Captain Marvel Captain Marvel General Discussion and Speculation - Part 3

Marvel comics has IMO failed with their push for Carol to be their lead female character in the comics. She is pretty hated right now by a lot of comic fans and her books don't sell well. I think Ms Marvel is even more popular than her. The character needs this movie so bad.

Well the DeConnick run is already considered classic and it's what made her beloved by many new fans which is why this film is taking cues from it. But these crossover events like CW tend to make somebody hated, like Stark back in the day.

Marvel comics has been doing many things wrong recently imo, which is why I no longer read them, but one thing they hit a grand slam with was Ms. Marvel.

They'll make her more traditionally heroic in the film I'd think.

I hope there is some kind of inclusion of the Kree and Marv.
Me too.

I'm not a comics purist or anything and I usually roll my eyes at complaints about changes to characters/plot points in movie adaptations, but honestly, removing the Kree element from Carol's origin would be waaaaay too dramatic a change for me. To me it would be like Spidey without the radioactive spider or Cap without the super-soldier serum. It's The Thing that makes her origin her origin, imo.

I'd keep an open mind, of course, but including the Kree and Mar-Vell in some way certainly makes sense to me.

Well, she's in a universe where the Kree already exist, right? I'm sure they'll still be in her origin.

The Kree and Mar-Vell will feature in some capacity.

Marvel changes elements with their adaptations but they do usually give some sort of nod to long running components of the comics.

Wouldn't it make more sense to reveal CM news at D23? I don't know, I wonder how Marvel will break up their slate for the two events in back-to-back weeks... Makes sense for Ragnarok and BP to feature heavily at Comic Con while things further in the future like IW, CM or anything else to be D23 exclusives. Either way I'm sure there will be some surprises at both.

That would make sense. Ragnarok and BP at Comic Con and IW & CM at D23.

Isn't SDCC meant to be a 90 minute panel? I heard that somewhere...

If so it's going to have all the big guns.

Most people dont read her solos so that ends up becoming irrelevant. Most comic readers do read the big events and CW did quite a bit of damage to her. Marvel didnt think that one out

IW will be at both, it is too big of a movie. I think Ant-Man & Wasp info will only be at D23.

I hope so. I'm anticipating them all but that one is the biggest by far.

IW talk says Thanos throws a moon at the Avengers... Feige said Carol can smash a moon... Coincidence?

I wonder if CM will be Marvel's first prequel. Because I can't see all the **** that goes down in IW I can't see how it could take place in between.

Maybe it happens at the same time and leads into Avengers 4.

There's at least one other movie happening between them anyway, so it's not that huge a stretch.

Yeah I forgot about Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Infinity War is not a two parter. There no reason to believe that one leads directly into the other.

It won't be a to be continued massive cliff hanger, but they are still very much connected.

I think Ant-Man & Wasp can happen at the same time or just before the event starts. Captain Marvel maybe best as a prequel, she needs a villain and we know Fury is in the movie. I don't see her fighting Thanos one on one in her movie. She either has one of her main villains in a prequel or she fights a Black Order member.

That's probably true yep.

Apparently Kathryn Winnick is now following Kevin Feige and there's rumors circulating that she is apparently going to appear in CM and also was cast as Proxima Midnight. Of course this was people chatting on Twitter so take with va HUGE grain of salt.
