Clayface written by Mike Flanagan

It's been suspiciously quite on the director end, so it's not surprising there are names now if the intention is to film in the spring. 4 months of preproduction if this is a smaller movie makes sense.

Eden Lake is a solid movie so not a bad choice. I fail to see the point in doing this without waiting for Flanagan unless he's not particularly interested in directing for whatever reason. Or maybe it's a stealth launch for whatever they're doing with Batman so it has to hit a certain point in the release order.

This movie would make sense to me if you already launch your DCU batman, it's a hit, and you give the audience more of the DCU batman world.

I mean, he’s got a pretty full plate, plus an Amazon deal that I’m sure they’re not keen to just watch it collect dust while he runs off making movies for Universal and DC/Warner Bros.

I imagine they knew he wouldn't be able to direct when they green lit it. If they wait for him, it'll be quite the wait. I haven't seen this guy's work but I hear Eden Lake is cool and Speak No Evil isn't as bad as everyone assumed it'd be after its incessant trailer.

PS Flanagan for Brave and the Bold please.

Wadlow has a terrible track record. Fingers crossed for Watkins.

Watkins did a good job IMO with Speak No Evil and has Black Mirror experience, which strikes me as something that would apply well to something like this.

He’s the way to go, I think.

It is too bad it can’t seem to be Flanagan, though.

Kind of a gross selection but hopefully either would up their game for this. Don’t know what to expect.

And we know Flanagan only signed on as a writer right? He hasn’t been lined up to direct for a while, if ever officially, I imagine. BSL saying that now just feels like classic flame fanning.

It does feel suspicious that we’ve heard nothing (outside of our own theorizing) to suggest that Flanagan could actually direct this only for that to now be floated as a hypothetical just as we’re on the verge of a pick being made.

We hear that DC brass will be hearing pitches from potential filmmakers next week, with some of the key candidates being Truth or Dare‘s Jeff Waldow and Speak No Evil‘s James Watkins.

Wonder who the other candidates are?

So they’re taking pitches, okay. I thought they had already gone through that process. More names to come maybe.

I’d like a woman to be involved.

Well, who for example?

Watkins is an acceptable journeyman choice. Wadlow is bottom of the barrel trash.

Jeff Sneider says James Gunn is struggling to find filmmakers who want to work under him. Most filmmakers don’t want to take his notes which is why he’s left to hire low rent journeymen like Craig Gillespie and Jeff Wardlow.

Okay I am legit boycotting Supergirl for hiring a second rate dude to direct it but comparing Craig to Wadlow is a grievous injustice lmao

Absolutely no to Jeff Wadlow as a potential pick.

Kick-Ass 2 wasn't just bad, it was insulting.
