Captain Marvel Captain Marvel General Discussion and Speculation - Part 9

Not everything the industry does or uses is sacrosanct. And just because they've used it for years doesn't mean its reliable or good. Case in point, the Nielsen rating which has destroyed many quality and even popular shows that had loyal audiences and followings.

Also, Flickchick85, to be perfectly honest, how do we know it has no trolls? We have no idea who is getting polled. The people being polled by CinemaScore could be giving troll reactions. There's no way to know for certain.
But they aren’t giving thousands of troll reactions each. Some of the other scores are so subject to manipulation that one person could change the rating if they were dedicated enough.

I still remember walking into the hole-in-the-wall comic book store as a kid in my tiny Oklahoma hometown and buying the very first issue of Ms. Marvel. I collected the book for several years. Today, I saw Carol Danvers’ origin film at Hollywood’s iconic Chinese Theater, in glorious IMAX! Been waiting for this movie my entire life.

Awesome mate! Glad it lived up to all those years of hype. And that must be worth a bit by now!

I'm glad they didn't use that outfit. LOL

I really loved this movie. It was character driven, full of action, heart and spectacle. One of marvel’s best in terms of origin stories. I only have iron man, Black Panther and gotg above it. It started a little slow, but finished very strong. The third act was very strong, one of the best in the universe.

“I have nothing to prove to you” Carol was such a badass. She was sassy, cocky and had this, “I don’t give AF” attitude which I loved. I don’t know how anyone would think Brie was bland in this. I'm glad she's our Carol.

Carol’s relationship with Maria and Monica was the heart of the movie. I can’t believe Maria had more to do in one movie than the warriors three had to do in three movies. Monica was so adorable and I can’t wait to meet the adult version of her.

SLJ was great, his chemistry with Carol was perfect. Nick… sorry, Fury was so good here, better than any of his appearances in the mcu.

Goose was great. Initially I was like, what’s the big deal about Goose, he’s just cute and nothing more. But when he did that thing with the
Tesseract
I completely lost it. Goose will defeat Thanos, write it down folks.

Talos was great. Yon-Rogg was good and Starforce was serviceable.

The best best part for me was
the montage of Carol raising back up
that gave me chills and I almost teared-up. I’ll never tire of seeing Carol wrecking havoc on enemy ships. It was refreshing to see a female character having a good time on the battle field.

Loved this exchange between Ronan and his man
“The core”,
“The woman.”
That was perfect, no other word was needed.
I can’t wait to see this again. I rate this 8.5, same as Doctor Strange and Homecoming, but I enjoyed this more.

Unfortunately, my kid is sick so this week is a nope, but hopefully I can catch this movie next weekend.

I think it is safe to say the sequel is happening but when

After EG and SM: FFH, it's a largely unknown schedule of films but they've got a lot of sequels mixed with franchise starters. So far we know of:
-Black Widow
-Black Panther 2
-Doctor Strange 2
-Sequel to Ant-Man & the Wasp
-GOTG Vol. 3
-Shang-Chi
-The Eternals
-Likely Captain Marvel 2
-Avengers 5

I'm sorry to hear that. Hope they feel better soon.

Neither are the critic reviews of Rotten Tomatoes.

Why do awesome things like this never happen to me at my theater?
