People would say Ahnuld has more charisma and screen presence. But in his first few movies, he didn't. They both have trouble with their accent (Ahnuld STILL ****ing does lol) and both ain't incredibly deep actors. So I'd say that's a fair comparison.

But either Worthington needs to develop more charisma and presence like Arnie did. Or he needs to go the other way and become a fully fledged actor, not action star.

I don't know about the comparisons. Arnold is Austrian. He was learning English, or was struggling with it, and was in B-movies till..Conan or Terminator. Meanwhile, English is Sam's native tongue and starred in two (and soon three) fairly big mainstream movies.

BTW, Arnold was an anomaly in Hollywood.

He was one of a kind and what happened to him won't happen again. You have to think the gateway for him was the 80s, where it give birth to the blockbusters. Big action movies were fresh back then.

Not a good comparison. Arnold came from the era of little acting talent tough guys. His contemporaries where Jean-Claude, Mr. T, Segal, Chuck Norris, and etc. Heck, Charles Bronson played the same guy in every movie.

Nowadays, Worthington is going against Liam Neeson, Bale, Brad Pitt, and Crowe etc. As long as he can keep finding action roles were the main draw is something else, then he may be fine.

I read that Arnold was advised to change his last name Schwaznegger to make it easier for people to spell & pronounce, but he resisted. Turns out to be a pretty good decision.

Yep, I'm not that big of a fan of Sam either. He just seems to bland. The hair thing I can look past. He just has that same vibe whenever he's playing a character.

If that vibe was actually interesting I wouldn't care.

That sounds familiar. I think he grew his hair out and either he or the director hated how it looked so it was just cut short.

It's kinda hard to defend Sam, besides in being big movies with such a young career. Honestly, I see as competent but he needs to break loose and maybe do a small drama.

I think even Chris Pine left a better impression on me with just one movie, Star Trek. Maybe it's the characters Sam's playing: the stoic type. But still, the young Mel Gibson had so much gravity when he played fairly stoic Mad Max.

Yeah, I remember seeing him on one of the late night talk shows for Avatar. He was saying how he started to agree with fans online complaining about stuff in TS. Like how no one fricken heard that big harvester robot coming until it was right on top of them.

Kind of cool to see an actor acknowledge these things and admit they were kind of dumb.
