I was slightly hesitant about casting a CW person and a little weary about her age, but seriously how perfect would she look as Gwen? I can see her in the headband already...

This franchise is being rebooted to put Peter back in high school...and most of the casting choices for Peter and MJ have been actors who are on the wrong side of 25...the franchise is likely to stay in high school for a movie or two, so apparently half this board wants to see people in their 30's in high school, which is a tad weird.

Only a cast of that caliber would give me hope for this reboot.

Michael = Proven to be able to do something that Shia can't...which is emote and be any character.

I love Katie Cassidy, but just like Mary Elizabeth Winstead. She's too old. People above 21 are not going to get any roles in this film.

Not necessarily true. Someone whom looks young, and is around 23-25 can still get cast as a high school student and it can work. You just have to look young.

Plus, people are assuming he'll be in high school more than 1 film. Who is to say that in the sequel he isn't starting college? That would make casting a person 23-25 passable to do.

I love Katie Cassidy, but just like Mary Elizabeth Winstead. She's too old. People above 21 are not going to get any roles in this film.

That's what I was afraid of. But at least unlike some people (*cough*JGL*cough*) she can still pass as a teenager IMO. But yeah, if Gwen ends up being in more than one movie, I dont think she'd be a good choice age-wise.

JGL played a high school kid at 23ish in Brick. Have to say... it's not the most believable thing. But yeah Tobey was almost thirty when he got casted so it is what it is. I just prefer they stick to someone below 20. It's easier to make someone look older at 21 than it is younger.

I think J.K. Simmons should keep his role as J.J. Jameson as he played the role brilliantly.

I was strictly averse to Zac Efron being considered as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. However, I have seen a number of people who say that he was good in Me & Orson Welles and can indeed act well. My top choice for the webbed wonder is Anton Yelchin. I'm not keen that he's already cross-pollinated two big film franchises (Star Trek and Terminator) and 'star saturation' is not a good thing. Despite it all he would really play a convincing Spider-Man. He can easily get a personal trainer to sort out his physique.

He's also had some good smaller roles in popular movies.
