Everyone is worried about the realism angle so there has been a big enough ****storm for DC/WB to notice. Even if Nolan is going to force them towards a realism angle, i think all this will make them think twice. Besides, Marvel is showing the way with movies like Ironman, Thor and Cap who are true to their source material if that says something.
But i do think that Crook is right. At least i hope so.

Let's stop fighting before this turns into a flame war. I'll briefly reiterate what I said previously. His realistic vision for Batman simply fits by virtue of the character. Could it get more fantasy-oriented? Absolutely. But not one fan can deny there's certainly a huge sub-section of the mythos that is purely on the gritty and realism oriented level. Nolan simply went in that particular direction.
Nolan was highly influenced by the sci-fi genre as a kid, and that's what turned him to Hollywood. Inception is a glimpse into what he can do with full reigns on a project not bound by realism. If the man is overseeing Superman, I'm fully assured he knows the type of baggage that character is bringing. I'm sure the average joe knows the fundamental differences between Bats and Supes.
Now...moving onto Batman 3. Finally, is all I can say. I think it's interesting that this time around, Nolan has crafted the story and outline himself. Previously it was David and Jonah. Makes me wonder what villain(s) we should expect since this is from his mind. I'd imagine it would be a lot different if David/Jonah were the ones that spearheaded the story.
