Chapter 2 - "Lizards" - Discussion Thread 10/1/07

Great Episode....Peter is badass. Not sure about the Twins, not saying I don't like the storyline just curious how it's going to be used. Can't wait till next week.

I'm kind of liking where the twins are going. It's an interesting concept that since they are twins they both got a part of the genetic mutation, she has the virus and he has the cure. I'm excited to see how they'll fit with the rest of the story.

good ep, but i NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO DL!!!! hes my fav heroe and i need to know if he lives or dies!!

I think Peter's at the point where he just needs to feel the emotion that's linked to the power in order to trigger it. He may no longer need to think of the person to remember the emotion.

Good episode.

wonder twins are cool
hiro rules all
peter is about to get some irish booty.Did peter use nikki's superstrength to break the ropes?
claire...you are an idiot really

Couldn't peter just beat the hell outta that irish dude..and just take the box?

Peter used D.L's fazing ability to get out of the ropes

wasnt D.L like far away from peter during that last fight with sylar..

oh and Mr. Muggles gets a chew toy.ewwwwww

wes(west)..you are a creepy bastard..stop trying to get peeks at claire

This is just something i thought of but i think that Takenzo Kensai is the "father" of all "special" people. You know like he had kids then they had kids so on and so fourth all the way until we get to present people. So basically i think he is the first "special" person. Its just a thought.

Oh and Claire finally did something normal, she forgot to lock her door just like all normal high school kids do at some point in time.

Someone needs to tell the writers that peeping tom-ism isn't romantic or endearing, just creepy. I hope that it's revealed that Wes knew Claire had powers before he saw her cut off her toe and that's why he was spying on her. Otherwise, Wes should be arrested for flying around and peeping in girl's windows.

I also liked the vague Curt Connors references during Claire's bio class. I don't know if it was intentional on the part of the writers, but the whole conversation Claire had with her lab-coated teacher about newts and lizards regenerating lost limbs put a big smile on my face.

Can we all just assume Wes being creepy and spying on her via flying is just a creepy homage to Superman Returns?

Also, anyone else find the Irish accents annoying?

How was it annoying? The scenes are taking place in Cork, Ireland...how the hell else should they be speaking???

-edit-

...not meant to start a fight or sound like an ass...just sarcastic =^)

To me it just made it authentic...

I'm not saying that I'm not a big Jessica fan. I just think that her story has never been as integral to the show's storylines as much as the Petrellis and Hiro's adventures. I suppose the writers know this and they also understand that her character's adventures have the least amount of support from the fans (and not in a negative way, I mean). Just not as popular as the others.

I prefer the nikki/jessica storyline to hiro or claire! Not to say those two don't have their great moments 'you talk like a fish' being as funny as hell! but ali larter really went at it acting wise and it was a joy to watch. Only the petrelli's can keep me interested all the time though

But then there's no reasons he should be dead right now.
he was shot in the head. the brain is the difference. the stick embedded in claire's head prevented her from healing (killed her, in essence), just as the glass shard through peter's prevented him from healing as well.

Ah, never did catch his name. :) Thanks.
it isn't his name. it was a codename during a mission in vietnam. all of the troops on that mission were known by codenames to each other based on their hometown. linderman's was austin, if i remember correctly. it's in the webcomic.

um those Irish accents are some of the worst I've heard on TV in years... they were so so so so NOT Cork... terrible accents man.

the spanish speaking has been very crappy too, but I try not to let that affect the story I'm watching, which pretty much makes up for the crappy accents

Has anyone thought that perhaps Peter and Nathan's Dad is Kensei. If he is immortal he could have lived to have fun with Mama Petrelli, and be the baddy here.

I read those but it was a long time ago. I am looking forward to the hardcover of the webcomics when it comes out in a couple of weeks. :) I find the webcomics a bit hard to read a times.

Lizards
Eddie Brock Jr.'s Review

And I'm back for the second episode of this glorious 2nd Season! Let's just get going!

