Captain Marvel Captain Marvel General Discussion and Speculation - Part 9

I just saw the movie tonight, really enjoyed it! I was worried it might be another Ant-Man and The Wasp leaving me feeling nothing that wasn't the case as it had some cool things going for it and things to say and I appreciated that. Not perfect by any stretch but a good start for the character on film for sure and a solid entry to the MCU catalogue.

Steve and Carol most likely would if anything
I'm greedy. I want Carol/Steve, Carol/Thor, Carol/ Tony, Carol/Valkyrie (this would kill me in a good way, two alpha females going at it), in fact I want her to interact with everyone. Endgame can't come soon enough.

I found the whole Stan Lee cameo to be rather odd. This is a man who was accused of serial groping/sexual harassment. So I guess Brie Larson and the Marvel team saw fit to honor him anyway? I get that he's dead, but to have a female superhero smile at him in this movie was really inappropriate and odd considering the allegations.

CinemaScore:

Wonder Woman: A
Black Panther: A+
Infinity War: A
Ant-Man & Wasp: A-
Venom: B-
Aquaman: A-
What I'm getting from that is no one c as n judge the legs of a movie by the Cinema Score.

Not everything the industry does or uses is sacrosanct. And just because they've used it for years doesn't mean its reliable or good. Case in point, the Nielsen rating which has destroyed many quality and even popular shows that had loyal audiences and followings.

Also, Flickchick85, to be perfectly honest, how do we know it has no trolls? We have no idea who is getting polled. The people being polled by CinemaScore could be giving troll reactions. There's no way to know for certain.
You're missing the point. Flickchick85 is saying the way CinemaScore works inherently (polling people in theater after they view a film) will at least avoid people who don't watch the movie and are just spamming hatred.

To be fair what you're saying though I do agree to a small extent.

The thing about that that I can kind of understand your point on is sometimes after you watch something (especially action movies) our bodies adrenaline levels are at a high giving us this happy feeling so we're more likely to be less critical at that time. Once we've gotten home and had time to digest the media consumption we've just ingested we can sometimes change our minds about said media because we start thinking more critically. That or we watch it a second time and realize we weren't really correct with our original elation.

I know right because it is gonna build towards Carol being the new leader of The Avengers

Interesting you say this, because I was actually convinced this would happen to me too: but now that I’ve had a few days to digest, I think I just have one nitpick - I wish they had shown more of
Mar-Vell\Wendy Lawson
. That phenomenon however has happened to me after Infinity War and Aquaman, for instance.

I only just noticed, but I don't think I've seen one commercial for any CM toys or anything like you normally do for a Marvel release. Unless I missed them.

Are there even any Captain Marvel toys outside of the dolls, Lego sets and the Marvel Legends series? I haven't really seen anything besides those.

I've got a pretty stupid nitpick but I thought I'd air it.

Was anyone else bothered they didn't "young" Stan Lee up for his cameo so he looked like he did in Mallrats? It would've been pretty easy considering Samuel L. Jackson was de-aged the entire film. I mean, this is a studio who de-ages so many characters, it would've been fun if they did it here.

Stupid nitpick over.
