yeah i think they were trying to film with 3D cameras but then they decided to save money. it was cheaper to create teh fake 3D i nthat short time.

I asked yesterday how this movie could be worse than the first and after seeing it today...I now understand why.

This movie has ZERO heart. You don't care for anybody at all. Everyone could die and no one would care. Even the amazing Bill Nighy is in it for only like 5 minutes. They have dulled down Hades since the last movie and of course they give Poseidon as much screen time as a Bill Murray cameo.

The only plus this movie has is Kronos' visual effects. That's it. The Mikhai looked awesome but yeah they weren't in it very long. Nothing is explained other than how to destroy Kronos. That is as far as they dive into Greek mythology. Such a waste. I actually got bored.
Agreed. This movie just plain sucked it was just so boring..No heart, No story depth, nor character depth. I about dozzed off a few times during the movie...I think the only things I liked were Kronos(lava giant), and the short fight between percious and Aries(sp). It maybe an okay movie to have on blu-ray,but

Disagree about the heart. However I do think they could have been more sentimental towards one scene in the end. I think they may have been nervous about going too sentimental in that scene though, but still not enough. As said, I'm biased here since I'm an orphan lol - so everything they're going through, all the struggles, and etc. I've had already in my own life lol.

While they didn't explain the Greek mythology, it was all in the background. Here I think it helps going in with a knowledge of greek mythology. In that they don't slow down to explain things. But, if you do know the mythos - it's all there.

For example:

Cyclops are often the children of Poseidon. Thus, why they stopped upon realizing Poseidon's demi-god son was amongst them. For general audiences what was going on may have leaped right over their heads as to the cyclops motive - but, I personally loved that part.

Those who know the mythos - it is there and then some, but for those who don't know it I can see how some parts can go over their heads. I think being a big mythology buff may have aided in my understanding of all the background details lol. Thus, I liked how they didn't really slow down to explain it - but, I can understand how others would dislike that part.

Should've just let the Cyclops speak in a ****ing language the audience can understand.

The movie had a pretty soft opening against Hunger Games only about $37 million.

Disagree with you there.
Seeing Hades and Zeus forgive each other and ultimately come together was one of the few emotionally uplifting parts of the movie imo. It was great seeing Hades become redeemable and at that point I was hoping he and Zeus would be the last gods standing. Zeus' farewell to Perseus was just as good seeing Perseus trying to restrain his grief, it could be felt too imo. They did a much better job with Zeus and Hades in this movie than in Clash.

It fell flat because it was rushed. They didn't have time to develop it.

This movie felt like the second act of a longer film. The first act was missing and they never got to the third act.

It was a short in and out type of movie. That's why I say go see it for bargain matinee instead of full 3D/IMAX price. It's just not epic enough as it should be. When I think of Clash of The Titans I think of other big sceen epics and to me it's right up there with Ben-Hur, Ten Commandments, etc. It's a classic.

Both Titans movie lack in this department. Nothing has time to sink in.

I didn't really see it as rushed. But, I can see how it can seem like the second act. The first act being CLASH OF THE TITANS. Because I am interested in wanting to see how the story between Perseus and his son unfolds. But to me that's just leaving and wanting to see more - which in this case, imo, is a good thing. Because I'm hyped for the sequel while also really liking this film.

Vile, just wondering - what form did you see the movie in? Did you see it standard? Standard 3D? Or Imax 3D? I mean at my theater it was one of the better IMAX experiences of the year including the 3D as said, I sometimes felt like I had to duck out of the way lol - but it might just be because I was really engrossed in the film that the 3D had 10x the effect.

I knew this would end up being kind of a waste of my money. This movie has no depth. I didn't care for Perseus, Andromeda, or the gods. I didn't care whether they succeeded or not. Honestly, I didn't even feel sorry for Zeus whatsoever. There were two good things about this movie, the visual effects and Perseus being a bearable character. Even though I didn't care for this man at all in this film, at least I had a neutral opinion of him. I got SICK of him trying to be a man, doing things like a man, and not embracing that he is a demigod. At least in this film, he acknowledged that he was a demigod and didn't b**** about it for the whole movie. Everything else was quite simply mediocre.

