The Dark Knight Rises Casting Call (All Villains)

Great choices all around. One problem:The Creeper isn't a villain. He's just a crazy vigilante. Think The Joker but not evil.

I know. The Creeper to me is almost borderline hero/villain because he is such a loose cannon. Either way, he'd make for an interesting cameo in a future Bat-film down the line.

So far Charlize Theron is my favorite choice for Selina Kyle / Catwoman. I haven't seen anyone who would be a better choice (and please don't say Angelina Jolie).

Angelina Jolie :joker:

Seriously Theron is my second choice after Jolie and I think she can play Selina kyle, I wouldn't complain if Nolan chose her.

I'm probably going to get some heat for this,but...

The more I think about it,the more I'd like to see Leonardo DiCaprio in the Harvey Dent role. He's the same age as Bale,so it would make sense that they are really good friends. It would be awesome to see a pretty boy like DiCaprio get burned and go insane.I think he might be able to pull it off.He has in interest in comics too.His father was a comicbook dealer and he tested for Robin in Batman Forever.

It might sound crazy to some, but I think if Michael Madsen lost some weight he'd be a great Two-Face.

Too old.

I used to think so, but he is kind of too old now. Back during his Reservoir Dogs days up until a few years ago, yeah, but now...I'd rather see Pearce or at least someone closer to Bale's age.

Well, BatSignal, I will say that I can see Leo as Harvey, but I dunno if he can pull off aTwo-Face. I certainly won't give you heat over it. And I'd have to agree with Two Face on Charlize. She's definitely my second choice behind Angelina. Actually, I wouldn't really care which one of 'em got it, they're both equally qualified. I also had a good idea for Mr. Freeze, if they ever use him again. What about Christopher Lloyd? I think he'd be great at it. I think I saw his name mentioned earlier in the thread somewhere, but can't remember in relation to which character that was.

Let me throw in some ideas. I have my casting choices on the front page, but I feel like getting deeper into the roles.

The Joker, obviously, has to be an insane nutjob. He's gotta have the creepiest laugh you've ever heard, and eyes that make you want to piss yourself. It would be nice for Joker to be tall and lanky, but it's certainly not a requirement. 10-15 years ago, Robin Williams would have owned this role. But, he's a little old now, and we've got to look younger. Jason Lee would nail the terrible one-liners, the scary-as-hell laughter, and he's even got the face for it. At the same time, Jude Law is the better actor, and could get into the role just fine. Glover, while dead on in the look department, has a timid, shaky voice. The Joker needs confidence. Glover can't do that. Joker has to be over-the-top, nuts, and scary all at once. The top five for the role, in my mind, are Jude Law (Road to Perdition), Jason Lee (Dogma), Matthew Lillard (SLC Punk!), Paul Bettany (A Beautiful Mind), and Vincent Cassel (Oceans 12).

Catwoman has to personify 'sexy.' Everything about her has to scream "do me!" Angelina Jolie is literally sex in human form. She is definitely the best for it, but there are certainly other actresses who can get into such a sensuous role, but at the same time, be threatening. The top five are: Angelina Jolie (Mr. and Mrs. Smith), Rachel Weisz (The Mummy), Scarlett Johansson (Lost in Translation), Winona Ryder (The Crucible), and Kate Beckinsale (Van Helsing).

Two-Face may be the hardest role to cast. He has to have two distinct personalities. He has to be a nice, hard working fellow who believes in justice, but after being scarred, he has to become psychotic and evil. Always though, and this is the key, his two conflicting sides have to be at war with each other. In my mind, Peter Sarsgaard is the best actor to play the duel role. The top five are: Peter Sarsgaard (Shattered Glass), Leonardo DiCaprio (The Aviator), Matt Damon (The Talented Mister Ripley), Guy Pearce (Memento), and John Cusack (Identity).

