Days of Future Past Catch me if you can!! Evan Peters?Quicksilver Thread

What a waste of a great character.

Not only is his entire appearance laughably atrocious (IMHO, and for reasons already stated in this thread), but he's not even a major character (as confirmed by Singer himself), is not Magneto's son (If you're going to have him in an X-Men movie...why would you pass this up?), and Scarlet Witch is nowhere to be found (the pair are far more interesting together than apart).

If Fox or Singer really wanted to compete with the mutant twins we are getting in Age of Ultron, they could have done SO much more.

If anything, this just further validates my feeling that Quicksilver was shoehorned into this film at the last moment to try and best the Avengers sequel. But all this poor character portrayal is going to do is exemplify the far better portrayal of him in the Avengers sequel.

For shame Fox and Singer...you had an opportunity to really utilize and flesh out a deep character (two, really, because Wanda should be there as well) for your universe, but you opted to pick a mutant name out of a hat and write them into a scene or two to show off their cool powers...LIKE YOU DO EVERY MOVIE!

Whedon and Feige should be very happy with this portrayal.

Meh, I don't love it but it is the 70's. As long as he gets some cool power stunts and isn't just a glorified extra it isn't a huge deal. I expect the AoU version will be closer to what people would call classic Quicksilver.

Look everyone, it's one of those people who can't handle criticism of something they like so they adopt a smug and superior attitude and attempt to invalidate that person's opinion.

I'm all for people not liking the character based on the merits of his appearance. But if you go back and read what that poster said, it was a diatribe against everything but that.

So call me smug and superior, but that person came on here to share their vendetta and I'll happily dismiss it. I don't know whether I like the character. I like the actor and I'm into the retro-futuristic vibe of his appearance. But I'll make up my mind once I see him in action.

I will be utterly disappointed if Quicksilver in this Movie has no connection to Magneto whatsoever, and they only used him because they wanted a speedster Mutant.

Did Singer ever talk about Wanda, or is Quicksilver the only one he set his sights on? It might be telling if he didn't care about the Magneto Siblings and only wanted to use Quicksilver.

Good grief, some of you people are being so sensitive and childish. Some people will like it and some people won't - that's the way of the world.

If you like it, isn't that all that matters? No point in wasting your time trying to change other people's opinions.

Oh jesus:doh: Bryan Singer made mentionen back In 2011 of wanting to use quicksilver in films.Thinking they would change script ad quickly cast an actor because Joss Whedon announced twins In Avengers. And noone knows how large his role will be or If he will be Magneto's son.

It was reported that Quicksilver was included specifically because Singer created an action scene in which to utilize his power.

That's all.

Quicksilver being Magneto's son would be a MAJOR plot development in the film, which is obviously not the case here. Besides, if the film were going to explore Magneto's children, then why would Scarlet Witch be excluded?

And so what if Singer mentioned Quicksilver in 2011? It was only days after Marvel announced the twins in Age of Ultron that Singer's official Quicksilver announcement came about. That's one heck of a coincidence.

I mean, come on...can anyone really argue that this isn't a shell of the comic character?

It's like making a Cloak and Dagger movie with just Cloak...

What a waste of a great character.

Since we know very little of his character you are extremely premature

Singer wanted Quicksilver around FC time so you are wrong on the shoehorning bit and we don't know if he is his son or not.

Look everyone, it's one of those people who have completely made up their mind way before anything has been released or seen to warrant such conclusions and comparisons. Excuse us while we don't take you seriously.

:lmao:

You honestly think that they wrote the role, had actors audition for the role, chose the actor they liked, had their first choice agree, wrote up the contracts, had the actors people agree to all terms without negotiation, sign off on the contracts and announced it to the world all within a few days that Whedon said he might think of using Quicksilver in the future?

How cute.

With everything we've heard thus far with people that have read the script and other hints it definitely sounds like the familial relationship between Pietro and Erik is probably there...

We'll have to wait until May to find out.

I don't usually care about costumes and stuff, but that is truly atrocious.

The whole thing is just...

For truth:yay:

A lot of you want him to be Magneto's son in this. But why? I understand that's how it is in the comics, but how do we know that dynamic will actually add anything to the film? I guess what I'm saying is, why not just hope that the character is well utilized in the film? If we can accept that he'll have no relation to Magneto in the Avengers sequel, and many of you are completely sure that'll be the superior interpretation, then why can't we accept the same for X-Men?

Nightcrawler and Havok worked fine without having to acknowledge who they were related to.

And also, I dig his look. It's era appropriate.

Quicksilver looks like Andy Warhol.

I don't mind either way. But for some it's something from the comic that is a must.

Yeah, he does look like Warhol. Not sure about that look at all...

its likely quicksilver is magnetos son, mostly because quicksilver replaced juggernaut in the final script and they were planning on having juggernaut have a back story with charles, so they obviously wanted some family or background thing here

Also since there Is no real X-Men In 1973 there has to be a reason for Xavier to know
about quicksilver and to recruit him to help break Magneto out of prison.

That design is awful. I love Evan Peters, but he looks like Andy Warhol with Kelly Osbourne's hair color.

I kinda like it.... mostly just because so many of you hate it, but. :o