These films had so much potential. I remember years back, there was this thread about old movies that could be great remakes. The first two that came to mind was The Day the Earth Stood Still and Clash of the Titans. I was wrong on both accounts.

This might be the first post converted 3D film that was actually good. I was pleasantly surprised, It felt like a film that was shot in 3D. As for the film itself it was vastly different from the first film, it didn't follow the same path or retread the same parts from the first film (except for the Kraken). The first film was taking itself seriously whereas in Wrath they are self aware on the story and knew what it wanted to be, a fun mindless popcorn film with tons of action. The film moved pretty fast so it wouldn't have to rely on a heavy plot like what they tried to in the first film. Overall it was pretty good.
7/10

suck it haters. :o

Digital 3D projection at the Rave Theater in Los Angeles.

I saw the first one digital 3D at the Arclight.

Granted it did not look as purely bad as the first one did, but it still just didn't pop and have that extra depth.

Funny that you described it as short, because to me it felt too long. I nodded off a couple times. To be fair, I was tired when I saw the film, so I can't say the film was the cause of my dozing.

Overall I liked it better than the first. I can't say if the quality improved overall, or that it being a new story I didn't compare it to the original Clash and find it wanting like I did with the first film.

I thought the creature designs were better in this film, as was the costuming, over the Clash remake. Rosamund Pike was an upgrade. Sam Worthington isn't as much of a jerk as he was in the first film.

I felt they really cut back too much on the cast. I wish we had seen more of the gods. Athena, Apollo, and Artemis would've been kick ass in this. I also wish there had been more mythological creatures in the film, though I did enjoy Cronus. The action at times was hard to follow.

I didn't get or buy Hades's change of heart. It felt more plot driven than organic. But for the most part I guess it worked as big, sweeping, epic-looking pop corn film. I have no real desire to see it again though. However I might when it comes to DVD only to see if it's actually better when I am wide awake.

Huh, I'm surprised about that. I mean the Arclight is my favorite theater ever. The one here - small town nowhere lol - had great 3D. Was kind of wondering if it was the theater itself, but betting it's not now. I was also sitting WAY up close in IMAX - so that may have been part of the reason why the 3D really impacted me...

Also to those complaining about Perseus not wanting to accept his demi-god status the first time around... now I can't speak for most orphans, hell even a lot but I can speak for myself... allegiance aligns with those who raise you not a father who shows up out of nowhere. Plus with a father of that history and that being how you were born? Yeah, you'd be pissed at the guy. So it wasn't really anger towards gods as it was anger towards his father. Partly why Ares was a good villain to me. Both coming from the same place in a way, but Perseus was more noble. An orphan welcoming his father and that side of his identity with wide open arms? Is hard to come by, or at least for me personally, so I would have seen that as unrealistic to the situation.

I almost tend to like Clash better than this overal as a film. I do agree that Percious accepting his Demi side was good, but his denial in the first movie kindof helped the story arc(though it did get old).
I forgot to mention in my first post I did like the cyclops sequence and I do agree wish they spoke a language we could understand.
I think if they would of treated this movie like Jason and the Argonauts and had a big epic quest and had these monsters along the way it would of been better I think(kindof like the first one). Even if they just made the end battle more epic, more grander it would of helped. Anywho, it is what it is......

Arclight is a nice theater Ultimatehero, but even a good theater can't fix the horrible converted 3D look of the first Clash of The Titans.

Oh wait. Nm. Got confused by first and second time. Thought you saw Wrath in 3D for a second. Maybe my IMAX 3D version of the film just had a better projector than the Rave Theater (actually, never been there - more of a Mann's Chinese, Arclight, and AMC guy myself). As said, where I was, could have just been how close I was to the screen though, felt like I had to dodge debris.

Another thing that bugged me about this movie was Poseidon. You don't cast an actor like Danny Huston to only be in the movie for 2 minutes. Clash did this and so did Wrath. Complete waste of talent.

I'll be watching this as a double bill with chronicle first followed by the imax version in 4 hrs time

Spoilers.

