Cate Blanchett is the Mysterious & Powerful Villainess HELA! - Part 1

I saw the film this morning :D I enjoyed it way more than Guardians Vol. 2. And I loved Cate as Hela. :hrt: i hope she'll come back for more:)

Finrir. Oh i hope we see him back too. I love him. He'd make an awesome mount! I'd ride him on his back!

Hey, no wonder Thor went into the pet store in Puente Antiguo and demanded of the dogs, cats, and birds "one large enough to ride!" Canids come big out there.

Guys, if Hela is your favourite MCU villain from 2017 and you haven't voted here just yet, go do it! Vulture has caught up with her!

I wish they had given her more screentime, but I really liked Hela's motivations. They actually made sense and were well-developed

How many times did her headdress change? I only noticed once and it was when she grabbed Thor.

I wonder if there be an extended cut but i doubt it.

That's pretty much guaranteed not to happen as they've never done anything like that. I think we can definitely expect some deleted scenes to be shown though.

Cate Blanchett actually said that her look through the film changes and evolves as she gets more and more powerful.

Yeah, I saw that too. She seemed to look more and more crazy as she progressed. It actually fit the character well.

We saw it change four times as far as I can remember, in her first scene with Thor and Loki, directly before she slaughters the entire army, we see the shadow of it kinda folding inwards and disappearing when she approaches Thor in the throne room (and she has her hair loose in the next shot) and then later in the same scene it re-appears again before she starts fighting him. It seems to appear when she's 'powering' up and preparing herself for battle.

I hope we get plenty of new Hela content in the home release, it would be cool if they decided to include the original New York scene amongst the deleted scenes.

Also, someone buy me this t-shirt in every colour:

I definitely want more of Blanchett as Hela. As much as I enjoyed seeing her destroy mofos and look HOT I felt she needed way more character development. I'd love it if they bring her back for IW or A4 and let that Death relationship play out with Thanos like in the comics.

Yeah, she has so much more potential.

I counted at least four times. All of them involving her about to fight.

Cool so I actually noticed 2 instead of 1. I will have to catch the other times on my next viewing.

She is a beautiful lady, no doubt, but I've never gone all crazy over her like some of you.
But in that "you're in my seat" scene..... Damn. She was flaming gorgeous there!!!!

She owned the screen, and her effects were amazing. She was Marvel Studios best villain to date, and one of the best CBM baddies ever.

I'm still surprised that she totally lived up to what we saw in the trailers. Didn't dip from that level at all.

Loved her performance, the idea of her in the film and of course the presentation of her power was dynamic as all get out... But I can't heap the praise on her that others do simply because the film introduces her in this audacious and fantastic way and then the movie does little with her after that and then it's onto the finale. She's good, really good, but the film under serves her story by quite a bit. She's a wonderfully scenery chewing villainess and the idea, the backstory we are told about is interesting but they don't really do anything with her. This fact shaves off a lot of points for me as great as the performance, costume and VFX were for her as a character.

I'm new on these boards but I registered because I needed a place to talk about Hela and how Cate Blanchett's portrayal was awesome. I mean with Cate you never get anything less than 100% with her performance but I was just a little bit disappointed that they didn't show her other powers like her hand of glory and her other mystical powers.

By the way I have a question, can she really die? I mean what is she called the Goddess of DEATH for if she just dies?

Her performance was awesome for sure. I'm always disappointed when we don't see the full range of a character's powers (definitely had that complaint about Thor before) and a couple of nice scenes of Cate in action were unfortunately cut. I agree, it would be a bit of a silly title if she could just die like anyone else. Would be like seeing the Grim Reaper in a hospital bed lol.

And welcome to the Hype!

Thanks for the welcome!

I wish the post credit scene showed her alive and defeated and kinda unconscious then she suddenly looks up and smiles giving a hint of being rescued but not showing the image of Thanos.

While I assume she's dead due to Asgard being destroyed, we never actually saw her killed so she could very easily be brought back.

She's the Goddess of Death; I don't think she should be vulnerable to her own power imo.

I like the part where she brings Fenrir back.

I am curious as to what was cut. Thst enormus wolf was so cool and scary but at the same time he needed a little more screen time. :p

I did enjoy her little fight with Hogun and the entire Asgardian military. Unlimited throwing swords and occasionally got her hands dirty. I liked when she actually grabbed that one dude by the neck and snapped it, and gave this little grimace like, ugh I actually have to touch it.
