Do you think we should get some sort of prequel about where the monster's species originated?

I honestly don't know. I think I'm one of the few who doesn't really want any sort of sequel or prequel. But if they do one, I hope they can surprise me.

Godamnit, ignorant as hell,, how's your social life, buddy?

Since your too lazy to click the damn link how bout a copy n paste job?
Two-Face wrote: Alot of the stuff we went through didn't make sense. The 1st movie wasn't a movie, but more of a preview for the real one. Like making a movie with Gigan(The phony) as the monster, then introduce Godzilla(The main monster) in the next one to destoy Gigan.

Two-Face wrote: But think about it, in Cloverfield the monster was basically an after thought, as it was only on screen for about 5 minutes, the film revolved around characters, now if America's Monster Movie is character oriented but not on the monster, how is that America's monster. I'd say if a monster came to fight the phony, who destroyed America's symbol of freedom, and won, that would make him America's monster.

Basically this movie was to set up the villian so the hero could get more glory...from America.

I think that this really is a valid point. I really does make sense to me. Would explain why the monster didn't get much camera time; we're expected to hate this monster for what it did to NYC. Like Godzilla was an allegory for its time, this here monster could be a theatrical allegory of Bin Laden. No, no, wait, it could be. A second monster in the sequel to get America's revenge, to become America's monster. Recall, the classic Godzilla movies had Godzilla versus another monster. If Abrams is trying to revive the GM genre of movie, one would think that there would have to be some sort of versus battle to take place to put America's monster on top. Defeating this MGP from Cloverfield could do just that.
Look, you are obviously one of those guys who give all of their lives into this hype. From what I can tell, 'Cloverfield' is a stand-alone film that uses references from JJ's own 'Lost' and that's about it as far as I can tell. My advice to you is not to give into all the hype, go outside, read a book, take a bike-ride up the street, things like this can help relive you of this. Me personally, I never bought into the hype, I got interested in the movie when I saw a TV Spot one night, and looked up footage to see what it was about and thought that this could be a great monster movie(which it obviously was). Anyway, stop complaining over this, JJ nor Reeves revealed any of this so don't put too much effort into this because when you find yourself to be wrong, you just turn frustrated about it.

I think we should at least get a sequel. I feel as if this whole project of creating a kickass monster would be wasted if we didn't at least get two or three movies.

I hope they don't do the same thing. I actually kinda want to see a traditional film with the material.

Omega....take some time off to ponder why it's a good idea to stop arguing after a mod tells you to.

I meant the actual game. Last I heard we were supposed to be getting a game actually based on Cloverfield that is from a professional company that would be for the systems such as the PS3 and 360.

So, how do you think Clover at his current stage would fare against Superman?
Oh, I haven't heard of that one yet, have to check it out. There's supposed to be a 'Saw' video-game so I don't see why they can't do 'Cloverfield'.

Well, I don't know much about Superman but I think I remember Doomsday beating the hell out of him, I'm not sure if he had a wad of kryptonite on him but... if he didn't then Superman's screwed.

Yeah at least one more sequel, and either the sequel will be good or bad, no in between.

I think it can be done but they'd have to toss around some interesting ideas so the game doesn't get repetitive.

No, Doomsday was just a super strong killing machine. Everytime it died from something, it'd come back, unable to die from what previously killed it. You should read up on some of the major superheroes about Superman, he's pretty interesting, especially if you can get past the whole underwear on the outside of his costume thing.

Well, I forgot who said it but someone who will be working on the sequel said they have some new ideas they plan to use for the sequel. I think that the shakycam shouldn't even be used again if it's just going to be another person carrying it around. If it's not from the perspective of a reporter, no camera (well, in my opinion at least). I'd also like to see Abrams and crew incorporate more of the parasites into the movie as well as Clover himself. The sequel should pick up a little after the first movie with the monster moving on to another city.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the handheld camera. But I don't want to see it used again. That was their trick for this movie. They need to do something different and unique. Unless they go for a traditional way of filmmaking with story and all.

I kind of agree. I still think they could pull off a lot of suspense using the traditional way of filming as long as the monster isn't shown every three minutes like in Godzilla (1998).

I'd like to play only from a first person perspective in a free-roam environment, you can go anywhere around the city and even follow the monster as it attacks the city by destroying buildings, helicopters, anything in it's path. Run from parasites, all that. Give us a little map on the corner of the screen telling us where to go and how close the monster is to that area. I'd suggest a game along the lines of 'Diaster Report' for the PS2, if you haven't played it(let alone heard of it), check it out, I'm honestly influenced that it would make an amazing movie if(of course) done right. Choose your path, your actions affect what happens to you later-on in the game, just make it fun, that's all.

Haha, I can get past that. Really I just watched the movies, I read a few comic-books but most of them were bad, I was just picking up random comics as I went along and I got this one where Superman was in prehistoric time and was surrounded by fat sobs in 'Geogre of the Jungle'-esque clothing, it was just lame. I don't even remember Supes talking while reading it, it was just Lois Lane crying to him that she loved him and... it was crap.

I would like the sequel to be the first film over again, but centering around the military. I would like to see it done in a traditional sense too. But I know the general audience wouldn't like that. But it would be great to see the situation in a different perspective and the military's view would the most interesting to me.

Well I guess everybody got them like me then.

Maybe. But IGN gets their DVDs fairly early. They usually have their reviews out for a DVD at least 2 weeks before the release.

Yeah, it'd have to be something like the King Kong video game but instead of fighting dinosaurs, you'd be fighting off the parasites. If playing as the parasite, I'd like to be able to choose between being able to play as its parent in a prehistoric time where you have to fight for your survival as a younger and smaller version of the creature and as you beat the levels, the creature grows larger and larger.

I think that generally, there are a lot of horrible stories out there with Superman in it but there are also a lot of good ones. I will say that TAS was pretty good (I'm watching it right now) and so were the first two Superman movies along with Superman Returns. I would love to see him fighting Cloverfield or if not him, the Hulk. It'd certainly be entertaining.

Btw, there's just one thing I have to know: Why did J.J Abrams and crew choose to call the little monsters parasites? Has he said what their bites do to humans yet?

I'd rather be able to unlock both ability to play the parasites and the monster after finding postcards or something, 75% for Parasites, 100% for Monster.

I'm not really a fan of 'Superman Returns' but I did love Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor, although I liked Gene Hackman as Lex as well, Spacey had that intimidation factor and he was also enteraining to watch at times(all the time pretty much), that's pretty much my favourite thing about the film.

I haven't heard anything on that yet.

I think to make the game more interesting you should switch between the main characters of the first movie or whatever characters they use for the game and the military so that we are able to help fight off the monster (to an extent).

I felt that everyone did great in their roles in 'Superman Returns' except for Kate Bosworth. She didn't really fit in and she didn't have any qualities the Lois from the show, comics, or previous movies had.

Yeah, I want to know why it causes humans to explode. It needs to be a solid explanation, nothing corny or stupid.

I heard one theory. Since the parasites lived in the deep ocean, their toxic venom may cause the human body to build up 100 times the normal pressure. It was something like that.
