Plus making Carol half-Kree half-human if Marvel were to change up her origin story then that would be an interesting path to take

Carol is half kree and half human in the books. Her powers derive from the fact that her DNA was merged with the Kree. Im not sure what you mean. That she should have an alien parent?

Let’s go over what we know so far about the movie. Feel free to add to the list because I probably forgot something here or there.

Her Powers: How does she get them? When she enters the Quantum Realm? Or is it something she finds? An item or a power source she comes into contact with? At this point, it is impossible to say.

Her Costume: Considering her suit will be very identical to her comic outfit which has the Kree symbol, Carol will encounter them at some point in her movie. So basically it will be a 99% certainly of her meeting this race but if the Kree are in the Quantum Realm with her, will they be invaders, explorers, imprisoned or stranded?

Possible Villains: The story could be more about survival for all we know. ‘I’m trapped here and need to escape!’ Maybe with a few hostiles and big one like a guardian blocking her escape route to home which she has to fight. Again, impossible to say right now.

Quantum Realm: What will it be like? Something like an alien world from GotG or something even weirder or scarier. How does she get there? Does Thanos have anything to do with it? I say most likely.

Given her Kree connection it would make sense for her villain to be a Kree or instead of that who should her villain be? I would suggest Moonstone

Of characters Marvel has the the rights to that have ties to Carol Danvers, the Kree are the most obvious. Other than that, Moonstone is probably the best choice. I'm pretty sure it won't be Ghazi Rashid. I'm trying to think if Kelly Sue DeConnick had any memorable villains besides bringing back Yon-Rogg (and I think Deathbird, who is with Fox), but I'm drawing a blank.

According to the science guy for Ant-Man, Scott Lang, in theory could be the most powerful superhero. Every hero, no matter how powerful they are have theoretical limits. But, if you're Ant-Man with a malfunctioning regulator, you could rewrite those limits; cheat the laws of nature, so to speak. Superman can lift a max of 200 quintillion tons, but Ant-Man could crush him with 201 tons after a visit from the quantum realm.

Some reference as to how powerful Carol is as Binary:

As Binary, she can fly into the sun and create a singularity. She has the power of a star. In CW, General Ross called Thor and Hulk "a couple of 30 megaton nukes.". Well, on the surface of the sun, that is nothing but a drop of water on the ocean. So, Carol is crazy stupid powerful and consistent with what Feige has been saying about the character.

I have no problem with them using the Quantum Realm stuff as long as they keep some kind of Kree connection.

I think if anything it'll put pressure on them to step up their game, and that can only be a good thing, imo.

I think Marvel was going to trot out their A game no matter what, but WW being successful certainly won't hurt things. It seemed pretty clear to me that CM was a big deal to Marvel.

Maybe it was just because I'm so impatient, but it seemed like the script was taking forever and, I hope, that's a good thing and it isn't being (hasn't been?) "overworked". Sometimes it's okay to leave things a little bit rough edged and let the actor digest it; especially when you have someone as talented as Brie.

I think that WW has shown that we can have a awesome woman superhero as a headliner and CM will actually benefit from WW coming first. I expect CM to be better than WW (though it may not hit the same RT levels). I think Gal did fine, but Brie is clearly the more accomplished actor and I think she'll be able to hit emotional ranges that Gal can't (as yet) quite reach.

I really hope they keep her origin story (basically) intact, but I'm starting to think that might not be the case.

I don't think we'll see binary for some time.

Moonstone as opening villain

I think it unlikely but I hope that they lay the groundwork for Moonstone in the first film at least. Introduce the character of Karla Sofen at least and develop her before giving her powers in the second film is how I would do it were it up to me.

So it's set to start filming in Feb/March right?

any idea of the budget? I'd guess minimum 150 million. Maybe even close to 200 million.

I'd say less. I don't think it'll be more than Ant-Man's 130 million.

I think it'll be right around the 1st Thor's $150m.

I'd bet 175 -200 million. This is a no holds barred statement film. One a long time coming. The first Guardians cost over 200 million, this should really approach it. Or better yet, I HIGHLY doubt Marvel will be afraid to.

I can see this film getting Wonder Woman type reception

IA with Krypton. Moonstone is too similar to Captain Marvel to start off with her. They need to have Carol established as CM first before they introduce Moonstone and play off the contrast between them

I'm thinking this as well. Easily minimum 150. 180/190.

It def needs a high budget.

Any appearance of Brie Larson in Avengers Infinity War (don't forget the end credits) will been done to create interest for her movie. Like BvS did for Wonder Woman.

I hope so! I personally don't care about whether Marvel or DC is the best. Just give me a great show with incredible characters and action, and I'll be there!

I love Wonder Woman. I want to love Captain Marvel!

And like Civil War did for Black Panther and the new Spidey.

How popular is CM in comic book genre? Or in relation to WW?

Like is she a showcase for Marvel for their female superheroes?

She's not as 'iconic' as WW but imo she's a cooler character. In terms of Marvel, I'd say she's their equivalent in 2017, the biggest female character in their stable. While historically the best female characters (ie best written) tended to be in the X-verse, for the last decade the rest of the MU characters have been pushed more into the spotlight. Carol has emerged as one of the biggest stars in the Marvel Universe top to bottom. I expect this film to be the biggest solo debut in the MCU to date (not including the Spider-Man co-production with Sony).

Yeah, she's not nearly as popular as WW, but like with the GotG, with one movie, she very well could be. She's a great character (TONS of personality) and a major powerhouse of a superhero. They nail this, and she'll be a household name, no problem.
