No plot? What, does a group of people trying to rescue a friend in the midst of a crisis while trying to keep themselves alive in the process not qualify as a plot? Jesus, how high do some people raise the bar?

Yeah. Any movie, if you break it down into one sentance, will have a poor plot.

Lord Of The Rings: Some midgets throw a ring in a volcano while some other people fight some other people.

Apocalypse Now: A guy goes through Vietnam to kill some fat guy.

See. Going by just that, do either of those sound like great movies? No, because you condensed an entire movie into one sentence.

Rosebud.

Crappy movie btw. Barely had a plot and the sudden ending was terrible. I give it a 5/10. I actaully got sick during the movie, idk if it was the slurpee I was drinking or the shakey camera. Or a combination of the two but I had a terrible headache and I felt like I was gonna throw up after it was over. But I usually dont have motion sickness

It didn't happen to be a Slusho, did it? :wow: Cause then we'd have your answer.

Saw this last night, awesome, love it 9 and a half out of 10 love the shaky cam approach didn't give me a headeche whatsoever, i love how they would show only parts and bits of the creature at first it made it more intriguing instead of just showing you the whole thing at once. Each time the moster would show up it almost felt like seeing it again for the first time. Hud's the best character in the movie by far, and to people that say they coudn't relate to any of the characters because they where just prettyspoiled rich kids, well that makes no sense to me. In such a disaster everyone becomes the same no matter your social status everyone is stripped of every preconception everyone has the same fears and an instinct and a desire to survive, everyone forgets the petty things.

I just saw a bunch people in the worst possible situation trying to make sense of what was happening while running for their lives I could relate to them fine.Saying that rob was the monster, well he's only human like everyone else he was selfish of course but that's the point, he was so focused to get beth that he forgot about his friends. No one can say they would do the complete opposite in an earthquake situation or other disaster, his decision makes him as human as anyone could probably be. Plus people forget one thing he didn't force lily or hud or marlena to go with him i nthe alley they could've escaped with the other people being evacuated by the military.

went to go see it last night and WOW I didnt think a movie had the ability to grab me by the cojones anymore and I was wrong....a monster movie from ground level......it was fantastic and to all the people who got sick watching it.....MAN UP

Agree. There was no real concrete plot that we excect to see in a movie. It was just basically ppl trying to survive, while trying to figure out what the heck is going on.
Monster just showed up causing mass damage, noone knows why,but thats what it was. At first I hated the idea of not knowing why it was there, why the parasites were there, but I think that was what was intended..
Maybe they are doing a Kill Bill type scenerio..First act, just killing and mass chaos. Second act; little more insight of what was going on(thats if they do a sequal(s))....
The camera shaking did get a little annoying, but it was tolerable and part of what was going on. Ppl have to remember that this was supposed to be this way,in the fact it was being shot by just normal ppl with a video cam..

exactly....everyone expects to be told everything in a movie. It was refreshing to have almost no knowledge of the situation.....

By not explaining much and spoon feeding the audience information about the monster, the movie adds a level of mystery which would have otherwise been absent if some scientist in a lab coat started to tell the camera everything regarding the monster and his origins.

I for one loved the film for that.

If you're a Lost fan, you're up to your neck in that lol. It may have been nice for movie fans, but torture for us viewers of Abram's shows.

As did I.

I guess some people just love to be spoon fed everything and have their hand held when crossing the street regardless of their age.:woot:

As I already said, there's always National Treasure 2 for those people to go see instead of Cloverfield.

To be honest, I think JJ's weakness is when he DOES try to explain his mysteries. A big reason I stopped watching Lost.

However though, JJ does extremely awesome with leaving a sense of mystery and all, and that's why he's awesome.

What exactly did Abrams contribute to this movie? It wasn't directed by him. It wasn't written by him. What did he do?

Haha, I think his explanations on Lost feel really hollow. Almost as if he wasn't going to tell us anything, but at the last minute somebody put a gun to his head and forced him to.

The entire concept from start to finish was his idea. Even though he doesn't get credit for the screenplay, it was his story idea. He just didn't write the dialogue.

Lol caleb, cloverfield = best movie ever? I think thats pretty bold

Explain the polar bear plot Abrams NOW!

Uh....It's a lady in a suit don't shoot!

I can't wait to see the behind the scenes documentaries on this film. I'm interested in how they filmed it all. The cast shot some of the footage, right? Or was Reeves (or the cinematographer) really behind the camera the entire time? Maybe 50/50?

I had the same question for Blair Witch, too.
