Thor Ragnarok Spoilers - Part 1

Do people wanna see Sif so much because of her comic character? She wasn't someone memorable from the previous films because the focused on Jane as the love interest.

I just wish Bill had a small cameo, at least some prisoners mentioning a Korbanite helping some escape.

I personally don't need her, Sif and the 3 were barely developed. Happy Hogan has had more development.

If she shows up cool, but I doubt she gets anything significant in the movie.

Oh and one thing, minor but man do I love the Marvel fanfare in the beginning. Just shows how much the MCU has grown and curious to how it'll look after we get introduced to new heroes.

I got a JL, Last Jedi and Black Panther trailer before the film. 3 movies I can't wait to see, feels so much different seeing a trailer on the big screen surrounded by strangers than on your phone or on your pc.

I remember seeing the Odin looking like a crazy homeless man photo. Maybe they went a different way and it didn't work. It was probably more connected to the Hela breaking the hammer in the NY alley.

Probably the original version on Earth was longer. I'm surprised they got Hopkins back to re-shoot a scene that was basically the same except a different setting.

Really hope to see the original version in the deleted scenes.

EPIC!

Beautiful.

One thing that Ragnarok did very well was epic comic book like shots, like both of these.

I'm a sucker for movies that are visually impressive & this is definitely one of them.

One of my favourite shots is Thor twirling Mjölnir to deflect Surtur's flames at the beginning!

Also a shot of Thor flying in Asgard from below before he sees Loki's statue.

I guess they like Alexander more than the original Fandral actor, heh.

Zachary Levi was actually the first one hired to play Fandral. He was their pick, but then got scheduling issues so they had to recast before they made the first Thor. Sheduling conflicts allowed Zachary to return in TDW and since they got him back, and he was their first choice, I think it makes sense that they continued with him.

It didn't really matter much who played him in Ragnarok though.

That's the thing, people found her to be potentially interesting, and certainly moreso than Jane. I mean it's not hard to see why (beautiful female warrior who's considered a badass even amongst that rather "macho" warrior culture of Asgard).

Even for people who didn't read the comics (at least from my experiences) it was a case of "she seems cool, why don't they use her more?"

And that was a common complaint amongst the last two films (she and the Warriors Three were underused). And unfortunately, they even more shabbily treated here. It's one of the most disappointing things about the movie imo.

I don't know, and honestly I don't care at this point. I put little stock in what Feige says when it comes to this matter. You had THREE movies to use them well and treat them with respect Feige, and you didn't do it.

Some quick token "oh isn't it sad that they're gone" scene isn't going to make up for that, not even close. In fact, it's just going to remind people of all the wasted potential.

I don't know many people who went to see the Thor films for the Warriors Three or Sif so (apologies if this sounds rude), I doubt it's going to be a big deal. I'm remembering Honest Trailers' Dark World entry where they made the joke about the Warriors Three being so inconsequential that nobody noticed they replaced one of the actors.

I do think they should have at least gotten some more scenes prior to Hela showing up, though.

The stuff on the Sanctum Sanctorum was pretty funny too... like all of it.
Thor being clumsy and knocking stuff down, Him being dizzy while teleported but still holding the beer, "I have been falling... for 30 minutes!". t:

The stuff when the Grandmaster is talking about his age and he just out of nowhere stops talking and checks Loki out, both Thor and Loki reaction was so weirded out and funny. The Grandmaster interaction with Topaz, the death stick joke, the "prisoners with jobs", "trash"...t:

So much funny stuff.

The Grandmaster was great.

Thor: "I am the God of Thunderrrrrrr!!"

Grandmaster: "I didn’t hear any thunder but out of your fingers … was that, like, sparkles?"

And then later when he's introducing Thor before his match with Hulk and giving his tale of the tape he ends the introduction with "And watch his fingers, they sparkle"

I personally never cared for the W3. Liked Sif a little more but I ain't crying for her absence.

Didn't care much for the W3, so perfectly fine with their quick demise. Showed Hela wasn't taking any prisoners (so to speak).
I liked Sif a bit more, especially when she gave Jane the stinkeye, but certainly wasn't bothered by her absence.

If she returns, maybe she'll comment on Thor's eyepatch, "it's a good look"

We need a 'favourite scenes' poll thread.
I won't start it, pretty sure I'll forget many, and intentionally leave out anything 'Korgish' haha
Someone like VisionVision who's watched it +10 times.
Or Hammerdown who's been all over this film like a rash

It's part of my larger issue of them not using the Asgardian setting to it's full potential. And yes, the underuse of those characters was one of the bigger complaints even from people who liked those films.

And no, there's NO excuse for how they were used here. It was just flat-out disrespectful. Honestly that alone bumps the movie down several points for me.

I wouldn't go quite that far but yeah. I can't honestly say their absence really hurt my enjoyment. I would imagine that's true for most people.