Seeing Worthington emotion the pain of having to fight someone he knew he couldn't beat and in front of his son was very strong. Movie need more of that. It echos louder than any pixel fight.

...especially another 1 minute flyby super weapon vs giant monster battle...can't believe they did it again...I just can't.

So is there hope for Liesbman to do a good job for Ninja Turtles?

Nope. Wrath was converted. It was NOT shot in 3D.

EDIT: Damn it...you're right. My bad. I just checked on wikipedia to confirm and got this: "Also in February, Liebesman announced that Wrath of the Titans would be converted to 3D rather than shot in 3D as previously reported despite the negative criticism the first Clash of the Titans received for its use of post-conversion 3D. Liebesman explained, 'I think what you have to remember is the first film was neither shot nor edited with 3D in mind. It was shot as a 2D movie and edited as a 2D film, and they decided to convert it with six or seven weeks to go until release, which is insane; the technology was not there. That's why we're conceiving it from the start, from the ground up, in 3D, editing in 3D for 3D.' "

Wrath of the Titans Rant:
I don’t know how to start this, for a lot of people including myself the Clash of the Titans remake was a disappointing movie that showed typical Hollywood dumbness with its plot, pacing and ending to the movie, while obviously having a huge budget to give that epic Greek mythology feeling that has enthralled the audience since Jason & the Argonauts. This movie still has the dumb plot, the weird pacing, the epic feeling, but quite sadly I do feel the awfulness of the 3rd act and the ending to this movie may make the 1st movie a more enjoyable experience, now the action, the designs and whole general plot outline is much more better here, but the last 20 minutes seemed so rushed, not to mention they don’t even care about the plot they themselves tell, such as God’s losing their powers because humans aren’t worshipping them anymore, but when you see the final battles, this is completely irrelevant.

Speaking of the Gods, they don’t even have any Gods in this movie outside Zeus, Poseidon, Hephaestus, Hades and Ares, that’s it! Poseidon decides to explain the gods have somehow vanished, so yeah they just left the movie behind the scenes. Also no one of the supporting characters (outside of 1 character, new actress) return from the 1st movie. Perseus’ quest to save the world is joined by Aregor, the son of Poseidon! (Played Toby Kebbell) He is the comedic scavenger mischief & the other hero to join Perseus is Andromeda, the young princess from the 1st movie who is now the warrior Queen of Argon. (Played by Rosamund Pike) I liked her character a lot as well, she was pretty much Xena the Warrior Princess, but sadly even she suffers from Hollywood clichés as she and Perseus must share feelings towards each other at the very end of the movie! Which reminds me, at the end of the 1st movie the love interest dies, but Zeus decides to resurrect her for Perseus (not his family included, which is what motivated Perseus to begin with in the 1st movie) now the 2nd movie literally starts with us learning it has been about 10-15 years since the 1st movie, the 1st love interest has died again, but Zeus decided to let this one slip by, despite seemingly having grown such huge fondness to Perseus,

My biggest disappointment from the movie comes from the fact I feel lied towards to, the trailers and the title imply Titans, but there truly is no other Titan in this movie besides Kronos. The marketing made me feel that the Minotaur, Cyclops, Chimaera & Makhai we’re Titan level monsters, but nope, they’re simply different variety of monsters, which is disappointing since I was assuming this was about Gods & Demi Gods against the Titans.

Now what makes this movie such a big pile of crap? Why is the darker, edgier but far more action themed and better plot outlined movie ultimately more crap than the 1st? Well here are the spoilers on the 3rd act: Practically everything is tied down in such a rushed way, heroes die left and right, plot points are completely irrelevant and it all boils down how cliché everything was, it felt like this was the 1st draft of a script that didn’t receive any ironing whatsoever. It’s just such a shame because the general idea with the movie was really cool, but so was the original envision with Clash of the Titans having Zeus as the main villain, and to be honest with how crap this movie was, it sort of made me appreciate Immortals a bit more, a movie I absolutely despised seeing in the theater.

If you really want to see this, just wait for the Blu-ray, just be prepared for a disappointment.

Of course the movie dropped off a lot from the first in the states. A lot of people thought that the first movie was awful. I'm sure it will do as well as the first or better overseas though.
