Cavill and Snyder appearing at comic con!

Batman Begins was lukewarm at the box office ($207mil domestic, $167mil foreign), whereas MOS is dominating so should be fast-tacked.

When was the sequel to Batman Begins announced? Was it soon after the release or did they wait awhile?

Anywhere here (shh) back then? anybody remember any sequel doubts?

"On July 31, 2006, Warner Bros. officially announced initiation of production for the sequel to Batman Begins titled The Dark Knight;[64]"

One year...? :wow:

Fastracked?
if that means 2015, I have no problem with it.
2014 ,
i would have a problem with.

I think they should film MOS2 and MOS3 in 2014. And I think they should plan 5 MOS films, not just a trilogy. I'll change my username to MANOFSTEELfifogy, no problem.

It'll be 2016, they'd be crazy to put it close to so many other blockbusters.

2016 is still fairly open.

Well, Im pretty sure Snyder is willing to jump right back in, based on these comments:

(From Collider interview published 28 days ago)

SNYDER: Yeah but it’s a different time now, as far as the expectations for the superhero movies and what’s going on over at Marvel. I don’t know that the appetite – if you were to make another Superman movie, you need to get on with it. Chris was able to spread out over 10 years and that’s only three movies.

He started before the curve, before the superhero genre really exploded.

SNYDER: Yeah, now it’s like crazy. And I think that there’s an expectation that you – the way Marvel’s like, the fans are getting a movie every whatever–

Twice a year now.

SNYDER: Yeah, 6 months, they’re getting another one. So, if you’re waiting 5 years for another Superman movie, I don’t know if that works. You gotta get on it.

About a week after the movie opened:

I’m going to be a hundred percent honest with you, I haven’t yet gotten to speak to the studio about all these awesome details (because I’ve been overseas on the junket). So my hope is, when I get home I can sit down with everyone and it’ll be like ‘Okay, so what are we going to do?.. we need to do something…”’

Besides, WB doesn't have a tentpole for 2015. And even though 2 years is more than enough to get a sequel out, I also would like to see 2015 because the last thing they need is more time on their hands. Perhaps a bit of time pressure in post-production will work wonders for the editing next time around, eh? :oldrazz:

Although if Goyer is the sole writer for the sequel, I'm out. I'll see it but my expectations will be non existent because it's literally impossible for Goyer to deliver a great script with a clever plot, rich dialogue and good character development for several characters, which is what the sequel will need - especially with Luthor as a villain. So I'm hoping to see another name next to the screenplay duties when MOS2 is announced.

I want Goyer back on it myself, thought he did a fantastic job with MOS and I loved his work on the Batman films too.

I want Goyer back... But yeah, I do want someone else with him.

Keep Snyder, keep Goyer, keep Nolan.

I think they did a great job. It seems to me that Superman, for the past 20 years has an identity crisis. So many incarnations of Superman and a lot of fans hold on to their ideas and reject others. While many others just don't like Superman.

In looking at MOS a couple steps back, it is a rough draft. Or a test film of sorts. They always kept saying how difficult it was to make Superman cool, relevant and relatable.

Like Superman himself, the team is still going through a discovering stage. I think with the feedback thus film got, and Nolan giving Goyer a few more pointers, I can only see a better film for a lot more people in the sequel.

I'm very happy with what has started.

Maybe it's not a sequel announcement. Maybe Snyder is there to issue a public apology.

:)

I'm fine with Goyer coming back. There was a lot of story to tell in MoS and I think that he and Snyder did a great job of fitting so much in. In a sequel, that won't be a challenge. There will be no pressure to tell Jor-El's story, Clark's early years, Jonathan's death, etc. This time, they only need to focus on introducing a physical threat and Lex. The rest is wide open.

Yeah. I'm in the 'pair him up' camp. The writing is MOS is quite adequate, IMHO. But it generally isn't quotable, subtle, or realistic. The structuring is also flawed, though some of that is the manic editor. The director often has input on the editing, so I'm not letting Zack off the hook either.

The thing is they should release MOS months after Avengers2 and before the Star Wars reboot if they decide on '15.

Stuart Baird would probably be a good choice as a main editor. I thought Skyfall was very well paced, and Casino Royale did a good job at letting itself breathe.

I agree with 2015. I'm surprised some of the posters here prefer 2016. You should strike while the iron is hot, because Cavill is not a superstar yet, he needs to be still in people's minds when MOS2 is released. The sooner the better. The departure of Routh confused people enough.

Even if 2015 has a lot of competition, its not like every week from May-August is too hectic to release MOS2. Most of the competition will be afraid of MOS2 anyway, rather than the other way around.

Keep Nolan, Keep Goyer, Keep Snyder sedated. Got tired of the ADHD kid with a movie camera type of sequences real quick.

Also, 80% less focus on the American military for the sequel.

Goyer's the only one that needs a leash. All MOS' problems stem from the script. Everything Snyder visually translated from that looked phenomenal. It just wasn't written well, and didn't flow well in areas. I'm not saying Snyder didn't have a hand in the script. But Goyer has a track record against him. I really hope Chris Nolan stays onboard, and brings Jonathon in for the writing.

Also I'm more than happy for a 2016 release, if it's the difference between a rushed film, and a TDK tier film.

this.

Releasing a movie two years from now is not rushed. Spider-Man 2, one of the greatest comic book films ever, came out two years after Spider-Man.

Goyer should stay, but have someone else like Jonah Nolan or Bruce Timm help out with the script
