The Dark Knight Rises Christopher Nolan Is Doing Batman 3!!!

The point is TDK did not have a cliffhanger that pointed to a specific villain. If anything, the villain that TDK points to is GCPD since Batman will now be hunted by them.

It...doesn't matter?

Did there HAVE to be a villain cliffhanger in TDK for Nolan to use one villain or another?

No? Okay then.

You claimed that everyone knew the Joker would be in TDK and then somehow tried to compare that with people's speculation about the Riddler being in the next movie, as if the blatant freaking cliffhanger in Batman Begins had nothing to do with people knowing the Joker was going to be in TDK. Your comparison between the two was ludicrous.

Uh...no. I said everyone expected Nolan to use Joker in TDK. Regardless of cliffhanger or not.

There's a difference between knowing and expecting. Because we didn't know, couldn't know, and he could have very well not used Joker.

My original point was, just because we expect something, doesn't mean it CAN'T happen. Which is what the original guy said. That we all expect Nolan to use Riddler, so he won't. I said that that's false.

Obviously, no one knows. But I still think the comparison to Begins/TDK is ridiculous. The Internet would have imploded if Nolan played the Joker card tease in Begins and then didn't bother using him in the next movie. :hehe: Besides, this time around we literally have no clue. The speculation on the Riddler is just speculation. Some of it may prove to be lucky guesses, but otherwise it's a crapshoot right now since Nolan and WB are pretty successful at keeping things under lock and key (Inception). If I had to choose one line of speculation that might prove to be a lucky guess regarding the Riddler, it would be the idea of him helping the GCPD as some kind of investigator or agent.

Agreed. Although I would lose a tiny bit of faith in him if during his help with the Superman film he decides or agrees with having Lex Luthor return.

I haven't read through the last few pages but after that report were they assumed Nolan is in fact coming back, has there been anything new released like a direct quote and confirmation from Nolan himself?

I don't care how trusted the source who broke the news is, until I hear it straight from the horses mouth I'm not yet going to get excited.

I don't think it would be a bad thing if Lex was in the next film......just as long as he is a secondary baddie and not the MAIN baddie or threat to Superman. Brainiac should be the main threat with Lex and LexCorp scheming behind the scenes as more of a supporting baddie.

I hope so. It's ideal.

redfirebird,

I'm willing to be money we'll get Wayne Manor and the Batcave back in this sequel.

Plus, I think we call all assume that the theme of this particular sequel, in the context of Begins and Knight, will be redemption. Considering the ending we got in Knight, the redemption theme just feels like the natural extension to the story of Bruce Wayne. From Beginning, to Escalation, to Redemption. That just sounds like it goes together perfectly.

Anything after that is anyone's guess...although, I really think he's going to call this particular film The Batman. To me, that just seems to fit.

yesssss! I think I'll go make love to my wi....um, oh....to my gir....uh...hmmm.....well, I'm just happy that's all!

as long as no real statement is out, i will not believe it. looks like every site runs the same story, just in other package..

well crap- if Chris Nolan is saying that... i guess there isnt any reason to be excited... :woot:

On another note, at the end of TDK, Batman was on the run, accused of killing multiple folks in order to keep Harvey Dent's name clean. It will be fun to watch Batman being the hunted in this next film. All while he is trying to hunt criminals as well.

There just seems to be something ironic about this statement, given the Riddlers compulsion to leave clues. Not reading anything into it, it just stood out to me.

No clues? Who is Batman's most unknown foe? Maybe the fact that there was no lead in for a villian says something about the direction this will go.

Most likely though, there was no lead in because there was no concrete plan, and no one wanted to be locked into something. Keep the freedom to do whatever brainstorming could come up with.

Ultimately Batman will have to quit protecting Dent - He will come to the realization that Gotham must stand up for itself, and cannot hide behind a crusader forever, whether that crusader is a White Knight like Dent or a Dark Knight like Batman. They are only mortals, and will be gone someday, so unless Gotham can stand on it's own or he can raise another crusader (like he was raised - compelled to keep his father's dream alive) Ra's will win eventually.

random thought:

with Chris Nolan overseeing and helping out with a new Superman flick, i think there might be a chance that after Batman 3 and new Superman we can get a Batman/Superman film :word:

that would be awesome and hopefully not just wishful thinking

I don't think Nolan has left space for Supes' supernaturalism in his realistic Bat-world. He has also said (somebody posted it on another forum) in an interview that the way he's treating Batman there's no room for another superheo in his Bat-verse.

It's a wonderful idea, a wishiful thinking but I don't see it happening, sadly.

Wishful thinking. I cannot see Nolan doing a 180 and taking the character to a more fantastical level than it already is after he spent the last two films trying to ram into us the plausibility concept for this particular Batman.

The theme could be obsession. From beginning, to escalation, to obsession.

Going from The Dark Knight to The Batman feels a little bit anti-climatic IMO.

Looking forward to Batman 3.:woot:

What I don't buy from the report is that filming will begin later this year. I suspect it'll start in by the Spring of 2011.

Showtime or Jamie, care to clarify/debunk Jett's statement?

I think the title will end up being

Legend of the Dark Knight

Batman Redemption

Gotham City

Gotham

Shadow of the Bat

None of those titles have a ring to them. Nolan will come up with something better.

In a new york times article from today about the restruction of WB its outright mentioned that nolan is doing another batman.

Legend of the Dark Knight

Batman Redemption

Gotham City

Gotham

Shadow of the Bat
None of those titles really do it for me either. The 2 Gotham ones just don't scream Batman to an average movie goer even with the success of TDK, same with Shadow of the Bat. Batman Redemption seems too much like the old formula for Batman titles like Schumacher's. This third movie's title is gonna be tough to top TDK and I really haven't seen any suggestions so far that have really knocked my socks off. The only one I think is ok is "The Batman" just because it seems to be most appropriate for the direction the 3rd movie will probably go in, but its definitely not the same caliber as TDK.

It was pretty much a no-brainer that Nolan would return for another Batman. I'm glad to hear that it's official though! :applaud

i propose "hunt the dark knight".

Perhaps "The Knights Hunt"?

"Wabbit Hunting at Knight?"

But seriously, I think your getting somewhere with "hunt" and "Knight". I just can't come up with something truly creative.
