The Dark Knight Rises Christopher Nolan Is Doing Batman 3!!!

Plot hole. :D

I know there are a few fantastic elements in some of his movies. But I don't think he has the respect for comic book heroes as much as we do. He thinks he's an artist and the only way to bring these lowly comic book heroes up to his level is to make them "real".

These are all just speculations of course. I just don't think he's a good fit. Hell, he didn't want anything to do with the DC Universe outside of Batman because Superman was to fantastic.

I think my concerns are legitimate.

:thing: :doom: :thing:

Yesterday I posted up part of an article on Nolan's comicbook tastes and habits on the 'Dark Knight sequel hunters.' thread, he said 2000AD is the only regular comic he ever got into , and said that comicbooks were doing far more interesting things with sci-fi than the movies were.

I think he just likes the more realistic 'gritty' Batman tales, a lot of fans do.

Good news all round on the DC films front.

He's not directing Superman. He'll be an advisor (and I imagine, eventually, a producer) for the project. He'll just be helping the project find its feet.

I don't know which has me happier, his helping hand for a new Superman, or finally an official article proving he's doing Batman 3.

I was scared when I first saw the headlines. My immediate reaction was "Oh s***, he's dropping Bats to do Supes".

I dont know if I can believe it or not.

Nikki Finke is right on the money when it comes to stuff like this. Plus, ex-Variety editor Mike Fleming co-wrote the article so it's pretty legit.

The only Batman stories that really appeal to my interests are the ones that make me think they could really happen in our world, so I couldn't be happier with Nolan's approach, frankly. My interest in Batman is that he's a human being and doesn't have any superpowers. He's more of a theatrical vigilante and detective than a technical superhero - which are more cartoony and scifi (and typically gaudy, with a few exceptions).

It's a bad*** idea to go with for a comic book character. It's Batman's ace. He has fantastic stories without warping to Dimension 9 to battle the laser-tentacled aliens of the yellow planet Tabitha. :hehe: Why do people have a problem with Batman being believable?

Because his history is full of fantasy?

:thing: :doom: :thing:

Actually, the original 1930s Batman was incredibly grounded in reality.

As was Year One.

Two aspects of his history grounded in deep reality.

Which is what Nolan went with. As well as Long Halloween.

Since when is Ra's Al Ghul Year One?

And doesn't he come back to life? Isn't he like 900 years old or something?

Who says he doesn't come back to life or isn't 900 years old?

"But is Ra's Al Ghul immortal? Or are his methods supernatural?"

It's left up to the watcher to decide. Which is fine. We didn't need to get beaten over the head with lazarus pits and such to think that he was immortal(which I do).

Not to be a downer but from what I read in that article they never used an exact quote from Nolan.

Odds are likely that he will return for a third Batman film but I want to hear it directly from his mouth.

So let me get this right...

You're saying that resurrection IS believable?

:doom: :doom: :doom:

Uh. No.

That's what everybody's saying. Nolan's movies are grounded in realism, but they're not realistic.

A guy running around dressed as a bat isn't realistic. Neither are Scarecrow, Joker or Two-Face.

I wish people would ****ing understand this.

CHRISTMAS COME EARLY!!!! hELlz yEa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Give it up Franklin. You have to realise the the majority like Nolans Batman movies, and they like them BECAUSE they dont have aliens, mutants, and monsters.

Your problem is that you put comicbook movies into a category. You are saying every comicbook movies should be made in the same way, and every comicbook movie should be different from real movies.

And even when several movies Nolan has made has alot of fantasy/sci-fi elements, you refuse to believe that Nolan can put that in a Superman movie because "oh they are not based on comicbooks so they dont count". :whatever: Did you also believe when Cameron made Titanic that he was gonna put in aliens and killer-robots in it?

Nolan isnt even the bloody director!

Bad news for Superman fans. Just what the character needs. More realism.

:whatever:

:doom:

Nolan won't make Superman realistic he's not even directing it they just said he'll be helping which will probably mean producer or something.

If this is indeed legitimate, which I think it is, great day for Batman and Superman fans.

Some other sites are now running the story also....

I'm a bit mixed about the news, mainly cos of the continuation of Superman returns but also I think its a bit far fetched, some of the phrases they use make it seem too unbelievable.

He changed Batman. Why wouldn't he change Superman?

How'd he change Batman? :S

It's pretty easy. Just watch Batman Begins.

Of course he did his homework. He's getting paid millions of dollars.

Lemme ask you somethin'. When will we see Robin?

Nolan said Robin isn't involved in these films, its a younger Batman robins still in the crib.

So let me get this right...

You're saying that resurrection IS believable?

No but if you treat it in a fashion that makes it believeable, then its believeable. That's what directors do, they make things believeable on the screen if you didn't believe in what happens in a film is real then it'll be ****e to watch.

The cynical person in me thinks that WB wants his help on Superman because they want to keep his Batman universe as a foundation for a Justice League movie. If Nolan can come up with some kind of explanation for Superman's existence in his Batman world, WB would love to get that cash cow flowing.

I really want to jump and down, but I'm prepared for disappointment.

Nikki usually has the goods and she isn't one to speculate on something as big as the Batman franchise. We should be getting official news sometime in the next few months. Once Jonah and Goyer get the first draft of the script into Chris' hands and he has a chance to give the thumbs up or down, we should be getting news shortly thereafter. The Dark Knight was announced in summer 2006 for a summer 2008 release. If Jonah and Goyer come up with the goods and Chris wants to go through with it, then we can expect an announcement in the summer at the latest.
