Just saw the film again. The crossfire sequence is awesome.

I never said I was, I was giving him a tip so he won't be posting so many messages at once.

Dude, I told you to stop. Just. let. things. go.

Now we will play a new vs. game, who wins? Mods or Joker_1000? Well, we give you probation...soooo...mods.

Wow, those alternate endings were awful. Nothing significantly different happens.

Thank you! He's one to talk, eh? He posts at least 6 messages per page, all theories on Cloverfield 2, when we have a Cloverfield 2 thread.

The more I think about it, the more I actually like them.

The first one, I felt was a lot more effective than the theatrical. Especially when it freezes on Beth at the end. Something very creepy, chilling, and tragic about that shot.

The second one, opens up the possibility that Beth may have survived the bombing and that they were found shortly afterwards.

What are the two alternate endings?

The first is in a subway station, a flashback to April, with Rob and Beth having their perfect day.

The second takes place after the (supposed?) death of Rob and Beth, and one person from the clean-up crew finding their camera.

How so? I didn't really pick up on that.

Well, she at least survives the bombing the knocks the camera out of his hands and persumably kills Rob (we can infer this by her still screaming for him). Almost immeiditely afterwards, we see the light and someone finding the camera. Why would the camera stop recording and conveniently come back on when someone finds it? Therefore, we may be able to assume the search and rescue team came in almost immeidietly after the bombing and may have gotten Beth out of there.

After rewatching the second one after reading you're post, I think it is a possibility what you said. I get more the feeling that its too up in the air to really say one way or the other. I think it is a bit of a stretch that a search and rescue team would get there so quickly after such a large bombing run plus with the monster possibly still being alive and in the vicinity it wouldn't be that safe.
But there was that moment when the camera came back on that you could see day light, that definitely raise a brow there.

Yeah, at the moment there is really no way to say one way or another. And all this depends whether or not one considers alternate endings to even be canon.

I still think my favorite ending out of all of them though, was the first one. There is something so incredibly creepy and tragic about that final shot of Beth. It is just a really unsettling moment that takes you out of your comfort zone. Far more so than the theatrical ending on the ferris wheel.

Yea that was a lot more unsettling, seeing the dark tunnel and her looking back. Im sure they went with the ferris wheel cause JJ wanted to throw in the object falling from the sky to tease everyone.

Doesn't the original ending end on a freeze-frame of Beth as well? I like the theatrical a lot better, especially with the line "I had a great day" or something to that effect.

Its close, she says i had a good day.

Yes, it does...but there is something about the alternate one that is much more unsettling.

Not really. I find the "I had a good day" line and the final shot of Beth on the ferris wheel just as unsettling, if not more.

It just boils down to your opinion.

This DVD is already out? Where can I get the 2disk?

I don't think it's supposed to come out for a couple of weeks yet. Which is good, because I need the extra time to come up with more cash. :woot:

Between "Sweeney Todd" (which I picked up this weekend), "There Will Be Blood", "Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem" and "Cloverfield", there's just too many "must-have" DVDs coming out this month! My wallet can't stand it!
