[blackout]For me it worked because it had the right context, the one of a terrorist and how the USA and the world likes to demonize certain individuals instead of entire mentalities. The execution was shoddy, yes, but the twist itself worked, imo.[/blackout]

I'd be disappointed if they did this. It's one thing when it happened in IM3, but would you really switch an actor of Cooper's caliber and status from playing Norman/GG to the Chameleon and have Massee be the real Osborn?

To add to that, they have actors like Giamatti and Foxx playing Rhino and Electro. Casting someone like Massee to be Spider-man's arch-nemesis seems like a step down.

Massee would be perfect for the role imo, it doesn't matter if he's not an A-list actor status-wise. He is still a pretty darn good actor

I can totally see him as a scary and awesome Green Goblin, but I have a hard time picturing him as the "stable" (in appearance) businessman Norman Osborn.

Ok, so this is what I'm getting from the past dozen or so posts...

- One suggestion is that the Cameleon came into the Parker's house disguised as Dad and distracted Peter with a game of tag. Possible yes, but would they really use that scene in a future movie? Not so sure. Simply Osborn had someone break in and try to find the file. I would imagine that Peter was not allowed in that office so he wouldn't have been an issue (remember, window was open). Plus they didn't show us Peter being "tricked" to go play tag, so it's likely not something they'll reference in a future movie...

- I've got some to agree that the man in the shadows is an important character. It was also obvious that Connors knew him (almost as though he worked for him...). Would the Cameleon be considered important at the end of ASM1? Would Connors know who the Cameleon was? If Massee was the Cameleon I think he would have had to be pretending to be someone else, meaning he's really the other character. So if it was the Cameleon in the shadows then he was pretending to be someone else, like Osborn (or it was all in Connors' head).

- The voice. Go listen to Massee again. He wasn't doing a Cameleon voice. He was doing a Norman Osborn-ish voice IMO. A voice that could be turned into the voice of the Green Goblin.

- Is there confirmation at this point that Cooper is Osborn?

- Some have said maybe Massee is a minor role that can pop up here and there, but isn't actually cast? That makes no sense. Why cast Massee in ASM1 but have him as the same character, but not listed as cast in ASM2? Makes more sense that they got rid of him.

This idea of Cooper is the Cameleon, but he's Osborn, but Massee is really Osborn, doesn't make any sense. Osborn is Osborn and everyone knows what he looks like. Maybe the Cameleon would pose as him while he is incapacitated, but he would look like Osborn. Meaning either Massee was in the shadows as Osborn (Connors knew him) and something has sence changed so Osborn will now be Cooper (and Massee is gone) or Cooper is not Osborn and Massee is.

The main point is that the man in shadows was very important and not just some luetenant for Osborn. It makes much more sense that Connors would be yelling at Osborn to stay away from Peter, not at some underling. I really can't see who else the man in shadows was...

Some have said Electro - well that's not right...

Some have said Mysterio - realy, Mysterio?...

Some have said the Cameleon pretending to be Osborn, which means that Massee is Osborn (since the Cameleon would have looked like the actor that would be Osborn).

And some, like me, think Massee was cast as Osborn and maybe they have since recast him to be Cooper.

Um, how come no one has reached out to Massee or his people to ask about this?

The Chameleon is not just some lieutenant for Osborn, nor some underling. These concepts don't help to illustrate his importance. It's not that simple. Another way of thinking of it would be something like Lex Luthor went and hired the Joker to kill Superman. The Joker wouldn't be considered lex's underling in this situation.

So it would be safe to assume no one, except a select few (including Harry, but who knows) knows what he looks like. So if someone else were to pose as him, no one, at least most, be the wiser.

If Webb still says "there may be more forces at work" from ASM Man in Shadows commentary part then I hope he sticks to his word & delivers a reasonable role for this much talked about character.

Mysterio or The Chameleon may suit Massee's acting ability.

yeah but harry should know what he looks like, so unless we have no 1 on 1 interaction between harry and Norman then its harder to say someone else is pretending to be norman because no one knows what he looks like

they would have to give us wooden interaction or no interaction between harry and norman, otherwise it wouldn't work