Peter: The storyline I know that I, and possibly many others, have been chomping at the bit for! After a cliffhanger like last week's, we've earned some answers! And...well...we didn't really get any. But we got to see Peter kick ass, so that's always nice. Still, it was a fun episode for Peter. He's discovering all his abilities again, and I bet he's freaking out. He experienced some compassion from Katherine, the mobster's sister. (Potential love interest, anyone?) And it turns out that Mr. Irish Mobster holds all the secrets to Peter's identity in...*cue dramatic music*...THE BOX! So obviously, this guy wants Peter to use his abilities for the mob...in return for THE BOX!

Claire: Wondering about the show title? I think we all were. Well, the answer lies in Claire's storyline. Claire learns about lizards in school, and how they can regenerate limbs. Claire wants to see if the same holds true for her...and if so, how she can use her abilities to help people by becoming the endless organ donor. Papa Butler isn't too happy about that. Anyway, West suggests that Claire reads this book - Activating Evolution by Chandra Suresh. So why do I get this feeling like we've seen this before?:cwink: Then Claire ends the episode with a painful-to-watch scene where she cuts off her pinky toe...in the name of science, of course. Stalker Boy...I mean, West...is hanging outside her window. Claire goes outside, but he's nowhere to be seen. Instead, there's a copy of Suresh's book in the driveway, and Mr. Muggles is barking at the sky.

Noah: Noah tells his wife about a set of 8 Isaac Mendez paintings that he's never seen. He possesses one...it's a picture of Kaito Nakamura's death. Noah is determined to find the other 7. Along the way, he and Mohinder continue to plot and we're reunited with an old friend - THE HAITIAN!

Parkman: Matt's on the job...investigating Kaito's death. He interviews Ando, and he brings Angela Petrelli in. At first, Matt believes that Angela may have killed Kaito over money or sex. But with a little telepathic prodding, Matt learns of some sort of revenge-seeker. Angela isn't too happy when Matt enters her mind unannounced, and she makes it clear when he attempts it again. Parkman leaves her alone for a minute, the lights go out, and she's attacked by an unseen assailant. As Matt and Nathan ask her what happened, she merely hands them the picture of herself with the Godsend symbol written on it.

Hiro: Surprise, surprise...but Hiro puts on Kensei's armor and saves the swordsmith's daughter. Shocking, huh? Hiro finally manages to convince Kensei to become a hero, but oops...he gets shot by arrows. Just when it looks like all hope is lost for our little Japanese office worker, Kensei pulls a Claire! So that's two Heroes with repeat powers...intentional? We'll have to keep watching to find out.

Maya/Alejandro: The Wonder Twins are back! I'm still not that involved in their story, but it's getting better. They come across a healer who flips her lid when she tries to heal Maya. She says that there's something black enough in her soul to kill the Devil. As they are trying to get across into Mexico with a friend, Maya and Alejandro are...once again...separated. Maya accidentally (almost) kills their friend. Luckily, Alejandro arrives just in time to reverse the process. But let me say that the bleeding eye thing creeps me out to no end...

Mohinder/The Haitian: Mohinder gets his first assignment...in Haiti. I was too wrapped up in the story to notice that, so I was actually shocked (and pleased) by the reveal! There he finds a dying Haitian. He's caught the Legacy Virus (as I affectionately call it. For those of you not "in the know," I'll do a very brief sidebar. The Legacy Virus is from Marvel Comics. It's a virus that only attacks/kills mutants. Catch the similarity?). Mohinder seemingly fails to heal him, when he wakes up to Midas (as I affectionately call him) asking about the mission. Looks like the Haitian did a memory wipe. Anyway, the Haitian arrives at Copy Kingdom to meet up with an old friend. And I, for one, could not be happier.

Still no Sylar (:csad:) or Niki/Micah/DL (:woot:)...but the previews indicate that we'll catch up with them next week. As I said last night, this isn't exactly a memorable episode, but it was very nice.

8/10