The Riddler has to be a creepy, cerebral guy. I've always considered him a quiet Joker. He's creepy, cerebral, but without the over-the-top attitude. You've got to get the feeling he's always ten steps ahead. The top five are: Edward Norton (The Italian Job), Jeff Goldblum (Jurasic Park), Tim Roth (Pulp Fiction), David Hyde Pierce (Frasier), and Quentin Tarantino (From Dusk Till Dawn).

The Penguin shouldn't be a creepy sewer monster. He needs to be a smart, business-like mafia boss, who just happens to like birds - and carry around an umbrella. I doubt he could carry a movie by himself, but if he were a boss trying to fill the void left by Falcone, it could work. Everyone should call him by his name, with Penguin being an insult he can't stand. The top five choices are: Bob Hoskins (Unleashed), Kevin Pollak (The Usual Suspects), Peter Dinklage (The Station Agent), Jack Black (King Kong), and Brad Dourif (The Two Towers).

I don't feel like going in depth into many more characters, so here are the best choices for them, IMO.

Harley Quinn - Brittany Murphy (Sin City)
Poison Ivy - Kate Hudson (Almost Famous)
Bane - Nathan Jones (Troy)
Mr. Freeze - Ed Harris (The Rock)
Talia - Keira Knightley (The Jacket)
Ventriloquist - Hank Azaria (Eulogy)
Rupert Thorne - John Goodman (Beyond the Sea)
Black Mask - Ray Liotta (Narc)
Killer Croc - Vin Diesel (Knockaround Guys)

Nice ideas Brian. I can definitely see John Cusack as Two-Face and Tim Roth as the Riddler.

If there was some way I could blank out Curb Your Enthusiasm from my mind, Larry David would be the perfect Ventriliquist. But I can't look at him without laughing, lol.

The Rock does resemble that version of Harvey Dent, but THAT Harvey Dent is based off of the black Harv from the '89 film I do believe. When they switched from TAS to TNBSA and made revisions to the characters (for better or for worse) Harvey looked white like his comic book counterpart. I do see the resemblence in the two pictures above though; however, casting the Rock as Two-Face would probably end up being as sorry as Ahhhnold as Freeze.
not that bad.

the rock can act fine, he just doesn't fit the part. too physically imposing.

People like to make fun of DiCaprio because after Titanic he became such a "hearthrob", but the truth is that he couldn't stand being seen as a teen pop icon either, which is why his movie projects are so few and far between. He is an actor, and wants to be treated as an actor; not a prettyboy face to plaster all over teen magazines.

I think he could actually be a good canidate for Dent. Guy Pearce is still my favorite choice, but I think DiCaprio could be a solid choice as well. Didn't C. Bale audition for the role of Robin as well?

The Joker: Crispin Glover, Adrien Brody, Paul Bettany, Ted Levine
Harvey Dent/ Two Face: Guy Pearce, Liev Schreiber
The Riddler: Hugh Laurie, Jude Law, David Hyde Pierce
Mr. Freeze: Ben Kingsley
Penguin: Jim Broadbent
Catwoman: Angelina Jolie
Poison Ivy: Kate Beckingsale, Scarlett Johannson
Killer Croc: Ron Pearlman

My only longshot, I think, is Hugh Laurie, who I chose as my top choice for the Riddler. Laurie stars in "House" on FOX. He's truly snide and could be extremely creepy if he was given the role. Plus, I doubt we'd see the likes of Croc or Freeze in this series, so I didn't put a lot of thought into them per say.

I'm tired of people nominating elderly actors for Mr. Freeze. Can't you guys think up some younger actors?

And I think that Jolie is too obviouse a choice for Catwoman. To me it'd be like Brad Pitt as Batman. I'd like Charlize Theron best, with Kate Beckinsale in second place (although she may be a better choice for Talia).

Billy Zane as Freeze?

He should have been Lex, but yeah, he could work as Freeze.

Another "younger" actor who could play Freeze...Jason Isaacs (the Patriot, Peter Pan)
