But we're not really talking a decade apart though. We're talking about almost 2 to 3 decades apart between Richard and Ben if both Ben and May are in their 70s now.

And I have been a big advocate of Meryl Streep in the role, who is in her 60s but is still relatively youthful for her age. She looks nowhere near the elderly grandmother that Rosemary Harris was.

Not really. My father was 40 when he had me, for example. When I was 15, I already had an uncle that was 65 (he was 9-10 years older than my father), married to a 63 yo woman.

Richard could be older than 40 when he had Peter.

Jason Isaacs is the one and only choice for Obsorn! :argh:

:oldrazz:

Oh, definitely. I mean, just look at the guy, he oozes creepiness:

When he was younger, he seemed more similar to Timothy Dalton, but as he's grown older, he seems to have become a cross between Timothy Dalton and Daniel Craig.

Isaacs wouldn't be a bad choice, but a bit of a safe one. Not sure if I want another safe choice.

I've already mentioned Meryl Streep, who is in her 60s. But Rosemary Harris was in her mid 70s when she took on the role.

While Streep isn't that far off from where Harris was in SM1, she does look a lot younger. I don't think May needs to look like she's about to croak at any moment and needs a zimmer frame to walk.

Mary Beth Peil would have been a great choice for an older Aunt May. I think at 74 she would be too old for multiple films in a new franchise though. :(

I like safe choices. They are safe for a reason.

There are some villains that can really benefit from out-of-the-box-thinking casting, but I don`t think Norman`s one.

I'm not saying he wouldn't do a decent job, great actor. I'm just suggesting the role could be more boring and forgettable staying with the safe choice in this case. I've argued for certain roles to stay "inside" the box, so it's not that I believe all casting should be the less obvious choice. After the last interpretation which by some accounts was a bit boring, I think it may be worth the risk in this go around.

I see. I thought Cooper was good though. Well, as good as you could be with 5 seconds of screentime and a ton o make up. And he was kind of out-of-the-box.

I`m certainly open to other names (Cranston has been suggested many times), I just think the actor needs to imposing and creepy.

I really like Copley, but I`m not sure he can pull off the imposing Norman Osborn persona. He would nail Goblin, that`s for sure, but not Norman.
Maybe the closet thing is his performance in Oldboy, but I think he can pull it off.

Oh, I see. Haven`t seen Oldboy yet. He has played villains before (Elysium, Maleficent), but I think he was terribly misused in both films. Still love the guy.

And scratch Bacon as Osborn. As of Guardians of the Galaxy, Kevin Bacon is officially Kevin Bacon in the MCU.

Cranston keeps getting passed around for all villain roles these days by superhero fandom :hehe:

Yeah,I've got family that could also serve as examples, but I'm getting tired of defending the concept. :oldrazz: It's not unheard of to have elderly Aunts & Uncles.

I've considered him too... he would be a great addition to the MCU

now who would be a good Harry to his Norm?

Ethan Hawke would be one of those pretty big gets for Marvel. He's not like a massive icon, but he's known enough in circles for his ability.

I feel like the spider man movies have over used Norman / the green goblin. I know he Spider man's joker and his presence is important to have, but I would rather the new movie focus on other villians we haven't seen yet. Kraven, scorpion, mysterio, vulture, carnage , proper venom etc.

I'm fine with Ethan Hawke in the MCU, but not as Norman Osborne.
