Captain Marvel Captain Marvel General Discussion and Speculation - Part 3

I believe the Kree will be involved, they have been mentioned through out the MCU for years. If freakin AoS used one and showed one then we definitely should get them in the movies. Like I mentioned before GOTG2 mentioned them too so that is promising.

Heck, GOTG1 had a Kree as a main villain.

How's this though, before the start of IW we get a prelude scene showing the Collector's wrecked displays. He's cleaning up when a bang and motion draws his attention to an open display case. A blonde woman in an Air Force flight suit rises up from the rubble and she is looking pissed!

"So Mr. Collector, I think it's finally time you and I had a good... long..." and clenching her fists, "talk..."

Personally I like the Kree connection but I could see Marvel ditching it and having Carol get her powers from a 'white hole' like when they had her become Binary in the comics.

Kevin Feige keeps going on about how powerful Carol will be in the movies which sounds far more like her ambient energy absorption powered versions than the original standard superhero power set she had (superhuman strength, endurance, stamina, flight, physical durability).

It would make sense for Benecio Del Toro's Collector character to be in Captain Marvel given his connection to not only the Guardians universe but also because of his character's connection to the Kree

The quantum realm is some pretty trippy stuff. I could see how it could at least be partially responsible for birthing an extremely powerful superhero.

That is a crazy and interesting place to take this. Looking forward to seeing them pulling this one off. I wonder if they'll dare to touch upon the Micronauts.

Right now I actually think... Not much of a chance. In fact I think they won't do anything to undermine Carol's story by shoe horning in any other heroes from previous films. That wouldn't necessarily preclude a Marv appearance as the Kree Captain is a part of her mythos. I just don't see a War Machine or Thor cameo being in the mix for Marvel Studios' first female led wide release film.

Just hope the Quantum Realm origin stuff isn't true. It'd be like Superman not coming from Krypton & him not being Kryptonian if there's no Kree connection. Also wonder who the villain will be.

What if it's something like, a Kree device that taps into the Quantum Realm is what is responsible for her powers? Why jump to the conclusion that the Kree or aspects of her classic origin are negated by the inclusion of some pseudoscience dependent on the QR?

Or the Kree device could be used for her escape as well. Rewatched Antman not long ago and the Quantam Realm really should be more weird and alien than being compared to life out in space. Also, don't forget the origin Wasp entered the Quantam Realm years before and it would be nice for Carol to findout what happened to her.

I definitely hope they keep the Kree connection AND the basic origin story unchanged. I'm trying to think of a case where the origin story has dramatically changed, but really can't think of one. I guess maybe Ant Man sorta, but DS, IM, Hulk, CA are all pretty faithful retellings. Thor doesn't have an origin story really, but they did lose the "turn back into Donald Blake" stuff if he didn't have his hammer for a certain amount of time....Jane is different (tho not a SH).....let me know how that worked out for them.....

I still think Carol Danvers will appear in A3. It's a super high profile movie followed by CM and I think it's WAY too good of an opportunity to miss for hyping her movie. I say she pulls the hero move seen from the perspective of others and disappears. The actual origin will, for sure, be in CM and I hope it's Kree Kaboom. I'd love to see the opening of CM be of Carol in her fighter jet with all hell breaking loose around her, she pulls the hero move from her perspective that should kill her and "Shazam" she's Captain Marvel (ooops....wrong one...).

Keep the Kree....keep Kaboom.....if possible, keep Marv. If I had my way, he saves her post hero move. He'd be in A3, but we don't even know it until CM.

Think we'll see Starhawk and his crew around this one? Or will they hold them off until GotG v3?

GOTG3
I have a feeling if they showed up in this, most of the GA would not remember. Stick them in GOTG3 and people will remember the Yondu connection.

I'd just like to point out that as Binary, Carol can manipulate gravity and create a "white hole" in the center of the sun. Gravity warps space-time, and if the distortion is great, you get a black hole. I see no reason to assume that Carol can't get her powers from the Kree if her powers are quantum realm based. Anyways, I'm going to finish reading The Grand Design by Steven Hawking. I remember hearing about how gravity ties into The Theory Of Everything. This is some really interesting stuff. Her powers can't simply be explained by being half alien. She's far more powerful than any Kree.

That's some top notch research to be doing ahead of the film!

Do you think Wonder Woman getting rave reviews will help or hurt the Captain Marvel movie?
On one hand it will show a female lead can carry a movie. On the other Captain Marvel will be compared to Wonder Woman and if it isn't as good will suffer by comparison.
Or will there be no affect at all?

A cameo by WM might help and wouldn't distract away from the perception that it's her film. Or just Rhodes outside of the suit. Being her commanding officer perhaps.

I'd have no problem with one or two Avengers showing up for a short cameo. A tie-in in would be helpful. It didn't hurt Ant-Man to face off with a scene against Falcon and it feeds into the larger universe story arc.

As to compares with WW, if Wonder Woman is a success, I think it could only help to get people hyped up for the 'contender' heroine. But in the end, the make or break is always the movie itself and not the competition.

I think it will be irrelevant. Wonder Woman is a more well known character. I dont think her success will have any bearing on this film

I have no problem with them using the Quantum Realm stuff as long as they keep some kind of Kree connection.

I think if anything it'll put pressure on them to step up their game, and that can only be a good thing, imo.

Like when DC started working on Batman v Superman which got Marvel to counter with Captain American Civil War. Competition is good.

I think Marvel will probably just give Carol the Quantum Bands as the source of her powers. The bands are powered by the Quantum Zone.

Mar-Vell used Kree designed Nega-Bands which were based of Quantum Bands. Nega-Bands were powered by the Negative zone which Fox probably have the rights to so Marvel went with the Quantum version since they already introduced the zone in Ant-Man.

High tech rare alien bracelets is a easy enough way to give Carol her powers

Personally, I think Carol's powers stay biological. The Nega bands would make her less unique in the MCU & too similar to Stark & other heroes who rely on tech for their powers.

I don't have a problem with her powers coming from the Quantum Realm as long as the Kree are still involved.

With the Quantum Realm coming into play it makes me wonder which other realms we could see
