I wonder how much of the horror this film will show. I mean it got pretty bad, even by war crimes standards.

I think the trailer is one meant to get American audiences to watch it; in the actual film, Bale's plotline will likely be between two or three equally important stories.

For example, the Chinese trailer of the movie will probably mainly feature the protaganist Chinese soldier who we see only vague glimpses of in this trailer. Such is the way of international film distribution.
