^Ah right, I personally thought people were too harsh on him in TS also, it wasnt his best performance obviously, far from it, but I didnt see any actual 'bad acting' from him in the movie. Same with Worthington in COTT.

Having watched the original then the remake, I can make an honest comparison of the two:

Original Vs. Remake

I understand Perseus having a modernized take to connect with today's audience by getting a buzzcut to make him badass with Sam Worthington, but I prefer Harry Hamlin as the pretty boy because that look fits better with the character.
Perseus: ORIGINAL

Liam Neeson was better in the role than Laurence Olivier, even with his shiny knight armor.
Zeus: REMAKE

With all due respect to Maggie Smith, I felt Hades was a better and more believable antagonist than Thetis. Plus you can never go wrong with Raph Fiennes.
Main villain: REMAKE

Perseus falling love with Andromeda then making the journey to save her was better than Perseus not giving a damn about her and doing it only for revenge.
Plot: ORIGINAL

In the original, Perseus's party were a bunch of jobbers nobody cared about. At least in the remake, they had names and you kinda had a connection with them plus Draco was awesome! Its a shame Ammom had to go, but Io was a better replacement plus I hated Bubo!
Supporting cast: REMAKE

Black Pegasus looks better.
Pegasus: REMAKE

I liked the new look of the Stygian witches. Too bad they didn't end the scene the same way as in the original plus the "You will die, Perseus!" warning didn't lead to anything.
Stygian Witches: REMAKE

The Man-sized scorpions were better than the over the top Transformer sized ones.
Giant Scorpions: ORIGINAL

I liked Perseus's new sword, but no invisible helmet was a farce. I did like the scorpion hide shield though.
Weapons: DRAW

I liked Calibos having superhuman abilities and the fact that he was Acrisius in the remake, but his demonic look in the original was superior than him being a Klingon warrior. Plus no whip or trident hand was disappointing.
Calibos: ORIGINAL

I prefer the Grim Reaper rowing the boat instead of the reject from Resident Evil.
Charon: ORIGINAL

The original Medusa scene was the best part of the movie. It was dark, suspenseful, and had a slow build with an amazing score being used plus Hamlin holding up her decapitated head at the end of scene as proof of a hard fought victory was an epic climax. In the remake, it was an action packed, fast paced, adrenaline rush chase that had no emotional connection. I did like Medusa playing mind games and laughing when she took pleasure out of hunting and killing off her victims, but I did NOT like her being pretty. Medusa is always ugly, period.
Medusa: ORIGINAL

I prefer the Rancor look over Harryhausen's Dragon Man
Kraken: REMAKE

Perseus marries Andromeda and lives happily ever after ruling over Jappa was the perfect ending to the original film. Perseus turning down Andromeda to reunite with Io was a dumb change.
Ending: ORIGINAL
So overall, the remake was done better with the minor stuff, but the original still prevails with the important aspects of the film.

I'm hoping the DVD will have deleted scenes.. and a ton of them. I dunno, I kinda felt most of it was sleepy. :/

Don't get me wrong, I liked it the first time! But man, I took my little brother to see it about a week later.. and I was borderline nappin'.. x_X;

Well I'm late to this party.

I saw Clash of the Titans last night, as I have a friend and she really wanted to see it. I have been avoiding it due to the heinous reviews and terrible WOM.

Well...the WOM was right.

There were three things to like about this movie:

1) The special effects, particularly the Kraken. For such a low budget, they looked pretty darn good and the Kraken was just cool.

2) Liam Neeson. 'Nuff said.

3) Gemma Arteton doing her best to elevate mediocrity. She brings a classical poise and restrained sexiness to this movie. While a bastardization of Greek mythology I learned, especially considering Io is his great x7 grandmother, it is clear why Perseus chose Io. The princess is nice, but she's not Gemma Arteton. With that said, even Gemma's charms couldn't save this film.

It is just so hollow. The entire thing is presented with a thud. The first half hour is very mechanical exposition. It was running through the "gods are angry, Perseus loses family, Perseus must go on quest to ssave the princess" without really investing in the characters and their emotional states. Andromeda may as well have been a wet blanket.

From there it rather mechanically tries to get a band of brothers feeling going, sell romance in the most chaste and unGreek way possible and have three major action setpieces. All the while it was stealing, not homaging, but wholesale borrowing scenes and images from better films, books and even video games (and not just God of War). I saw scenes lifted from Kingdom of Heaven, Lord of the Rings and characters completely ripped off from Pan's Labyrinth and even the Resident Evil video games (Resident Evil 2, I believe).

