Ladies and gentlemen, in the words of Mike Tenay:

"The streak is intact."

Pixar once again delivers with Cars. Proving that they are the measuring stick and the top standard in American animation.

A great fun and entertaining cinematic experience. Check it out this weekend.

Hopefully have my review up tomorrow night.

Basically, let go of your preconceived notions about this movie. Pixar as always still delivers.

Is it the best movie they've ever made? I don't think so. But it's still very well done and better than most of the other CG animated crap we see these days.

The movie itself is a touching memorial to Pixar regular, Joe Ranft, and synonymous with everything they've done for animation for over a decade.

"You have got to be kidding me!!!!!!"

sorry couldn't resist:O

Glad to hear you liked it,it's grown on me with each trailer and their record is stellar, where would you rank it ?

My official Pixar ranking list:

1. The Incredibles
2. Monster's Inc.
3. Toy Story 2
4. Toy Story
5. Finding Nemo
6. Cars
7. A Bug's Life

I rated the movie 4 out of 5 stars. While I really like Bug's Life a lot, it's probably my least favorite Pixar movie, but that's not meant as a knock. I think all the work they've done is pretty exceptional.

Forewarning: DO NOT LEAVE DURING ANY OF THE CREDITS! You really won't want to miss them.

Interesting list,Toy Story 2 is still top for me with Incredibles second and Toy Story 1 third
I didn't think Nemo was that good so I'm interested to see where i rank Cars

BTW shame on you for not putting my Don West comment over:( :p

I think Cars is going to make really very high numbers in box office. But I also think it will be very good animation movie, as critics says.

But my #1 is still Incredibles, it was awesome movie.

This movie seems to cause more mixed reviews than any previous Pixar-movie:

One online oddsmaker is predicting that Disney/Pixar's Cars will earn more than $77 million this weekend. In order to win on the Curaçaon-based Pinnacle Sports website, winners will have to bet that it will make less than that amount. Another website, BetUS.com, is not quite so extravagant in its prediction, forecasting a take of more than $41.5 million for the three-day opening. Meanwhile, early reviews of the film are not encouraging. Variety comments, "With Cars, Pixar's enviable run of creative triumphs comes to a skidding stop." The Village Voice says that the movie moves at "a turgid pace, with all the traction of a boxcar going uphill in molasses." David Ansen in Newsweek was somewhat kinder, writing, "Cars inspires more admiration than elation. It dazzles even as it disappoints." On the other hand, Richard Corliss in Time pronounces Cars, "the first great movie of the summer."

This movie looks so bad.

But I just found out that the car talk guys are in it.

this looks really good..I'll see it this weekend

I never lost faith in the movie, I still think its gonna be great.

i think this will do mediocre at best numbers at the box office. i think parents are sick of taking their kids to these 'cg cartoons', given that the last few that their kids dragged them to have been barely passable (madagascar, over the hedge, etc) and the general movie-going parent doesn't know pixar from fox from whoever else. track records mean nothing to them.

that said, i've read the reviews, and it sounds good, but i'm going to pass on this one till the dvd hits. it just doesn't do anything for me, even though i'm sure it'll be a really good flick.

I think you are full of crap with these theories.

None of those movies were Pixar films. Madagascar still made a ton of money like around $190 million. Over The Hedge is making a ton of money and has strong BO legs. And these are just the mediocre ones.

FYI the last 2 Pixar movies won and were nominated for Academy Awards. Cars is getting better reviews than the movies you named.

You have no evidence to support that parents can't discern between Pixar films. Because Pixar has essentially become its own brand name.

Even though it will make $150 million US BO easy.

I'm seeing this at an early show today, if I can make it.

Yeah I hope so.

BTW,

The short shown with Cars is called One Man Band.

It's very cute and it's about two "one man band" musicians trying to out duel each other to get a coin from a little girl.

it was a good short, though I liked "Boundin" more

great flick

Excellent film! Definitely the best cast in a toon

***½ of 5 stars

I'm not feeling it for some reason. I may slowly come around, the tv promos seem to be doing a better job of changing my mind.

Yeah, no. I've loved all of Pixars movies so far. I just cant get myself excited about this one no matter how I try.

Eh, I'm still skeptical of this flick. It looks like a kids' movie to me, and I thought Pixar was more or less phoning it in since it was the last movie they were contractually obligated to make for Disney, since at the time it looked like they'd be splitting up. Maybe it's good, but I think I'd feel kind of stupid going to a theater to watch it. This is the first Pixar movie that I can think of that I really don't have any interest in.

Ugh whatever.

Lassetter's been developing this project for years. I doubt they would spent this much time, effort, and money for a "phoned in" product. Ridiculousness.
