I unleash the Kraken on VRICH for bumping this thread.

When I get the Blu Ray next week, I'll do it as a man.

When I watch the Green Lantern preview that comes with it, I'll get as excited as a man.

(did that even make any sense?)

Are you sure theres a Green Lantern preview on it?

People with advance copies have said otherwise

Was thinking the other night and don't know if this has been brought up but:
Does Medusa's stare not killing the Jin imply she can only kill human males? if that were the case how could it have killed the Kraken? Or was the Jin just an exception because he technicly wasn't flesh and bone anymore? Or at all?

Medusa look should be able to stone anything or anyone but there is always some execption. I guess the Djinn was a too powerfull sorcerer to be stonned. In the movie it is said that Medusa curse included to not be able to kill women but I am not sure if it right mythologicaly speaking but it was a plot device to explain why Io couldn't help Perseus in Medusa lair.

Really? Well that blows.

I only heard about the preview from the SHH article a couple of weeks back.

Just watched this and thought it was ok. Sure it couldve been better but ohwell. Wish the other gods got some actual screentime (and hopfully one day we will get a movie/tv show about them that is actually good)

Anyone else buy the blu-ray? For what its worth, the extras (deleted scenes, alternate ending) makes it look like they filmed a different movie. They gave a lot of character development for Apollo and Athena making them out to be the ones helping Perseus' instead of daddy rapist. Andromeda was even going to be Perseus real love interest.

I wished they stuck with what they had, I would've been a little less bothered by the changes I saw.

BY ZEUS! THE VERSION OF CLASH OF THE TITANS YOU DIDN'T SEE

Mind you this article was writen a couple of days after the movie came out

Interesting read. I honestly never saw that article before, thanks for the link. For me sadly it only makes the final cut all the more devastating compared to what could've been released.

I made similar post here in this thread but anyway.
The breakdown that Chud is giving is part of what they saw on-set as well as what was written in the original script.
To me at least it's strange to see WB ( and Legendary) meddling so much with the editing since they usually have a hands-off approach when it comes to their projects , giving the director lots of creative freedom to dotheir own thing.
Usually when WB demands reshoots etc , it has to do with the fact that the movie isn't just what they wanted . Again given just how much freedom they have given directors , this could very well mean that they saw some serious problems with the cut that LL delivered. Hence why they went with half assed 3d conversion in order to compensate for eventual losses.

Look at The Last Airbender. I also think that Paramount saw at an early stage that M Night Shymalan f**cked up so bad that they added the 3d conversion in order to compensate for the loss.

And despite wide spread criticism , i think that if i were it WB's place i'd probably do the same thing. Any company can deal with criticism but it's a different thing when you're facing a loss of millions of dollars. Sites like Nikki Finke were saying that many pro-3d exec. a WB were pissed at the conversion job yet all took a unified stance in defending the move by WB.
IMO the fact that WB is going to shoot the sequel in 3d from the start just shows that the 3d on COTT was damage control because LL screwed up bad.

She could not turn the Djinn to stone because he had no flesh (or flesh like organs) to turn to stone. She could turn Women to stone, it was just that women could not go into the temple.

Yeah, it was strange watching the deleted scene's and alternate ending as they seemed to be from a totally different movie.

Perseus kissing Andromeda in a couple of the deleted scene's makes you wonder why they changed the lvoe interest from her to Io, maybe they thought Arterton was going to be huge after PoP so they didnt want the character killed off? Who knows, either way, I can enjoy the film when I watch it, but it feels very disjointed, especially towards the end, its a really strange situation.

It was not "that good" but it was better than the remake and has a charm of its own.

That owl is probably the single most idiotic thing in a movie I have ever seen. It may have been awesome back then but as JAMON said...it is very dated. The graphics are terrible, the music is terrible, and the acting is hammy.

You didn't saw JarJar in the Phantom Menace ? :)

A movie can be dated and still good. Metropolis is date, Nospheratu is dated, Jason and the Argonautes is dated.

The graphics are terrible, the music is terrible, and the acting is hammy.
Perseus in the original is wooden as wooden can be, true but Ralphe Fiennes was as bad as well for an actor of his caliber. I don't really care about the music ( I don't have a "musical" hear ), it didn't strick me as bad but I have to disagree about the graphics, Calibos, Medusa, even Pegase were better in the original.

As far as I am concerned the original is a classic the new version will be forgotten after a year.

Please don't compare Metropolis or Nospheratu to Clash of the Titans. Those are leaps and bounds better. I would compare Clash to the original King Kong. They were awe inspiring movies when they came out...but they are nothing more than popcorn fodder. They aren't amazing pieces of cinema that stand the test of time like Metropolis, Gone with the Wind, etc. They are just basically hollow movies with awesome fx for their time. I would put Transformers into this league. Just basically images with mediocre acting, horrible dialogue, a bad plot, and a weak script...but the fx are amazing.

Jar Jar was annoying, that owl is just stupid.

It wasn't a straight comparisson, I wanted to say that dated doesn't necessary means bad.
No, Clash of The Titan wasn't a masterpiece of cinema but it is still a classic nonetheless ( IMO ).
No love for poor Bubo, it was a mechanical replica of Athena's owl crafted my Ephaistos ( I think it was him who made it, my memory may failed me ).

Well, what can I say, I have a very large soft spot of this kind of movie :)
