Collateral Beauty

Sounds all kinds of wrong. Is this the first morally backwards movie of modern day? Outside of gangster and etc. films. It sounds like a bizarro Capra film...

There is also an eye rolling "twist" to all that... *very major spoiler*

At the end it is revealed that the actors hired to play love, time and death really are love, time and death
Well that makes sense. [BLACKOUT]Keira Knightley really is love[/BLACKOUT].

I haven't actually seen it (and have no intention of seeing it), but it is being actively discussed (and dissed) on various forums.

I haven't actually read anything on what happens to his friends/co-workers, but they do mention Naomi Harris is ACTUALLY his estranged wife the whole time and they get back together

I saw this film two months ago early in the morning at 10 AM at a WB Screening room and thought it was good. I wrote my entire review in an old journal.
A month later I lost that journal at the theater I saw Moana at and completely forgot about the film. I knew I had to watch it again to refresh my memory. I took a friend last night and went to the actual world premiere of the film and through the movie the review just came to me and then I erased nearly everythiing good I had because the smell of the cheese was so damn strong.

Here's my final review. TWO VIEWINGS IN THE MAKING

I found this:
After the opening scene, Smith barely speaks for 30 minutes.

Smith spends a lot of Collateral Beauty’s first act in the background while Whit, Claire, and Simon engineer a scheme that is misguided at best and morally repulsive at worst. Fearful for their jobs and financial futures, they hire a group of actors from a nearby theater company to portray Howard’s three abstract concepts — Love, Time, and Death — and interact with him in public places. They plan to film him talking to these actors (played by Keira Knightley, Jacob Lattimore, and Helen Mirren, respectively), then digitally erase them from the footage so it looks like Howard’s talking to himself, then present that as evidence at a board meeting. That should get Howard deemed mentally incompetent and enable the other partners to sell the business out from under him.

I was intrigued by the trailer when I saw it but I read the review in The Village Voice today and jeez... This sounds very wrong headed in every way.

These reviews explain why Keira looks in pain in every shot of her from this film. :funny:

One of the dumbest things in the film is the climax where after Smith interacts with love, time, and death for the last time and they're digitally removed while he's recoded they have ameeting proving that he's crazy. YET THEN AND THERE SMITH PUTS TWO AND TWO TOGETHER AND GOES YOU HIRED ACTORS TO FOLLOW ME! He doesn't even acknledge them through the thing yet he figures it out like that. But not only that but he knows all of his coworker's personal problems like one of them is dying but he didn't tell anybody except death in the film yet HE ****ING KNOWS AND PUTS IT ON BLAST!

holly sh....

The amount of people who needed to agree to make this movie. This was greenlight, filmed, edited and realesed. Are they mentally challenged?

The actions of the supporting characters in this make those of Chris Pratt in Passengers look sensible. At least he has somewhat of a reason for doing something extreme.

Lmao. I just saw a commercial for this saying "audiences are raving about Collateral Beauty giving it an A- cinemascore." I've never seen a commercial reference cinemascore before. LOL
