Chapter 20 - "Five Years Gone" - Discussion Thread 4/30/07

I KNEW Nathan wasn't evil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

I am curious how they are gonna get past this "Peter is the Bomb" pickle...

And please, for the love of all that is good, someone find a way to kill Sylar...that future was awesome, but so depressing...look at all the pain they are ALL going through...that and my boy Nate is dead...not cool...also, what happened to HRG's glasses?? I'd be curious to see...

Gotta admit though Nathan/Sylar flying toward the end was f'n awesome

Wish the real Nathan would embrace his powers more. :o

I have to say this is easily the best episode thus far. Seeing most of the principal characters with their powers/story lines fully developed was awesome. Peter and Sylar rock!

I think he'll grasp them more as he comes to a decision about what to do with the bomb...I think he'll prove much more heroic than he's been...

Nothing is explained. Ok so peter blows up. but, wait they saved claire. Ok so what do they have to do now? Stop peter from blowing up? Yeah it didn't make sense that sylar had claires power... its all messed up the way it is written it sounds inevitable that the future has to happen. Except for the fact that future hiro doesn't remember going to the future. Damn its really weird i don't know where they're going with this one.

I ****ing knew that little girl was important somehow, I kept asking why Sylar was so intent on getting her. I knew we'd see her again before the end of the show. Damn it, I want my cookie.

But yah, great episode. Too bad we couldn't see more of the fight, but oh well. Maybe they're saving up the budget where they can for something bigger in the end.

So since they named it the Linderman act, I guess he moved from the guy in the shadows to a major figure in the new world. I wonder what he has planed for himself after the bomb.

Great ****in' episode!!!

I'm glad Nathan wasn't really Nathan. Which is kind of sad once you realize what that meant for the real Nathan :( I'm also glad the mind reading cop turns out to be a prick in the future. Seeing how I don't care for his present self and could care less if he died. :o

Can't wait to see ratings for this episode. **** must've been off the charts.

He probably does now. Just because he didn't say it doesn't mean he didn't remember it. It's probably why he believed for a fact that Claire is alive.

The bomb is not going off. The show is not going to be all of a sudden seasons and seasons of f**ked up future stories. I'm sure that Sylar will be stopped this season and next season there will be a new villain. That simple. Even Prison Break and 24 changes antagonists. I doubt Heroes is going to stick with Sylar all through a second season. Chances are that Peter has his abilities as well and will use that against him. Peter is just more powerful. He doesn't need to kill you and steal your powers. He just has it by being around you. Take all that Peter has learned and add Sylar's to it and the guy is just boned. Maybe Peter will even do the whole open brain surgery thing. That would be a fitting end.

A pretty neat twist would be for Peter to battle becoming a villain or not next season. The guy does have a lot of power. What if my scenario is the one that plays out and Sylar like...becomes a part of him or something. Stuck in his head and trying to gain control of his body. Maybe even having moments where he does take control and does some f**ked up stuff.

I wonder what happened to future Lindermann.

He may have died...in fact I'm pretty sure he did. Hence the Lindermann Act...likely named in his honor...kinda like Jessica's Law or the Brady Bill

LOL in a room with about 12 ppl me and a friend look at each other out nowhere and thought What if Nathan is really Sylar, I'm like he could do it Since we havn't seen The shapeshifting chick and we know Sylar get's to Claire. Everyone looked at us like we where crazy. The next second Nathat makes the whole speech about taking powers and BAM. LOL we so called it.

That was a sweet twist. Too bad it's not fully canon *comedy drums*. :p

This show is deffinetley the best thing on TV IMO... after Avatar. :D

Edit- Best Line Ever: THE HAITIAN IS DOWN I REPEAT THE HATIAN IS DOWN!!

I've never laughed so hard.

LOL! Yeah, that did sound pretty messed up. :D

And yeah, this and Supernatural are definately my favorite shows on tv right now. For once something I like isn't cancelled. 2 shows just makes me lucky.

*isn't sure she wants to know what Plan B is going to be* :(

plan b is "order 66" from emperor petrelli heh

i'm thinking that once future sylar killed peter, cause we all know peter is still no match for him that sylar walks over to future hiro's body and takes the time travel power

WOw! this episode is awesome so far! So very "X-Men", I love it!! :D

agree I thought of nathan as tony stark with the civil war and a mutant registration act minus senator kelly.

How is future Peter no match for Sylar? Whatever power Sylar uses, Peter will gain, as it appears he demonstrates a more adept handle on the powers he has. Neither can die, but don't forget he's still one up on Sylar with the whole "folding space-time continuum" thing.

If I were Peter, I'd freeze time and teleport Sylar into the sun.

Great episode! But I’m confused about one thing. How would killing Sylar lead to Peter not exploding? Peter exploding leads to a dark future right? And if Sylar is right about Nathan turning against people with special abilities then wouldn’t this mean that the future would remain the same?

My guess is that, in the context of this episode, Sylar killed Ted Sprague and got into a fight with Peter in New York. Peter absorbed Sylar's (really Ted's) ability to generate radiation and accidentally detonated.

If Sylar is killed, he won't kill Ted and thus won't pass Ted's power onto Peter. Therefore, Peter won't explode.

GOD, I can't wait for the season finale.

Nice episode...lots of action, and a very dark and grim future. Sylar might have gotten to Nathan, but the fact still remains that Sylar didn't cause the explosion, it was Linderman and Nathan. They are still cold bastards to me...

I really enjoyed Sylar being Nathan, and seeing how everybody's lives were different. But other than that it wasn't great. I got tired of Peter trying to out-cool everybody.

Why does Peter have a scar when he as Claire's regeneration ability?

(I still laugh at the fact Future Hiro told Past Peter that while he was panicking on the time frozen train. Terrible writing.)

With the Hatian down, you would have thought Future Hiro would have been a lot more trouble. He just went through an entire building of heavily armed guards with just a sword, he gets up stairs with his power fully restored and is taken out with a handgun.

James Brady isn't dead. He's disabled, but not dead.

I'm guess the words "bitter" and "lost fan" would be a far better description

OK i know im a little late but this episode is definitely my favorite thus far. Future Peter and Future Hiro teaming up was insane! Easily the best piece of dialogue in the series thus far:

FUTURE HIRO:
Think you can freeze time?

FUTURE PETER:
Nah, I haven't had a good battle in years.

so sick:woot:

Watching that episode just made me really hate Sylar even more. I can't believe he killed Claire! My Claire Bear's dead, and now Sylar has her power.

The future looked pretty dark and apocalyptic. I wonder what happened to Linderman, Mama Petrelli, and Claude in the future?
