Sam Wortington is so boring to me, though. I don't see why he's being groomed as the next big action star

I don't get him too much either, but apparently he strikes a cord with some people. I also never understood the appeal of Steven Segal or Jean Claude Van Damme back in the day.

Funniest part of the previews was the guy next to me grinning like a fool and his leg started twitching when the Kraken showed up. Wanted to lean over and tell him to go to the bathroom.

People like Sam because he brings that bad ass action star quality that Hugh and Crowe brought.He may not have the same range as those 2 fellow Aussies but still none the less he brings that bad ass quality .

Doubt it. The director isn't exactly the master of artful dialogue that you want to watch two people talking for 5 minutes.(I'll fight them as a man. But you're not a man.)(Oh Brother). This will probably be a wam-bam thank you mam movie. I'm guessing around a hour 45 to 50 minutes.

Dialogue does not always make or break a movie (case in point: Avatar). The guy who's directing this is the same man who gave us last year's KICK-ASS Hulk reboot. If he could get the freaking HULK right, I'll be you ANYTHING his take on Clash of the Titans will be just as good!

Besides, how could you naysay about a guy who did what Ang Lee chose NOT to do: MAKE THE HULK F-ING TALK (sorta, but hopefully they'll expand on this in future films with the character)!:

Holly wood has been trying to find the "next big action star" since the heyday of Arnie and Jean Claude Van Damme. If Worthington doesn't branch out a bit, he's going to crumble faster than you can say Vin Diesel.

Agreed. However, Worthington's proved himself as a competent actor with Avatar. Let's see if he'll keep up the good work with this, then we'll judge whether or not he can keep his career intact for the time being. He's only been in 3 films so far. It's a little too early to say if he'll end up like Vin Diesel or The Rock *shudder* (MAN, do I feel sorry for those two, btw; they had SUCH promise, but they squandered their gifts for potential bad-assery ; yeah, I know I just semi-quoted "9", lol).

Besides, I think Worthington might make an AWESOME replacement for Mel Gibson for that planned Mad Max 4!t:

(Sigh), yeah, I think that The Rock had a shot at the "next action star" thing but blew it with way too many crappy family films. That Tooth Fairy movie looks like it has the potential to be the worst movie ever made. It's a shame too, because I think he does have some talent.

Diesel fits the action hero mold ever more so, in my opinion, but he too made the mistake of choosing too many bad or questionable projects over surefire hits. Choosing Riddick over sequels to The Fast and the Furious and xXx hurt his career. He may have salvaged it a bit since he did that 4th Fast & Furious installment, but he still doesn't possess that "x factor" (no pun intended) that he had for a year or two. I can understand getting behind projects that you believe in, but honestly... Riddick and A Man Apart weren't half as good as the producers clearly thought they were.

As for Worthington... wasn't impressed with him in either T:S or Avatar, but hopefully he'll be good in Clash. To be honest though, I really don't give a crap about him... I'm seeing this movie for the Kraken and the other beasts, as well as Neeson, Fiennes and Alexa Davalos.

It's weird, they showed the second trailer with Holmes but it was in the same style as the first trailer. They took the middle of the new one and made it like the first. Even having the "Damn the Gods" tagline. Anyone else have this?

Why all the hate for Worthington? I thought he did fine in T4 (haven't seen Avatar yet though) plus he looks believable as a hero in CotC plus I like that Perseus isn't a pretty boy this time around.

Knowing Hollywood they would've either casted Jason Statham or if they wanted a poor man's Harry Hamlin, they would've gotten somebody like Orlando Bloom.

Agreed. Just saw both Pitch Black and Riddick for the first time the other day. Diesel in general is terrible. Pitch Black was probably the best he'll ever make.
