Cate Blanchett is the Mysterious & Powerful Villainess HELA! - Part 1

I wonder how big a ball you'd need to play catch with Fenris... /random :woot:

Well, hey, she could conjure a giant ball out of nowhere. . . ;)

That's Proxima Midnight. One of Thanos "children".

Lol. For a second you had me there. Heh.

Nows just the waiting game... *sighs*

Starting to think no Hela in Avengers 3 or 4

Starting to think no Hela in Avengers 3 or 4

Why? Was anyone seriously expecting Hela to be in the trailer? I certainly wasn't. It would have been a lovely surprise if she was, but I was in no way expecting it. If Marvel wanted the audience to know about a possible connection between Thanos and Hela prior to IW, they would have introduced it in Ragnarok, they were never going to randomly drop a huge twist like that in a trailer. If she is in IW, they're clearly keeping it a secret.

I still think she will be in IW, but it will be a tiny role, nothing more than a glorified cameo probably at the very end of the film when they decide to finally throw Thanos' true motivation into the mix. Then they're all set to give her a larger role in A4.

There being absolutely no evidence of a 'Death' character featuring in the trailer (or in the MCU at large so far) convinces me even more that Hela is taking her place. If Mistress Death was a separate character, they would have introduced her (or at the very least teased her existence) already.

i don't know if you saw this but....

....the guy who wrote about the trailer on monday wasn't wrong at all except the last part and some parts in the middle. maybe marvel cutted it out or it will appear in one of the next trailers

I agree completely. Marvel realizes it'd be foolish to throw out a twist like that so early on so if Hela is involved I'd be surprised if we found out before the movie is actually released. I highly doubt she'll be excluded from IW, though. As you said, she'll likely have a cameo that sets up her having a larger role in the sequel and I'm perfectly fine with that.

I still think something like that is a strong possibility.

Even the after credits teaser is possible.

Loki having the Mephisto role in Avengers 4 is also still very much in the mix, from what I can see. It would be fitting, and would help the story come full circle from the first Avengers movie.

Whatever the case may be, I love Cate as Hela.
I really do hope that she has a place in Infinity War.

I love how this awesome fan art captures Hela's whole 'gives no ****s' attitude so well :woot::

Hela having a cameo in IW (which Cate wouldn't even need to be credited for, helping to keep it a secret) which then sets up her having a larger role in A4 would be my dream outcome. After all the build up, IW needs to 100% be Thanos' movie, he shouldn't have any other villain in any way stealing focus or threatening to overshadow him. A4 on the other hand is more of a wild card, we don't really know what's going to happen in that movie yet.

Loki having Mephisto's role and Hela having Death's role in the MCU honestly makes so much more sense, they need to use characters that the audience already know and have some sort of emotional connection to. Introducing brand new characters to fill these roles wouldn't have nearly as much weight for a majority of the audience.

Loki playing the role of a Thanos lackey in A4, while trying to help the heroes in subtle ways, is perfect for him. I feel quite confident that we will see something like that.

I would feel less confident making a wager about Hela as Death, but I do think it's possible. It really depends on how they want to handle Death as a character, and that whole aspect of Thanos' story.

There's not enough information to really be sure at this point.

As a huge fan of both Hela as a comics character and Cate Blanchett as an actress, I've been paying really close attention to everything said and reported about Hela/Cate's involvement in the MCU in the months leading up to Ragnarok and I've managed to gather quite a lot of evidence that supports Hela specifically playing a role in IW and/or A4. Stuff including quotes from Brolin (and actions taken by him on social media), Blanchett, Ruffalo, Feige, Brad Winderbaum (executive producer of Ragnarok), Zoe Bell (Cate's stunt double) and other things like the current ongoing storyline between Thanos and Hela in the comics and the fact that Cate has had ample time to film scenes in both movies as she has just spent months in Atlanta filming another movie. I do plan to compile it all and make a post in the IW forum at some stage, but it's taking a while. :cwink: None of it on it's own is conclusive, but when added together it certainly seems to paint a picture and it does feel like it's way too much to all just be entirely coincidental.

Sorry to double post, but this is very interesting. MCU artist Aleksi Briclot just yesterday posted this concept art of Hela after her battle with Surtur at the end of Ragnarok. Broken antlers, torn clothes, green magic, slightly charred and still on fire:

Surely this heavily suggests that Hela is indeed not dead, why would they be asked to do concept art of her in this state otherwise? Could this maybe be closer to how she'll look if we do see her again in IW?

I certainly hope you're right. It would be very cool.

I wonder if she will have transformed in some way? That also strikes me as possible.

Id love to read that one day :)

I do hope to see more of her. No doubt as that concept art shows...she's probably a bit messed up from that fight. But I think someone that powerful/stubborn isn't going away forever that easily.

Love how the only way they could stop her was by unleashing the apocalypse on her :). They let Thor get some good shots in, but didn't pretend that they had the means to actually stop her.

She wasn't a constant presence, but I think they did a nice job with her. You get her motivations and honestly why she was sealed away. And wow she got some awesome moments to shine.
