Chapter 23 - "How To Stop An Exploding Man" - Discussion Thread 5/21/07

Yeah, it wasn't that hard to figure out was it? I think it would have been more interesting if Nathan didn't really have a change of heart but just didn't want his brother to die. You know instead of him wanting save half of New York.

That wouldn't have made sense. He knew Peter wouldn't die from it.

peopel would be *****ing way less about the 'not flying away' issue had there been a great epic fight scene between peter and sylar... that void got people complaining and then they just continued on to nitpick about the 'flying' thing when we all know they can explain that away next season with 2 lines of dialog.

this is true

There were ways to end Nathan's arc without being quite so contrived as the episode was. I appreciate shooting Peter with a tranquilisor might not have quite the same effect as a double sacrifice in the sky, but it was a much more common sense approach to take, particularly since they knew for a fact it worked, having done it already to Ted.

I'm all for the completion of storylines so long as they come about in a fashion which makes sense within the universe.

I'm just saying your scenario didn't offer one therefore IMO no it wouldn't have been a better ending to the season.

In the end the storyline made sense to me and things tied up just fine. I believe people may have expected to much from a TV series. That's just my opinion so let's just agree to disagree.

He probably will. He can survive the explosion. It would be silly if Nathan survived.

I really liked the future Peter Petrelli, he was fun ;)

ah crap... misread it think he was talking about Nathan. my bad.

Does anyone think it is possible for Hiro to teleport a heartbeat before Peter explodes and grab Nathan, saving him?

Too bad Peter did not realize he had Hiro's power, from the subway. He could have teleported to a safe place/time to blow up, before he went out of control.

Yeah, or maybe Hiro can teleport a milisecond before Sylar was conceived and kill his parents.

no one, including Peter, knew who was going to be the exploding man until the last second.

It would be because he has no way to survive the blast unless he has super strength and can throw peter so he can escape.

At the speed they show Nathan flying away, it could be highly logical that he did drop Peter in mid flight, still high enough to to harm anyone and fly far enough away to not harm himself.

It really depends on how Peter's powers work. By judging what they have done is that Peter cannot use multiple powers at once. Claire's powers maybe an exception because he came back alive.

Him having ted's powers, goes back to the Bennett home and that we never saw him successfully explode, Claire stopping him. He may just emit radiation until it goes boom or the power may let him reform.

Here's to hoping (yeah, I did read the spoilers, but don't want to carry them over to this thread).

Do agree and as to how Peter may survive that is beyond me.

Claire's power would protect him from the fall, and the explosion wouldn't hurt him in the first place.

I didn't see any burns on Ted's or Sylar's hands from those little explosions they liked to make. Neither of them seemed to have cancer either.

Well, the explosion was internal going out. Then again he was taking an ability from someone that it wouldn't destroy, so...yeah, I see now. This is what I get for missing a few episodes.

When Hiro returns from the past, I imagine he would want to return to the point he left. Assuming that he does, he could return to the point where Nathan and Peter take off. Therefore knowing that Peter is the bomb. My question covers the limits of Hiro's powers. For someone who controls space and time, milliseconds are meaningless. Remember he did slow down those bullets before in Vegas. Does he (or will he) have the control over his powers to be able to appear in mid-air at time and space necessary to grab Nathan? Hiro seemed fond of Nathan, which is why he was so broken over the "villian" thing. If he saw Nathan sacrifice himself, Hiro would want to do what he could to save Nathan, IMHO.

Hiro's probably going to return at a later point, so it won't effect the characters arc fully. I'm trying my best to keep my lips sealed about certain spoilers.

In the latest interview at CBR,it's confirmed that Nathan and Peter's story will continue next season.
