why do you think that? you dont think it could be better? you obviously think it could be worse, but why not better?

not hating on you or anything, i just want as much input as i can get before i spend 10 bucks seeing it. hey im in college and need as much money as possible

For me, the way it was filmed was much more personal. It's hard to explain. Typically when I watch a movie, monster flick or whatever...it's like "alright...yeah, that scene was kinda intense." But it's never too on the edge of my seat because the filming is done from the 3rd person...you are merely observing. (in normal movies)

But with Cloverfield, it was a whole 'nother experience for me. Taking it from the 1st person with a camera in hand made the experience deeper and much more believable. It's easy in your mind to say "it's all fake, just a movie" when you're watching a regular filmed movie...but when it's up close and personal like in Cloverfield...it's MUCH easier to lose yourself in the tension and excitement of the film because of the more realistic, 1st person touch.

The feeling even stuck with me after the film was over...which isn't common for me. It was so easy to get sucked in and that made the whole thing a heck of a lot more intense. It's a wild ride.

Oh yeah, I should add I hated blair witch. :) Which is why I had serious doubts about Cloverfield at first. But i'm a believer now. :P

Well, unlike BWP, Cloverfield actually shows you stuff.

No music as well. It accomplished the same thing that I Am Legend did.

It's nothing like Blair Witch. The characters arent annoying, and it has an actual plot. And you actually see the monster.

I saw cloverfield yesterday and it blew my mind! I consider myself a horror movie buff and films dont scare me that easily, but this one freaked me out. The whole first person perspective was amazingly well done and you really got sucked in. I thought the characters were good, very real. I'm on the fence regarding a sequal because this one was sooo amazing and original, but i for sure plan on seeing cloverfield again.

I know about the backwards verbal message at the end, although I didn't get it when I saw it in the theater.

Speaking of the closing credits, the Cloverfield music score, "Roar", that was played during the closing credits was FANTASTIC. Similar to some of the classic Godzilla themes by Akira Ifukube.

I know what you mean, but it's all cleared up here- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZu-uHaVtFY

Yeah. Living in New York City it was eerie going home(especially since I walked across the Brooklyn Bridge to get there). I would look at things and immediately get a flashback to the film like it really happened.

The scene where the tower was collapsing I immediatley thought of the 9/11 footage, the running and screaming.

R.I.P. Drunk girl who doesn't know what the hell was going on. (Marlena)

It seems to me like the couple under the bridge is still alive....I mean, the camera was right there...it wouldn't make any sense for the military to find the camera and whisper into it. :P So, sounds like to me that they were still hiding out in there and heard the monster moving around...

Wow, never thought who actually whispered!

They're dead. They got crushed by rubble. Rob may have survived, but even if he did, he's still stuck under rubble, and most likely bleeding to death. That's why his "help....me" sounded like he was dying...cause he was.

I love how you think everything in absolutes. A Sith you are:o

I just thought it was pretty obvious...I mean really,
it sounded like he was choking on his own blood while whispering...he didnt sound good

That and the origin of the monster, what was falling from the sky, how the second movie should be, etc...It's like any interpretation other than your view is wrong.

Marlena even said the monster was just eating people and you said she was disoriented...come on!

What I really wanna know is, why did Hud get [blackout]spit out?[/blackout]

I guess [blackout]it didn't want to make it it's queen[/blackout]. :D

Did Marlena remind anyone else of Zooey Deschanel?

YES! I thought the same thing all through both viewings.

Okay, so a couple things after seeing it twice now:

1) There is DEFINITELY something falling into the ocean in that last scene. I had to look intentionally and very very closely, but I saw something drop into the ocean that looked far enough away that it looked like nothing but a small spec.

2) I like the use of irony and foreshadowing: "It's 6:27am and it's already a great day.", "Good luck tonight, Travis", "We'll keep the city safe for you when you come back.", etc.

3) I have an idea that I haven't seen mentioned as a possibility of the creature's origin. Abrams has said that it has been in the water for thousands of years, yet it's also just a baby. Also, people are confused about how a creature that looks like it does would live underwater with no gills, etc. Well think about a frog. When it's in its youngest stage, it's a tadpole, complete with gills, a tail, etc. But when it gets older it changes to a frog. Perhaps this creature is like that, only this transformation takes thousands of years? Could Clovie be a "frog" that just left its "tadpole" stage, and could that be why it finally decided to surface? It could still be considered a "baby" because it's a brand new transformation for the creature, right?

4) The only way that a sequel to this movie would be the same thing just with a different person holding the camera would be if they did the movie again with Rob holding the camera. Or Lilly. Or Marlena. Then we'd have the same story and events. But to put it in the hands of someone else completely...well the possibilities of what stories you could do with that are nearly endless.

5) Cmill, I made you an avvy. :D

The monsters origin was spelled out pretty clearly by Abrams, Goodard, and the virals. That's like saying "well, I know Godzilla says he was frozen in a block of ice and freed by an atomic bomb, but I think he was a midget from outerspace with magic powers!" It just doesnt make sense to go against what the creators have told you already.

The second movie is what the director has said his idea for it should be, and I agree with him.

And the Marlena thing could have gone either way, but you were more than likely right on it, after the whole
Hud
thing, I guess. That doesnt make it the monsters motivation though.

Posting unreleased production photos and bootlegged screen caps is a bannable offense. That is about all the pictures there is.

There have been pictures posted, and I have seen many other drawings floating around. I never told anyone to post bootlegged screen caps.