And even the big plot points, like Perseus killing Hades were rushed through. All this may have worked fine if Perseus was really likable. But that was not the case. I never got the Sam Worthington hate. Other than HBC, nobody got out of T4 looking good. Even if he was CGI enhanced half the movie, he solidly carried the lead role in Avatar. But here...he was incredibly wooden. No charisma. They needed a Russell Crowe and got a Paul Walker performance instead.

Such a waste. I should have seen Kick-Ass again. Oh well.

Such a waste. I should have seen Kick-Ass again. Oh well.

You know what the sad part is too? COTT made about 10 times the box office that Kick Ass did. So while Kick-Ass, a great film that could easily spawn a series of sequels probably won't get one, I'm sure in a year's time we'll have Let's Clash Again Like We Did Last Summer coming to a theater near you.

If that's not a sign that the whole world is f**ked, I don't know what is.

...cause the first one (*shudders at the thought of a sequel*) made more than enough money and the general public ate it up like the idiots that they are?

I just came back from Kick-Ass and it was a fan-****ing-tastic film. It is sad how it's financially struggling. Oh well, I'll do my part and not support ****** movies like Clash.

Creative Lineup Shuffles Loom For 'Clash Of The Titans' And 'Journey To The Center of The Earth' Sequels

EXCLUSIVE: Who said the franchise business was easy? Two big Warner Bros sequels are in the offing, and both of them are wrestling with major elements changes from the original moneymakers. Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures are moving ahead with a sequel to Clash of the Titans, which the studio would like as early as spring, 2012. But they will make the journey without Louis Leterrier, who will not return for an encore as director. Sam Worthington will return, as well as most every other character that survived. Greg Berlanti will write the story and the studio is already canvassing the agencies for a writer and director who can whip the movie into shape to shoot before Worthington makes Avatar 2. Leterrier will remain peripherally involved as executive producer. It isn't unheard of for the original director of a big hit film to drop off the sequel--Doug Liman on The Bourne Identity comes to mind--and insiders swear that the Leterrier move was harmonious and are saying he wasn't of a mind to rush into another installment of Greek mythological mayhem. The original has grossed around $390 million, on a $120 million budget with no real gross outlay. By the time it's done, Clash will be one of the year's biggest hits.

Hmm....
Th stuff that i posted could've very well been true after all. That Louis's movie just wasn't what WB expected it to be. It's kinda similar to what Brian Singer's role in a superman sequel will be ( that he will be attached as a producer but essentially would have no role in making the movie).

And crank out a sequel in 2 years time.
Well good luck. It has worked with movies like Iron Man 2 and Spider-man 2 and of course the 3rd TF movie but the 3rd TF movie aside , in SPidey's case they started filming without a complete script and IM has the benefit of the constant improv from RDJ and co. It can be a pain in the ass for other actors ( as Jeff Bridges said on his experience filming the first IM movie) but the prime focus lies with the action scenes.

But it's not like Worthington can improv. like RDJ unless you want endless variations of "how he'll do it like a man" :hehe:
Seriously though back when COTT was first announced , it was planned as a franchise. No doubt that going 3-d saved WB from disaster and they can go forward with their initial plans. I'm hoping that they use this movie as an example of doing things right.

Like i've said in previous posts. I'm still surprised that WB would screw up with a production this bad considering that they usually give directors quite alot of freedom. With LL going away there might be a good chance of them majorly improving the sequel

more bad 3D from WB

sooba8.gif

it wont get as bad as COTT but still.

you need to understand what happened now. there is no need to use 3D cameras in WB's mind. they made money. making a native 3D movie is more expensive. with 3D conversations its easier and more cheaper for the studio. the masses dont care for now. until then when they will notice that tis not the same WB will make billions.

