Cobra Commander's Mask

I just finished a custom figure of movie Cobra Commander where he's got the classic helmet, and it's removable to reveal Rex's scarred face underneath. Hopefully I'll have pics up today.

Anyway, I think they should slide the hood on over his helmet/mask thing in the "next" film. Since this is the RISE of cobra it makes sense not to have a hood with a cobra insignia on it. BUT, if his eyes are going to be all that show anyway, and Levitt did have GREAT eye acting, yes that is a thing, than why not just toss the hood over the mask now that we know what's underneath? His face was hidden for the whole movie pretty much anyway and now even more so. I say just give us what we want, the hood, and let Levitt act with his eyes. It can work!

Honestly I didnt mind the look of the mask at all, yea it could have been a simple silver face plate or hood blah blah blah but I think it worked out ok, BUT my main nitpick is the VOICE when he put on the new mask at the end, The Doctor sounded FINE and you could hear the subtle CC lisp and it wasnt too over the top but then at the end it went way to Darth Vader sounding.

I think the Commander's voice will be back to 'normal' in the end; either the one with the breathing apparatus or when he went without it. I think the scene with the super deep, Darth Vader voice was played for laughs. We weren't meant to go "OMG!! That's so cool, it's awesome!". Rather, it's meant to shock us into thinking "OMG!! JGL did not just do that... He's awesome!".

I also re-painted his face since the pink looked kind of stupid without the bubble over it. His chest armor has been painted to look more movie-accurate too.

I know for a fact they wont go with the faceplate. As cool as it is, it won't work. The masks JGL has in the movie already restricts alot of facial features enough as it is. The face plate would totally cover his face.

That's another reason I'm preferential to the hood, if he changes masks in the sequel. His eyes are exposed, which at least gives him something to work with.

Tis true. Plus really, both the masks he had in them movie basically only showed his eye area. The doctor mask showed the top part of his head and his CC mask was clear, but at the same time, it wasn't. All that was exposed were basically his eyes.

Plus the hood looks way cooler than a damn mirror on his face.
But it would need to be modified. It would look pretty cheesy just having a piece of cloth over his head.

I loved it. There have been so many variations of his look, from a little tweek, to whole costume makeover, this is just another one to add to the mix. I welcome nescessary change. Villains looks seem to change over time anyway, Cobra Commander's will too. Granted, I love the hood as much as the next guy, but I also like the battle helmet as well, and this is a variation of it. I'm not dissapointed.

Personaly I like the CC look in the movie, I did like the Doctor voice better but I'm not gonna nit pick. I personaly have always liked the battle armour CC the best so I hope they develop CC to look more like that. I also personaly don't think either the hood or mask would work on screen based on the few live action versions I've seen spoofed or used on tv.

Didn't like the mask. I'm more accepting of it now having seen the movie. I just hope it's improved in the next one. Now what the Commander did to Destro. That was cool.

I'd like to see CC's outfit blue, and his mask blue, with a red cobra symbol at the top. That'd look awesome.

It wasnt AS horrible...but I never did, nor like that mask they chose.

The mask in and of itself isn't bad, but this is Cobra Commander. His name isn't Rex, or Scientist...he isn't the brother of the Baroness nor was he in the military. Cobra Commander is essentially a COMPLETELY unknown and mysterious figure and yet we and GI Joe know EVERYTHING about the guy now.

CC's mask was always a part of his mystery. It defined him. Now that we know all about who he is in this movie, the mask is essentially stupid by default. Why even bother to have a mask now? To look "scary" ala Batman? It certainly isn't to hide is identity anymore.

I was just disappointed by this movie overall, and didn't like CC's final look...which SHOULD have been the easiest to pull off.

I liked the mask and the voice of CC,alot more than i thought i would. It looked more metallic than fishbowl-y in the movie.

I thought it was pretty decent modern version of the silver battle mask. It was clearly metallic, and silver.

Why would you even begin to ask why he wears a mask?

1. To survive
2. To disguise himself
3. To cause fear

the mask looks cool, but it makes me think of Kroenen from Hellboy too much.

i think it would work for him to become the Commander in the sequel as he places the hood over the mask. It would also be cool if the mask left a skull-like inprint from behind the hood. get what i'm saying?

Even a dr.doom-like hood would be cool.

i do feel though that it would be better if they added it. The thought of them leaving it out because of reference to the KKK makes little sense to me. Are the film makers afraid of OFFENDING the klan?

I loved it personally.

And in the sequel, I think they should
keep his new mask, but make it blue, with a cobra symbol. That way, it'll have the blue color and cold evil eyes of the hood, while keeping the faceplate look of the battle helmet. I think that'd be the best route. Maybe have kind of a Rise of the silver surfer Dr. Doom type of deal. Basically the same as the last movie, but has some upgrades and more bulky and bad-ass looking.

And I'm good for a comepletely different mask altogether, but at least keep the ROC mask for a while. Some of us actually liked it. Change it maybe halfway through, let it have some screentime.

I agree with all of this. The new mask wasn't anywhere near as bad as I thought it was and I like your idea for it. I think midway through the sequel he should get his classic hood back, but I agree that for the first half he should keep his new one and looking like how you described it.
