have had great writers and successful show & character creator's like both
jms-mars-send_bigger.jpg
J. Michael Straczynski‏ Verified account & Josh wheddon work for them in comic's these guys should be put in charge of the direction of shows as well they know how make thing work, finatially too. they both have their special effect's house.

Don't get your hopes up for The Defenders appearing on Disney+ for some time

So no reboot or continuation until sometime after 2020.

Yes but after 2020 Defenders can be use again in Marvel projects

If MCU cant make continuation of Netflix series so they 'll have to retcon

Marvel cancels shows from Netflix, but seem doesnt take care about series from Hulu and Freeform

Technically more than two. Season 2 debuted in March 2016. So it was more like two and a half+

S1 2015
S2 2016
Defenders 2017
S3 2018

Which would be fine. I would still be excited after 2020.

Sounds weird but I think it would be cooler if they showed up on Agents of Shield or Cloak and Dagger.

Yep. For eg I couldn’t be more excited about MCU X-Men and that is probably 2022 at the earliest if not years later. I just really hope that they take up the option to continue the shows at some point, at least Daredevil. I also would love to see Defenders reach its true potential.
