Clayface written by Mike Flanagan

So potential directors would just not sign up at all because they may potentially get notes from another creative? I don't get the logic of this "oh no notes" thing. They aren't inherently bad. That's like saying the production designer giving a note to the director is bad. That's good. Its a collaborative medium. These directors would pass up even on the potential of an already fairly exclusive job because the guy they'd go over things with is not some uncreative suit? What do these supposed potential directors want exactly?

How is this believable?

Directors see him as a peer and not someone to have authority over them. You’re also trusting your career to someone who has never run anything and has never pushed multiple projects through a huge meat grinder of a system.

This, add to the fact that it is a Batman villain project with no batman presumably. They need not look any further than Sony's spider villain movies. It's not exactly a guaranteed success.

Gunn will have an easier time attracting talent once he gets a few hits under his belt, or convinces Reeves Batman to join....

Reeves already works with Gunn though. Not buying it.

Wadlow not involved. maybe. Flanagan might've had this idea around the same time Fargeat did if there is a literal substance being injected. Not necessarily original but still. The manipulation of the literal clay face could set it apart though.

Thank God to Jeff Wadlow not being in the mix!!

Sounds like the One Bad Day Clayface story set in Hollywood. Makes sense. This way you don't have to bother with Batman lore.

It's an "out of town" story.

Bayona is in the mix and Wadlow isn’t?

My mood is improving…

Society of the Snow is quite good. Fallen Kingdom is not. What tips the scale? I haven't seen anything else from him. Not thar its a game of numbers or stats, but ya know.

The Impossible and The Orphanage are pretty good. Fallen Kingdom seems to be by far his worst film reception wise.

Still Bayona directed the hell out of Fallen Kingdom, despite having a so-so script.

He also made A Monster Calls.

Really good filmmaker.

Anyway, right now Watkins seems like the likeliest choice.

His Jurassic World wasn’t that good, but none of them were.

But I do seem to recall people enjoying when Fallen Kingdom turned into a haunted house movie for a bit in the third act, and given his resume, we can most assuredly attribute that to Bayona…

Damn Scary Sequence!

One of the scoopers said they’re looking for an actor in the 30-40 range, which feels like quite the “no **** Sherlock.”

Wish they'd just wait for Flanagan but his writing is so strong and distinctive that it's going to come through with any competent director executing it. The Speak No Evil remake looked like an atrocious bastardization but Watkins is perfectly capable of it if it wound up being him - he's made some sold movies.

Bayona would be a really fun choice. Not someone who is ever gonna elevate material but will execute what's on the paper effectively and come out with a nice looking final product.

That would be hilarious on so many levels.

I almost want it to happen just to see everyone have a melt down.

On a serious note, I think a low budget movie with a strong script could help him. The baggage all that brings along is another story which I think is a risk for getting in trying to get this thing off the ground.

Never mind. Solid choice.