IMO :)

The 1981 cult favorite Clash of the Titans gets a 2010 remake that works on a few levels and fails on others.
This 2010 version for the most part sticks to the same script as the 1981 film
Man has turned against the Gods cursing them, destroying any tributes to them and some even stating that they are God's
Zeus's (Liam Neeson)sovereignty has been basically challenged,so his brother Hades (Ralph Fiennes) asks to be let loose on those humans that oppose the God's
Zeus allows Hades to reign terror on the humans in order to drive them to prayer and beg the Gods for deliverance.
Enter Perseus (Sam Worthington) son of Zeus and half human making him a demi-God.He wants vengeance for his adopted family killed by Hades.
The action sequences in COTT are fun to watch but far to short, the film offers some nice visuals.I also liked the humor and the tone the film aims for.
But its definitely missing the heart of the film on which it is based. There was nothing in the film that made me feel attached to any of the characters or their fates.
Its definitely missing the magic touch of Ray Harryhausen,i actually longed to watch one of his sword and myth flicks after watching this.
You can tell the rush job that was done on the 3D,and the scenes that were thrown in so the audience can get some kind of low rate 3D thrills.
More time should have been spent on the script. All of the actors do the best they can with it though.
Is COTT horrible? No but you can definitely wait for the DVD,but for now do yourself a favor and rent the original which was just released on DVD
Scale of 1-10 a 7

I think the Sam Worthington hate is a little OTT. I thought he was fine in both TS and Avatar, and in COTT he had absolutely nothing to do except glare, do fight scenes, and say "I'll do this as a man!" (by the way, he didn't write his dialogue, you know).

Frankly Ralph Fiennes doesn't exactly come across like an Oscar nominee in COTT either.

More titans? God no. I thought the Kraken was the last of the titans, or was that stated in the original?

Bad idea, but i can't say i'm surprised.:csad:

The Kraken isn't a Titan. It was a beast that Hades created to help the Olympians defeat the Titans (at least in the film).

Good to hear a sequel will happen but I don't like how Leterrier isn't directing it. I really do believe that the film we saw wasn't his version but the studio's hence why they don't want him for the sequel.

Totally agreed, I even though Neeson was dodgy in some scene's, so the movie in general was written poorly, as I have stated before Worthington was given nothing to do so dont know poeple can have a go at him.

Not surprised they are doing a sequel after the bank the first one made, just dont know were they can go with the story.

Maybe in the sequel...we'll actually see Titans clash. Cause they didn't in this movie

so i watched this movie in 2D. how is it possible? the reactions to the 3D were so bad that almost everyone was complaining about the 3D so the theater in desperation added the 2D version.

hahahahhahahhahahah muhahahahahhahah . this is what you get by ordering only the 3D version when everyone said that it sucks. i am a little more positive that the next time a 3D movie is realesed they will order both versions. 2D and 3D. so GL's 3D can suck i think i will get a 2D version.

everything was said about the movie. you know you have low expectations and you know that the ''i will do it as a man'' line is mentioned many times in the movie. but i never expected it to be so bad.
i lost a lot respect for Sam Worthington now. doesnt matter if COTT was you third hollywood movie. every actor on this planet should have enough respect for himself to refuse to use those lines 4 times in the movie. i think not even Paris Hilton in a cheap horror movie would do this.

and where the hell were hes facial expressions? he should be ashamed for signing on this project. this was after terminator bombed right? boy run....................run away from MCG and Leterrier

Watched this yesterday. I saw a sequel coming with the ending. I like the film, but I think part of that is me wanting to like it. Felt like a script that needed a few more looks.

I agree, no one was very good in this movie, and it was mostly due to the script and direction.

However, I think the Worthington hate stems from a bunch of us who have seen people (many of which on this board) who praised the hell out of this guy after seeing him in one movie (T:S) and proclaim that he is "the next big action star." I think there are some people out there who are just so hard up for someone to fill the shoes of Arnold Schwarzenneggar that when they see some guy with average acting ability taking a bunch of action hero roles, they jump the gun. And since those movies made money, then he's clearly going to be huge, right?

But it's time for those people to accept a simple fact. Worthington was in three movies that were going to make money no matter who was in them. You could argue that landing such high-profile roles is evidence of his talent, but it could also just boil down to him having a good agent.

i wish there was a middle movie that takes the best of both.

i liked the motives in the remake

i like zeus in remake, but didn't like his outfit. should have looked like a white version of hades' costume

i hate them having it a fight between zeus and hades. it is often misinterpreted that hades is evil and was tricked into ruling the underworld. the original story is that the 3 main ones-poseidon, zeus, and hades---ended up where they are after drawing straws.

kraken was cool but unneccsary. they could have used a greek one. and i liked the initial introduction of kraken which they let out in this one. he was only one screen for 5 mins, and was defeated pretty easily. we never appreciate just how powerful he is.

didn't like the love interest in the remake, unnecessary change.
