yeah I mean she was heavily involved in that redesign, of course she wants the helmet

Uh. No spoilers but from what I've read, Carol's position in Civil War II apparently keeps getting more and more indefensible. She's well on her way to become the new Tony Stark, just as I feared. I can't wait until this crap is over and I can start buying her comics again.

This has been one hell of a week for my favorite superheroes. First Batman has sex with Batgirl, and now this. I'm almost waiting for Spider-Man to come out as a supporter of Trump in the next Ultimate Spider-Man episode, because why not? Kick me while I'm down, entertainment industry, will you. :hehe:

As for giving our Captain the helmet, as I said many times before I think it could be a good idea if executed properly. But I'm totally fine if they don't go for it.

Uh... what? Batman had sex with Batgirl? How and why did that happen?

And what is Carol's position in Civil War II again? Why is it becoming indefensible? I'm not following the comic.

Theres an inhuman that can see the future and she found out. She tries to prevent the horrible things he sees by ambushing villians before they strike. I havent read the latest issue but as of the previous one, 2 of her teammates (Rhodey and Bruce Banner) were killed and She-Hulk went into cardiac arrest bc of her overzealousness and it doesnt seem to affect or change her stance. She means well but she's out of control and not acting rationally and more importantly, responsibly. She's in a position of power and making wreckless mistakes.

I'm not following the comic either, because I'm voting with my wallet. :hehe: I'm just going by what people on various geek sites and blogs I trust are saying. There's disappointment about the way she (and other characters too) is being written.

I guess I should've spoiler tagged it? Not sure if you want to know, you're still in time to avoid spoiling yourself since I didn't say exactly where it happens.
But if you really want to know, it's in
The Killing Joke movie. Why did it happen? Because some people hate nice things, pure and simple.

i just read it and yikes, yeah she came across so much worse. She's borderline villian territory. I read that the tie-ins flesh her out but Bendis is writing her fairly one-dimensional here. She needs to be taken down but it looks like someone else is going to have to die bc of her

Where it happens? Did they have sex in some unusual place?

And why would they even do such a thing? It's like Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch having sex almost.

LOL...the two have done that in the books. It happened in the Ultimate Universe

I've seen other people say more or less the same thing.
I mean, I'm not against Captain Marvel being written to be in the wrong every once in a while and I can understand why her sometimes rash personality would put her at odds with other more cool-headed superheroes (especially when dealing with delicate issues like the one presented in CWII), but "borderline villain" doesn't exactly sound very in-character for her.

It's like Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch having sex almost.
Thanks for reminding me of that. :o I can't believe someone got paid to come up with that idea.

Yeah I agree. I'm 100% against the faux-hawk helmet, but the one that's more like a facemask and leaves her hair free could work, imo. Like so:

It could just be primarily used in flight to keep stuff out of her eyes.

I'd also be fine with them not including it at all, too, but I'm just saying I think it could work and actually look cool if done right. I always thought it looked cool in Dexter Soy's art:

Like other heroes, I dont see it making it in. Brie is headlining the movie. She will be the only female with a solo film and arguably their most prominent one. They will want to showcase their star and hiding her behind a helmet takes away from that. Unlike someone like Spiderman or Iron Man, a mask/helmet isnt a required part of her look so they can easily get away with it. Its completely unnecesary

The same could be said for Star-Lord's, who is seen even more often without the helmet than with it, but they still put it in the movie. Ultimately I think this will just one of those things that comes down the specific director's preference. Either they'll think it could look cool, or they won't.

Here's the thing. In books 1-3, I thought she was entirely reasonable if not right. I'd argue it was only in book 3 where she had a bad result despite good intentions (obviously, things haven't gone perfectly, but I actually think she was right at first and the results would have been worse if she did nothing). But, in book 4, she went straight to crazy town. Her reasoning didn't push her to go that far.

I think the tie-ins (Ultimates and her solo book) certainly help flesh things out and shed some light on everything (I think Tony's crazy reactions were explained by the death of Rhodie and I think the case could be made that she's being pushed to extremes in part because of his death as well), but it's still too much too fast and ruins the nuance that I think had existed previously.

Star Lord requires a helmet though. He is a human adn to have him in space breathing with no apparatus is a hole in the narrative. It serves a vital function. he is literally dead without it. Carol doesnt need a helmet. Its only there for aesthetics and its an ugly one at that

If Carol wears anything on her head, then I want it to be the classic Ms Marvel domino mask. No helmet or other types of masks. Besides, the domino mask will show off Brie's face the most.

I absolutely hate Bendis. He's doing Carol like he did Scarlet Witch.

That looks perfect, IMO. Completes the look and looks badass.

As you mention Star Lord, I'd have Carol's helmet work in a similar fashion, peeling back when she's not in action:

No it doesn't. Just like it doesn't take away from Iron Man, Cap, Ant Man, Spidey, Black Panther, Star Lord, etc, because none of these characters are fully suited and booted all the time. Capt Marvel wouldn't be any different in that regard.

Star Lord requires a helmet though. He is a human adn to have him in space breathing with no apparatus is a hole in the narrative. It serves a vital function. he is literally dead without it. Carol doesnt need a helmet. Its only there for aesthetics and its an ugly one at that

To have anyone breathing in space with no apparatus is a hole in the narrative, space is a vacuum, there is nothing there to breathe. If Carol is engaging in space flight (or high altitude flight for that matter) she should absolutely have a helmet.

If they do give her a helmet, you can bet she won't be wearing it on any of the posters. Iron Man never wears his, and Cap often doesn't either.

Fair enough but I do think being the first and only female to headline a film makes her different. Her face and recognition will be important in marketing and selling her film in a way that it wasnt for past male heroes before her.

Again Star-Lord is human. Carol is more than that. Have you followed Carol in the books over her 40+ year history? She has alien DNA. The Kree do not need apparatus to breath in space and neither does she.

Besides your point makes no sense bc the helmet doesnt cover her nose; just her eyes and forehead. Its not used for breathing purposes

Well, first of all, they have to take their Bat Suits off and then, well....what was it Jennifer Lawrence said to QS in Apocalypse??

No to the helmet. Why cover up all that cuteness? :ilv:

Besides, actors need recognition for screen time. Think of all those times of showing Tony Stark's face behind the mask.

That clip is.....wow. And acting talent to boot. I really feel like Marvel casting has done it again.

Even though it's been almost 40 years since her origin was written, Florida still makes sense, considering we still send people/things to space from there.

Either that, or California, where the other big space launch facility is: Vandenberg. Not as big, but also very specifically Air Force. Granted, Florida works better, because we've already got two major heroes based out of California.
