I saw it today. I really enjoyed it for a popcorn action movie. I agree with some people here as to that it seemed the movie had some poor editing or scenes just cut too short. I just went into the film knowing that the plot/story wasn't going to be strong. I figured it wouldn't stay true to the original film, which I enjoyed as a kid. I'm not big into mythology creatures and characters, which is probably why I liked the movie because I don't know how "true" they were to their original characters. I think there is just way too much story to put into a less than 2 hour movie so it was rushed.

As much as I love thrillers and suspense movies with great storylines, etc., I can also just sit back, relax and enjoy an action movie for what it is. Saw it in 2D by the way. I will pass on a second viewing in the theater. But I will buy it on DVD. :cwink:

7.5/10

The fan of movies thought it was fun movie. Sure there were some plot holes
why exactly would the Kraken attacking Argos weaken Zeus...infact why would you order something that would weaken you???

The Kraken attack was supposed to turn the people against Zeus and make them further hate instead of loving him and worshiping him. This would have weakened him while Hades, who feeds off their fear and hate, grew strong enough to overthrow Zeus. As to Zeus ordering the attack, presumably he didn't know this--pretty strange for the King of the Gods--and only wished to turn the people against each other and, as he says, back to the gods. Divide and conquer, I guess, though since everyone knows the gods run the Kraken, why people turning against each other would have driven them back to him isn't too clear to me, especially since at the film's beginning almost everyone seems fed up with the gods anyhow.

exactly...it didnt make sense that Zeus wouldnt know it would make him weaker

Just got back. This movie was hilariously awful. Sam Worthington sounded like he was off to throw a steak on the barbie, not fight monsters. If you are going to watch it, don't waste your money on it in theatres. Get it on DVD, buy a case of beer, invite over some friends, and take a swig everytime a movie cliche appears on screen. You're welcome.

Just saw this movie: pretty bad. There were a few brief cool moments buried under lots of cliches and half-baked ideas.

Never saw the original so I could only judge this based on its own merits and I found it severely lacking.

I hope LL name comes out the Avengers grab bag

thanks for the reviews guys, im seeing in 30 min with my bro

I found myself laughing throughout this entire movie. I loved the fight scenes and the women playing Io had very nice eyebrows...just saying. :D

3/5

It's been a while since I've seen the original so it's al little difficult to make a full comparison.

I saw this in 2-d and really enjoyed it. I would say it's like the Pirates of the Carribean of Greek Mythology films. I thought Sam Worthington was ok but
the supporting cast mainly Draco (Mikellson) , Hades (Fiennes) , and Neeson (Zuess),
were all good in their roles. Gemma Arterton looks gorgeous and I was distracted , lol, might be the reason I like this film more than most here.
I can see why the change with Andromeda not being the love interest didn't help things. It seemed like this was the only place on Earth the Gods cared about but i wasn't really sure why .
Aisde form that it was fun , there are some funny moments , the special effects were mostly good . The Medusa was kind of a dissapointment because she didn't feel that creepy compared to the original . Calibos seemed to make up for that though. The Krakken on the other hand was amazing as a visual . The action sequences were all good but the ending did seem to happen really fast but I suppose if the main villians had more time they wouldn't of had anyone left to kill.

I am a HUGE Harryhausen fan, but I must say the CLASH is one of his weaker films - so the changes made in this remake do not offend me as much as others.

*Did like them digging out the golden owl(from original) and telling Persious to put it back :)
When I was walking out of the theater I was overhearing some kids complain about the owl not doing anything and why it was even put in the film :csad:

The bit with Bubo was a nice in joke. That owl was SO hated by everyone when the original came out, I wish he had that little screen time back in '81.

It used to be on all the time when i was younger . I swear you couldn't miss it . Alot of things are lost on today's generation.

I really enjoyed the movie. 8/10 for me. In my opinion its worth checking out in the theater. And a little background info, I do like the original, saw it in 2D, wife and kids enjoyed it as well, will be picking it up on blu ray when its released.:yay:

Well it makes sense to start playing it again but I would of liked to have caught it . I'm hoping Blockbuster will get the blu though.

well Jason and the Argonauts was on before and then after was Sinbad.

So does the Perseus character in this movie turn a giant monster into stone with a cut-off Medusa head? I won't be seeing this movie until it hits DVD so I have to know now. :oldrazz:

I'm a fan of the original COTT btw, saw it as a kid and thought it was awesome.

for me the original is better because it flows better, this movie the pacing is off and there are part where the movie slows to a crawl and is franky boring. I think the original medusa is better than the remake as is the kraken.

2/5 or 6/10

6/10.

I had fun. Wish there was a little more character. Letterrier can do action though.

Io was beautiful, but I kept waiting for Perseus to get after Andromeda.

First of all, it's not a rip off. I haven't seen the film yet, but it's a remake. I guess that's what you call all remakes then.
